One thing I would say Hwoarng is Side step to left, don't bother with the chest logic.

How does it take like 6 years for a good video about how to step in Tekken 7 to come out?

because the developers dont give a damn about teaching players anything so we're forced to wait for people kind enough to give us their precious time.

Thanks man this the best sidestep guide I’ve ever seen. There was a lot here I had never learned anywhere else And those cowboy bebop style edits were sick
I wish a guide like this existed when I started Tekken. Great guide!
I was literally watching your josie punishment guides and this popped up, nice.
Awesome tutorial dude, best one I've seen so far. The work you put in is 10/10 I really love the block colour with the silhouette of the characters 💯💯💯
My dude not only is the guide amazing, the STYLE is so good I clicked and didn't even feel the time go by
Definitely the best side step guide I've come across, how have I been playing this game so long and am STILL learning things. Would love more vids like this!
Nice work. But the rules are a bit exaggerated. Step block is a great tech you need to master, but you dont allways have to step block. Same with waiting for wiff and confirming it. Sometimes, if you have a hard read on opponent you can step and punish on prediction ( 9:20 for example). If you step block df1 and waiting for confirm, you will only punsih with i10-12 punish but you can launch if you doing it on prediction. Step block is less risky but less rewarded. Overall its better option, but if you have a hard read (df1, df1 for example) you can try to punish instantly. Its like a ducking low. Its risky, but sometimes when you have a good read you can duck. Also step blocking is canceling your side step so you cover less distance. You can try step block early to block everething even df1's (like in video) but if you do block that early you will barely step anything. Its important WHEN to block after sidestep. For example, if opponent are greedy and trying to catch you with high reward homings you can choose to fully step fast moves and press block only if you think slow homing is comming after ~18-20 frames. You can even sidewalk block. This way you will step most fast options (if stepping right side) but will block slow homing. If you do instant step block instead way more stuff will be blocked that can be stepped. There are many ways to step and step block is just a one of them. Step and punish instantly is also one of theme. And even step block you can perform in different ways.

We had discussion on reddit about this, adding the replies here - NamelessTunnelgrub > Realignment varies depending on linearity. Like, vs Lili cartwheel, I can sidestep before her hands hit the ground and dash straight into her, she'll still whiff. IMO in general the SS-guard safety is very worth it! There are also moves like electric where it's like... If we say you have 30 frames where you can SWL it, SWL for more than 30 frames offers only additional vulnerability, no extra evasion. (Rough number based on feel.) pisciatore > This is true. A sidestep without cancel is generally more evasive than a sidestep with cancel. Learning the timing for cancelling to get the best of both safety and evasiveness comes with practice. When starting out, I agree with u/I_AMOP in that you should always cancel a SS with a back input. I_AMOP > It doesn't kill the evasion completely. Even if you cancel immediately, you will evade stuff like jabs df1's or df2s with out a problem. Slower Attacks or strings with 2,3 hits might re-align but at worst you will block them. And depending on the character and move, you can time time the block optimally and evade. There is sweet spot as Pisciatore said that will come with experience.
i think these are some of the most important tekken videos out there. lots of content creators are talking about obsure tech traps that people never use. ive been playing tekken for 4 years before someone told me you're supposed to hold back after a SS I played tekken for 2 years straight before someone told me that you're supposed to do dick jabs with DB1 not just D1. theres so much basic knowledge people dont know because the game doesnt tell you. You should try do a video on wake ups next!
Finally, love seeing your channel and content grow ❤️❤️ Keep on creating brother.
Holy shit. This is so valuable. Best guide I've seen on side stepping. Been having trouble with drag too. That ss db/df might just give me an edge now. Thanks so much for this IAMOP. Very well made, illustrated and informative video. Please make more. Also that MJ mod for Lee had me laughing 🤣
I finally have a video that’s better than a very old JDCR vod to link people when they ask about sidestepping. Great work, this is fantastic!
This is one of the best vid you ever made. It is really well detailed and explain with great details one of the most important gameplay of the game. Excellent !
Thank you so much🙏. Like everyone else already mentioned, definitely one of best tekken guides out there and most definitely the best guide on side stepping.
This is probably the best side stepping guide I've watched. The ones I have watched do have the information but they make it too long which makes you lose interest. This guide is engaging and give the the info in a short and concise way. 👍
This is one of the greatest tutorials ive seen in the FGC, good shit man
This needs to be in Tekken's in-game tutorial What a great video! I will be sure to show this to anyone who wants to get into the iron-fist

Even though I already know most of this stuff, it's still SO enjoyable to watch this pleasantly presented and clearly explained guide. Such a great piece of work. I wouldn't bother about it taking 2 weeks if I was you, 2 weeks very well spent. I wonder how many people will cut off their learning time.
This is a lifesaver! I've been waiting for this!
Very good video, the quality is on point too
Damn this is an awesome guide! Cant wait for your T8 guides! ^_^
Good shit man :) best sidestep guide 👍 it's nice seeing your chanel become one of the keystones for entertainment and educational content 😎 much love ♥️
DUDE U REALLY DESERVE all of our subscribes!
Got a tenuous grasp at sidestepping/sidewalking and this helps me gain perspective now. Makes me appreciate more how each character has a different capability and nuance to how they sidestep and how they are sidestepped. Hopefully I can apply it in matches though. 😅
really awesome work man! Quality content
We have played many times, great video. Keep it up !
This is an excellent, excellent guide. I feel it would have been nice to have a section on how to counter an opponent's sidestepping and how to deal with an opponent trying to counter your stepping (mentioning tracking moves, slow speed of homing moves etc.) I think LoseAgainMan has a video on that anyways.

Not much of a tekken player nowadays but there is a basic fighting game triangle as a sort of crude neutral guide: Waiting/Baiting beats Poking Poking beats Approaching Approaching beats Waiting/Baiting I don't really have better terms for that. The idea is if your opponent does sidestep block you can dash forward (it also realigns you in tekken) and then, while your opponents blocks and waits for your whiff, open him up with a throw or mid low 50/50.
That guts theme killed me lmao
Absolutely fantastic! I'll favorite this for future reference.

Always felt step was wonky/complicated in Tekken. Nice job, this is well done.
Great guide! I still feel it's helpful even for intermediate+ players like myself.
I didn't know about that cancel with d/b or d/f instead to avoid some moves. Dang, always something more to learn.
BIG upgrade in your videos man keep it up
Beautiful and so informative Thanks
I'm so inconsistent with my sidestepping. I either sidestep something completely and don't/miss the punish or I just get popped by everything even when I step the right direction. If had a dollar for every time I got hit by something when I'm almost behind someone...
Great Video Bro !
You saved some lives with this dude.

Thanks, this is an amazing resource
This is great video thanks
Great SS guide tysm 🎎
Thank you!
Thanks man. I was initially doing sidestep>back but stopped doing that because I though it cut the sidestep short after I blocked some. Didn't know you really were supposed to do it that way
Holy moly that intro
Welp time to hit back in the lab and use these notes thanks for the tutorial 😁
XD that outro got me laughing so hard.. Also good guide I hope I can use sidesteps in online soon
In the old tekken games sidestepping isnt this complicated, the game has evolved a lot.
amazing video, i cant thank you enough man
real helpful, i didnt know that you should backdash after sidestep lmao, i guess thats why my sidestep never works
Thanks ,gonna rekt fundamental heavy characters now
Excellent guide I AM OP. I learned a lot. Gonna try to make a more conscious effort to incorporate Sidestep --> D/B & D/F into my game ^^
Good effort!

Pog was waiting for this
Not sure if this has been said already but the b+1,4 ss at 3:07, you can sidestep with king without cancelling. Trick to it is not doing it as soon as the b+1 is blocked, but waiting a tiny bit. You can time a ss2 and combo of it like that.
best side stepping guide out there, also what can I punish with steve after side stepping?
@IAMOP
Жыл бұрын
Just saw your comment, since steve doesn't have quick launhers. Safest option is 112 into stance pressure, you can do for df1+2 or b12 if you want knockdown/ wall splat.
laughed so much when hellsweep tracked 😂😂😂
cancelling side steps... personal game changer gd
The option select at the end is wild. Idk if I wanna learn every match-up like that
