“Maybe I want to be a queen, to challenge the idea what people say you can and can’t be, who you can and can’t love, how you can practice your faith, to put that out there in the world while making way for others to do the same.” I’ve never looked at drag this way. This was so beautiful.

YESSSSS, half my teachers at my jewish school in america were either drag queens, friends of drag queens, and/or LGBTQ+, so majority would do drag on purim and tbh those were the days (also cant forget when my rabbi literally gave a quick makeup lesson in class cuz someone was curious)

This was an incredible video, but as an Orthodox Jew, I want to address the concern of gender. Judaism is an ancient religion, meaning that the multiplicity of more than two genders is very new to a culture thousands of years old. Our scriptures and laws were written long ago, so wheit comes to embracing new revolutions of sexuality and gender, it is difficult. This does not mean that Jews, observant or not, are not willing to educate ourselves and use our religious knowledge to address modern concerns, but it does take time. I want to let everyone know that we are accepting people, as Jews have been persecuted in the past, and more and more Jews are becoming open to the idea of different sexualities and genders. New ideals will take time to spread, but we do not tolerate hatred in our religion.

The idea of multiple genders is actually not new, especially in pagan cultures/religions. I'm glad Judiasm is the first Abrahamic religion to accept this idea and let LGBT individuals be accepted as who they are and understand that culture, religion, sexuality, and gender are not mutually exclusive.

I am from Lebanon ( Israel's tiny neighbor and also unfortunately its enemy. there is even a travel ban) yet this spoke to me on sooooo many levels, way deeper than I can even explain. Conflicts in the middle east and their intensity go so deep into our culture and it's beyond sadening. in lebanon, just being gay and out can get you to go to jail from 6 months to a year. lgbtq members have it so hard and yet they keep their chins up and let their love shine through. beirut pride was cancelled in lebanon within 2 days of its running and the creator was locked up. so you making this video, on something so close to home is so essential and helpful. drag queens are the very very small minority in lebanon but whenever yiu do see them in small gay clubs, there is almost always a statement, and always love that demands a brighter future. ❤
