    Great video! Subbed! As a tekken nut and content creator, just gonna give some feedback for any future video like tekken terminologies part 2. Or it could be a Tekken Advanced terminologies or multi part series. - You missed back turn in universal stances, also side step can also be considered a universal stance as there are loads of moves that only come out of a sidestep - Sway Stances back sway, forward sway and Crouch Dash stance which few characters share - Explaining moves that contain neutral as an input like electric, jet upper, delayed hopkick etc. - Another way to evade a low in a 2D space is by jumping, important for things like delayed hopkicks. - Not all special mids can be low parried. Geese n2 for instance. - Also, termninologies like mixups, instant while running, punch parry, kick parry, universal parry, low parry, built in parry, power crush parries. - frame notation difference between instant moves start and the move input. Like Jet Upper is i14 but needs at least 16 frames to execute because of the input - There are certain moves that can punish faster that 10f, Like yoshi's flash or Geese's Raging Storm. - Input notations or moves like Hcb, qcb, qcf, CD, FC, SS, - Combo or hit specific stuff like KND (knockdown), wall splat, Screw move S!, wall ender, wall combo, gauranteed damage, ballerina spin, Counter hit crumple stun that needs to hold forward to block, low that stagger on block which means you can launch punish except in rare case like heihachi hellsweeps after the first one. Nose bleed stun. - Grounded has four additional stances. Face down feet away, face down feet toward, Face up feet away, face up feet toward. All have different frames or possible get up options. For example you can do a ws move as you hold up from face down feet away and only spring kick face up feet toward. - Tech roll, backroll, side roll, forward roll, sideroll catch, techroll catch, backroll catch, Spring kick, running tackle, ultimate tackle, tackle reversal, chickening a parry - Moves that only come out when opponent is grounded or moves that hit grounded - Difference between evasion and crushing. Like high crush is different from high evasion. - Plus frames/minus frame gaurd state, Instances opponent can still block even if you are more that +9 - Moves that can't be neutral blocked or inability to neutral gaurd after getting hit or out of a movement other than holding back. Like if you sidestep is active you can't gaurd. - Force Crouch moves Hit or block. - Inability to low parry or regular parry moves that are weapons or something other than punch or kick like elbows, knees, headbutt, shoulder or forearm (Gigas d2) - Term like snake edge or Hellsweep. These are off the top of my head and I probably missed some. If you do end up making a video using this then kindly leave a credit for my youtube channel and me. Cheers.

    Thanks for the detailed response. My terminology video is focused on helping newer players and spectators understand what is happening in a match of tekken, thats the main reason why alot of what you mentioned was not included. I feel alot of it is unnecessary until you start to try to actually get good at the game lol but if i do make a “advanced” terminology video i’ll give you a shout for sure. You listed alot of good points, correction and i really do appreciate the feedback, take care and i’ll be subbing to you as well.

    I also remember I used to get mad especially when I try and pull off certain moves but what I didn’t know was certain moves from the opponent puts you in crouch I used to get so pissed off when the match was close lol but now that I am more experienced I have a slight advantage and that’s sound because they do certain sounds before the attack comes out so I can do my rage art and catch you. I am infamous for that and people get so mad it’s funny.

    I didn't know there were three grabs. I thought every grab was a 50/50 Also, do the negative frames, indicate how many frames it takes for my opponent to get back to stand guard? In other words, can I always get a quick jab in as long as the frames say -10 or more?

  • @impetuoushero

    @impetuoushero

    7 ай бұрын

    Basically yea a 10 frame move will punish a -10 recovery and on, the negative frames of a move indicate how long it takes before you can do any other action including blocking. Any move thats -10, -11, -12 etc is punishable by a fast enough move.

    Nice video but I do need to know more about the ground game more so how to get up super fast as a totally blind fighter I go off of pattern and sound and sometimes when I knock somebody down and give them time to get up and come back it’s like they are back on me super fast. Don’t know how to do that. also, I heard another terminology called fuzzy guarding don’t know what that is. I am currently a mighty ruler but trust me. I had to learn a lot on this game the hard way because I had no one to sit down and tell me what moves do what just had to figure it out

  • @impetuoushero

    @impetuoushero

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks glad you like the vid! Fuzzy guarding is basically shifting your guard from standing to crouching to try to beat all options from your opponent. Most people just back after getting knocked down but you can also tap up to stand straight up. There are alot of different things you can do while grounded, i may explain it in a different video but honestly just google it lol

    Nice video, the terminology I feel has always been easy to understand once you know a bit about the game. However I fear commentators needs to speak more universally when talking about fighting games using words such as stun, unblockable, super move etc. When commentators spout out notations or say ws1 2 leading into a combo just say twin pistons or launching uppercut. After all they are fighting games and should have a resemblance to actual fighting terms. Calling out Notations and inputs instead of the move to non-gamers or casuals will just go over their heads. There's a reason why there's names for moves in a move list.

  • @impetuoushero

    @impetuoushero

    Жыл бұрын

    Yea i definitely agree, thats part of what inspired me to make this video. I think that simply watching high level tekken is really cool but what the commentators are saying can act as a barrier for entry some times. Hoping this vid alleviates that for newcomers. If commentators spoke universally thatd great tbh

    I'm a new player, I find it hard to do special moves involving qtc and connecting combos with qtc's. Also what is the optimal way to hold the controller and the easiest characters to use? Great video btw learned a lot.

  • @impetuoushero

    @impetuoushero

    Жыл бұрын

    What is qtc? Did you mean qcf (quarter Circle, Forward). And in terms of holding the controller, the best advice I can give you is to just do what feels natural. The easiest character for beginners to use is probably Katharina, but I would highly encourage you sticking with the character You like the most. That is what will push you to keep going when things get frustrating or difficult. It doesn’t matter who you are there were always be struggle when learning and there is no shortcut.

  • @Milicinho4

    Can someone please explain to me what 50/50 means in tekken? I thought it was a situational thing as in, “you can either go high or low” during a string. But apparently in tekken it translates more into an actual combo?

  • @impetuoushero

    @impetuoushero

    Жыл бұрын

    50/50 refers to limiting a person’s options to only 2 choices usually the choice is either to stand block or crouch block. A 50/50 can lead into a combo, a good example would be Devil jin, due to his wavedash mix up of either hellsweep (a combo starting low) or while standing 2 (a combo starting mid) Put simply opponent is forced into a coin flip where guessing wrong is bad

    i think you forgot to say grabbing during a move is inescapable as well as backthrowing a list of characters able to mid-grab would be cool or just in a "further on grabs" additional vid. chicken isnt there either albeit pretty rare even on highest lvls i might have missed the SS explanation...there s airborne perticulates, wall splat, side wall, off axis & how to get back in axis in a jiffy, up 2 while lying down... cancel window also? maybe? reverse grabs? (is that even the term) tailspin?, bound? it's coming back so a bit of tag2 is in order? air grabs mention.. are there air to air or just air to ground & ground to air? items & unblockable moves, how to avoid em...(i never see anyone bouncing king's unblockable tech check bodysplat...EVER although it seems everybody know it's possible.. is it the propriety of the limb?? asuka parrying capital punishment looks awesome too) one that surely misses from your vid: dragontail & hellsweep, egwf too, sway, kbd, low mid & high mid evasion, slippery? perhaps?(xiao, lili..)... there s a BUNCH of stuff ppl might find weird while listening to a tourney commentarylike : 'turn' & turn stealing side evasion oh & whatever stomping a rolling bkwd character makes it stand up backturned is called.

    For anyone who wants to know where the 1-4 buttons came from (at least based off of my knowledge) they originated from the 3D era Mortal Kombat games so Deadly Alliance Deception and Armageddon

    MK was a four button fighting game since the original. Those buttons weren't designated for limbs though, the attacks were high punch, low punch, high kick and low kick. The button setups for the arcade machines were whack for anyone that remembers that.

    It took me a long time i don’t have a exact number but at least 10 hours of just editing along with everything in between, probably more. But i will say, i at the time was completely new to editing, and i had to teach myself how to do even the more basic stuff

    What does it mean when a move “jails”?

  • @impetuoushero

    @impetuoushero

    6 ай бұрын

    Hey there! A move that jails basically means you’re forced to block the whole string. For example say your character has a two hit string that goes mid then high. Normally after blocking the mid you may have time to duck the high instead of blocking. But a jailing string in that same scenario doesn’t let you do that!

    And lastly, how is it that someone can parry a 10 frame low D1 now I heard on KZread that some people can cheat I’m on a PlayStation 4, so does that mean they are cheating or do they have a good read or something because I heard you can’t react to anything at 15 frames or below

  • @impetuoushero

    If someone low parrys a fast special mid like down 1 or a fast low like down 4 its either a prediction (meaning they didn’t react, they just had a feeling you would throw out said move) or they got lucky and were already pressing down forward to do a attack but the low parry happened first

    Good video but the kbd you demonstrated is incorrect. You see kbd refers to Korean way of back dash canceling not just back dack canceling. There are in total 3 back dash cancel methods you are using the qcb method Korean backdash refers to the db method last one is lightning which refers to the d method Basically after bb if you do qcb then b you did qcb method, if you did bb db b it is the db or most commonly known as kbd method and last one is the bb d bb which is known as d method, lightning back dash or side step back dash. In the stance section you said grounded as if there is only one grounded stance. there are 16 different ones face up face down and 4 different positions in the x/y axis their body alligns and based on these they get different moves. These positions have similar looking attacks with mostly different properties. Okizeme is not just when opponent is getting up actually. It refers to the Japanese phrase which is good morning as in the first few frames they are able to do anything. This in other words applies to positions in which the opponent is heavily - frame Special mids or lows are not always low parryable. Weapon moves and certain moves like fireballs are not low parryable by the universal low parry. Frame data is not actually "math" frame data is each picture in the motion that makes the move and how fast either player is able to move after the move animation is completed. Basically who has the first turn and which attacks are fast, which attacks allow which player to have the turn. Math only explains what happened understanding the general concept of who has the advantage, which move is faster and which move allows you to have the turn is what needs to be known. Frame is a unit of time like a second minute or hour but much smaller at 1/60th of a second for tekken It boils down to this for highs and special mids 10 frames is the fastest, for mids 11 is the fastest with exceptions, 12 is the fastest for lows. Each character has different result on who goes first based on distance and whether the move is blocked or not. Good video just wanted to correct and explain certain things more simply
