One of the great sights in racing, Piggott coming into Tattenham Corner with his hands full, looking around already. Lovely.

He was the best jockey I've ever seen, and on that day Teenoso was absolutely brilliant.

The Horse did not have a Race, Piggott was a Master. The Greatest. He also won a Champion Hurdle.

Hi, Tarqogan I left school at 14, in 1950, and was far more interested in the geegees than maths. Odd as it may seem, I look back on those days with pleasure. I studied the Racing section of the Daily Express like I should have been studying shakespeare. I knew how many lbs equalled a neck or a length, instead of how many miles to the moon. The great MV O'Brien was still training winners over the sticks in those days. Leater Piggott was, and is, my favourite flat jockey of all time.

Much under-rated horse- an absolute monster who demolished the derby field and was even better at 4. Possibly the fact that he did absolutely nothing as a sire (predictable as he was from an unfashionable sire line) has counted against him.

Teenoso was an average derby winner on his three-year-old form, but he was an absolute monster in 1984. Annihilated a very strong field in the King George. Almost unique in that his two biggest wins were achieved on bottomless soft (Derby) and rock hard (King George).

tigerboy1966 The ground came right for Teenoso for sure but because of that he was a bit underrated, i had a few pounds on him at 14-1 in the next years King George, i don't know why but i had this gut feeling he was a lot better than people thought, he won it quite comfortably in the end so i was pleased i backed him but more importantly i was glad he proved himself a better horse than people thought - and on fast ground as i recall

@@tonymcgrath700 True, many thought of Teenoso as just a soft ground specialist, he proved them wrong.

The horse that finished second, Carlingford Castle was a magnificent looking animal. Unfortunately he was 2nd in just about every race he ever took part in.

Whatever keeps you happy... Not much to do with Teenoso, but just replying here - I liked Bob Turnell as a trainer of hurdlers, and Andy was a good jockey. My family couldn't afford a TV in the fifties - my dad liked the horses, but didn't make enough money on them to buy a television. :-)

Do you remember the Ebor winner, Kneller? He was with Cecil and would have gone on, I think, to much greater things. If memory serves he died prematurely as a three or four year old. I was a big fan.

I remember my dad talking about The Head Waiter. A bit before my time. But I DO remember Tarqogan. And not just because of the strange spelling.
