"I refuse to let Malazan defeat me." My dude, life is short and there are so many great books out there that you will LOVE and not merely have to endure. If completing Malazan is really important to you then by all means go for it, but if you aren't enjoying it and want to DNF the series no one will hold it against you.

I think I will give the third book a shot (most people’s favorite) and if it defeats me, I will shelve Malazan forever!

I love how Ashlynn, instead of looking at the camera when you spoke about each book, she looks at you and really listens. 💕

I am surprised I actually know this but those books are written as split book, one follows set of characters and second follows other set. Something like A Feast for Crows and Dance with Dragons. There’s a guide online how to read it in order as one huge book.

It was actually quite fun! It made the more boring of the the two books actually interesting!

So sad you didn’t like One Dark Window. It was one of my favorites of last year. But I do agree that Ashlynn may enjoy it. It could be up her alley. I am happy you liked The Naturals. Wow reading 6 books at the same time! That is a feat I know I could never do. I try to read 2 books at the same time and can’t even do that one always falls to the way side! Malazan took note taking on my part lol and a lot of checking notes while I read and initially I wanted to just give up because you're right, it took work. BUT my husband, who is an avid Malazan lover, convinced me to keep going and it was SOOOO worth it. That being said, you really have to want to. Life is too short to keep reading something you can't get into. Take your time if you continue. ☺

Hey Ian! Glad you finally powered through Deadhouse Gates. I'm making my way through the series for the second time and am enjoying it even more. Just wanted to say that while the world building is indeed very expansive and complicated at times, you shouldn't worry too much about understanding everything. If there's something you really need to know, Erikson will bring it up more than once and make sure it comes across clearly. I also found Deadhouse Gates to be one of the more confusing/complicated books in the series both on first read and on this second read. If you end up not liking Memories of Ice then you can safely DNF the series. Hope it brings you around, though!

Don’t get burnt out from reading too much Ian! It can happen trust me.

Also rated Deadhouse Gates 3 stars. Didn't understand the hype about the Chain of Dogs and whatnot. I think it was a step down from Gardens of the Moon and I have put Memories of Ice on hold for over 6 months now. But I'm picking it up this weekend with my buddies (we're buddy reading the series which makes it a little easier and more enjoyable) so hopefully it goes well.

Awesome video 💯‼️ 😅I love your opinion for “One Dark Window” and I totally agree with on your opinion on it. I also try to give all books a chance or a second. I also gave The Love Hypothesis a 3.5 for me it was how she describes the mmc and fmc height difference and having the mmc be like 6 feet tall or more and have 6 pack abs and still be in stem is so not believable because I am in stem and I haven’t seen any guys that look like that. I also didn’t like the spicy scenes. I will say that Love, Theoretically has the least about of spice and I actually related so much to the fmc. I also really liked Check and Mate because the spicy scenes are even less and it’s cute. Also I am reading Throne of Glass which is my second book in this series as I just finished Assassins Blade.

Logann!!! Thank you! One Dark Window was just meh🤷‍♂️ and I agree with your thoughts on The Love Hypothesis. I am not interested in the little quirky physical aspects do the characters. I show up for good storytelling and development.

I also can’t visualise book characters or a book scene unless I have seen the film or tv show first or like with acotar when Rhys’ says “ hello Feyre, darling” that just made me visualise The Vampire Diaries show as one character says Hello ____.
