One thing I would say Hwoarng is Side step to left, don't bother with the chest logic.

Nice work. But the rules are a bit exaggerated. Step block is a great tech you need to master, but you dont allways have to step block. Same with waiting for wiff and confirming it. Sometimes, if you have a hard read on opponent you can step and punish on prediction ( 9:20 for example). If you step block df1 and waiting for confirm, you will only punsih with i10-12 punish but you can launch if you doing it on prediction. Step block is less risky but less rewarded. Overall its better option, but if you have a hard read (df1, df1 for example) you can try to punish instantly. Its like a ducking low. Its risky, but sometimes when you have a good read you can duck. Also step blocking is canceling your side step so you cover less distance. You can try step block early to block everething even df1's (like in video) but if you do block that early you will barely step anything. Its important WHEN to block after sidestep. For example, if opponent are greedy and trying to catch you with high reward homings you can choose to fully step fast moves and press block only if you think slow homing is comming after ~18-20 frames. You can even sidewalk block. This way you will step most fast options (if stepping right side) but will block slow homing. If you do instant step block instead way more stuff will be blocked that can be stepped. There are many ways to step and step block is just a one of them. Step and punish instantly is also one of theme. And even step block you can perform in different ways.

We had discussion on reddit about this, adding the replies here - NamelessTunnelgrub > Realignment varies depending on linearity. Like, vs Lili cartwheel, I can sidestep before her hands hit the ground and dash straight into her, she'll still whiff. IMO in general the SS-guard safety is very worth it! There are also moves like electric where it's like... If we say you have 30 frames where you can SWL it, SWL for more than 30 frames offers only additional vulnerability, no extra evasion. (Rough number based on feel.) pisciatore > This is true. A sidestep without cancel is generally more evasive than a sidestep with cancel. Learning the timing for cancelling to get the best of both safety and evasiveness comes with practice. When starting out, I agree with u/I_AMOP in that you should always cancel a SS with a back input. I_AMOP > It doesn't kill the evasion completely. Even if you cancel immediately, you will evade stuff like jabs df1's or df2s with out a problem. Slower Attacks or strings with 2,3 hits might re-align but at worst you will block them. And depending on the character and move, you can time time the block optimally and evade. There is sweet spot as Pisciatore said that will come with experience.

i think these are some of the most important tekken videos out there. lots of content creators are talking about obsure tech traps that people never use. ive been playing tekken for 4 years before someone told me you're supposed to hold back after a SS I played tekken for 2 years straight before someone told me that you're supposed to do dick jabs with DB1 not just D1. theres so much basic knowledge people dont know because the game doesnt tell you. You should try do a video on wake ups next!

Not much of a tekken player nowadays but there is a basic fighting game triangle as a sort of crude neutral guide: Waiting/Baiting beats Poking Poking beats Approaching Approaching beats Waiting/Baiting I don't really have better terms for that. The idea is if your opponent does sidestep block you can dash forward (it also realigns you in tekken) and then, while your opponents blocks and waits for your whiff, open him up with a throw or mid low 50/50.

Not sure if this has been said already but the b+1,4 ss at 3:07, you can sidestep with king without cancelling. Trick to it is not doing it as soon as the b+1 is blocked, but waiting a tiny bit. You can time a ss2 and combo of it like that.
