    @@mistergraham6702 I agree, Tekken 5 DR had the most playable characters ingame (33), which is second to Tekken Tag 1 at the time (35), while retaining good prologue explanation and having character interludes in the middle of their own stories. The idea of abandoning good narrated prologues and interludes starting in Tekken 6 felt very questionable as Scenario Campaign failed to deliver a decent story that focuses more on being a beat-em-up than having the traditional 3d fighting game gameplay it had. I was even hoping Tekken 7 will resolve the issue of Tekken 6 not having better prologues like Tekken 5 and 4, and the lack of interludes like Tekken 5. Instead the developers just focused too much on the Mishima saga (and most of the characters involved onto it), which is another lackluster Netherrealm-esque cinematic story mode they tried to copy. This results into side characters that aren't involved into the Mishima saga having much more lackluster story than Tekken 6 had, which most of them besides Steve's (where it continues the story of him being related to Nina) looked ridiculous and exaggerating than before. The gameplay still retain that 3d fighting game it had from its predecessors, but it now had less offline content to depend on (hell even the Bowling minigame got stuck in the paywall too, along with the legacy characters that were supposed to be free). As a competetive game, yes Tekken 7 is great, but overall, it lacked content than what TTT2 or Tekken 5 DR had. Tekken 7 all had "hype" in its mind thanks to Harada himself. Much worse today is Tekken 7's netcode for most people, haven't been fixed after BamCo announced 7 million people bought the game, which they can take that opportunity to use the resources from the game sales in order to fix what Tekken 7's problems it had. I just wished the devs don't let themselves out of touch with the fans, along with the longstanding complaints delivered throughout the months.

    "20 years ago, Kazuya lost to Heihachi and was thrown into a mouth of a volcano." "A few days later, Kazuya was brought back to life by G Corporation. A biotech firm making revolutionary advance in field of biogenetics research. With G Corporation's aid, Kazuya investigated the biomechanics of the devil gene within him by subjecting himself to various experiments. Kazuya believes that once he unlock and control the power of the devil gene within him, he would be powerful enough to defeat Heihachi and destroy the Mishima Zaibatsu." "20 years later, the Tekken Forces attack the G Corporation's facilities and stole their research data. Kazuya was also targeted in the attack." "Kazuya was infuriated by Heihachi's interference once again. He was determined more than ever to exact his vengeance. Kazuya was not fooled by the sudden announcement of the King of Iron Tournament 4. He knew that it was trap, orchestrated by Heihachi to lure him out. Despite this knowledge, Kazuya enters the tournament as this is a chance to defeat Heihachi." Hands down, one of the best written backstories in Tekken. The broody background music and the stoic narrator only adds more intensity to the atmosphere in this most mature vibe entry in the entire series.

    N McIntosh you didn't read the back story, didn't you? He was researching for ways to control his devil gene. He can't take Heihachi head-on with his current state at that time. Probably took some extensive research and experiments which takes a huge amount of time. And as the others mentioned, he was recovering from a severe injury and might literally lost some body parts. He was immediately revived few days later, but I think it took a year or two from him to completely recover.

    As much I love Tekken 5, 6,7 and Tag 2, this was the last Tekken where the story was given a more grounded "realistic" treatment. Characters were growing, changing, entering the crossroads of their lives, betting everything they had on the tournament. The writing for the prologues, as well as the legendary narrator were just pure...*chef's kiss* Even the epilogue writing was great. This was also the last game that character ages were shown in the manual. Tekken 5 was the last one where any kind of passage of time was mentioned. 2 years passed between T1 and T2, 18 between T2 & T3, 2 years between T3 & T4 and 2 months between T4 & T5. After that, there's no mention of how much time has passed between games. Tekken has always been ridiculous and over the top, but around 5 or 6, it felt more like a fantastical anime than a silly, but grounded martial arts fest. Felt it was stupid how they couldn't just pick one source for the Devil Gene and we ended up with three (first Jinpachi, then Azazel and now Kazumi) :/ At the end of the day though, Tekken is a fantastic franchise with great characters, great gameplay and plenty of lore for us fans to play with.

    This was Tekken at its best when it came to story. Each fighter had a proper motivation that you could really invest in. I think the problem with Tekken today is that there is simply too many characters to write for. About 70% were either half-arsed or team-up plots so as to reduce the effort of writing. It seems anyone whos surname isn't Mishima or Kazama gets screwed over.

Take Wang's ending, they are serious and sad and i would like all characters will have something like this, Christie's endings are sad too, then you have stupid endings for several other characters. They need to make Tekken story as dark and serious as possible, with a few laughs, no vise versa.

    @nanomasa9293 жыл бұрын

    - Jin is the hero who has to struggle with his powers. - Kazyua is a anti hero, who is driven by revenge and power - Heihachi is the badass leader of the zaitbatsu and villain who is also driven by power. This is and always will be. My definite Tekken formula. And this game nailed it.

As much as I want them to do this again in future Tekken games, it makes me realize how perfect they did it, let alone 20 years ago.

    After playing through the story mode, this makes so much sense since Reina is too young to be a biological daughter of Heihachi (she would have to be as old as Lars and Kazuya and she looks like Asuka's age). Plus she knows things she shouldn't know like Kazuya and cliffs. So you might be right in she is the lifeform Heihachi was trying to create. But my initial headcanon is Heihachi was reincarnated as Reina lol.

    Tekken 3 was when I was briefly introduced to the series but Tekken 4 was the first I bought. It was amazing. The story is still the best in the series and it made me so invested in the characters and their struggles. Especially Kazuya. When I first saw Tekken 5 intro, I was blown away and was hoping for them to follow up with the engaging storytelling of T4, but quickly realized most of the characters were butchered for the sake of comedy. Namco has been dropping the ball with the lore and story ever since and they made Kazuya into one note villain. Tekken 7 and the movie before it were especially egregious, as they basically retconned Mishima's saga and made it all seem like something straight out of Dragon Ball Z or some shit. The spirit of Tekken's story last beat in T4, you can quote me on that.

    (Just for fun, read the following as if it were one of the narrations) Tekken 4 was the first game in the series for The Unknown SCP. Upon looking at the character roster for the first time, Yoshimitsu was the first character he played as, because his unique design stood out from the others and remains his favourite to this day. When he saw Yoshimitsu's story intro, The Unknown SCP was enthralled. He wouldn't realise it at the time, but the music, the narration, the motivation behind Yoshimitsu's goal, and the fact that he had a sword, all of it would be the reason that Tekken 4 will forever be the favourite Tekken game in the series for The Unknown SCP. (A bit cheesy and maybe a bit cringe, but this was fun to do).

    Chief Eagleclaws was a respectable chieftain of the Iroquois Oneida clan community. He dedicated his life to preserving his ancestors' culture and tribal rights. But on that fateful day, after a tribal meeting, he found his entire community massacred. Houses burned to the ground and most of the people he cared for were all dead, including his brother, his wife, and children. Determined to find the person responsible for the clan's destruction, Eagleclaws sought help from other Iroquois clans for information. One clan leader, who saw the incident, claimed that the Mishima Zaibatsu were responsible and that they were searching for an artifact of unknown importance. Eagleclaws was enraged by the Mishima Zaibatsu for the massacre of his clan. He prepared himself for war and entered the King of Iron Fist Tournament 4 to confront the Zaibatsu's leader, Heihachi Mishima.
