Auto tune did exist , it was back in the 70s and 80s the the troutman brothers started that example with computer love . Fact Mariah, Whitney , Celine a lot of your great singers didn’t use it until later .

She literally is the empress of the whistle register; the only artist that can speak clearly in it, transition smoothly into it, use different textures/emotions in it and can use it in multiple ways. 😩😍 Like “Bliss” from the *Rainbow* album is 90% of her showing her whistle register capabilities and she has so many layers in her songs 😭 She truly has a love for music; her songwriting/producing skills, knowledge of songs (all genres) and vocal range (5 octaves) shows it. Mariah has a 5 octave range. She can sing from the 2nd octave to the 7th octave. She has one of the best vocal ranges in the world. She made this song with the intention of showcasing just how wide her vocal range was. This song came out in 1991 she was 21 years old. Its her 5th number hit out of her 19 total number hits she has today. React to Mariah Carey - Vision of Love her first single.

The note is called whistle register, it’s highest note in the human voice. Mariah is know as the empress of whistle register after her idol inspiration mini ripperton . Mariah has hit notes up to the 7 octave. There’s other singers that have whistle register but Mariah has master it. If you really want hear what she can do , could you react to Mariah Carey the empress of whistle register. Mariah is in the Guinness world book of records for hitting high notes , she’s also know as the song bird supreme.

  • @mijalakis3

This is probably one of the if not the most difficult song to sing. Not only because of the whistles. 70% of this sing is sung in upper chest belt, in the space of a syllable she switches to falsetto then back belting, every ending of a sentence has a run in it, you need amazing stamina to perform the entire the entire song with the same energy and vocal vigor to not strain your voice. She is actually singing words in some of the whistles saying "hiiiigh", it has fast phrasing. The whistle in the climax and the end are done in staccato, which means she runs a scale note by note separating them enough for you to feel the ascension in the octave but are close enough to not make it loose its continuity. This song cimented her as the Songbird Supreme, Hero, We Belong together and this song are always part of her concerts. In 1991 at the MTV vma's she performed it and even went hire hitting her highest note live Bb7.

This is why she so respected by so many vocalists. Because her register is so wide going from really low to really high. When people say they’re gonna sing her song, people already have a look like, “you’re gonna sing a Mariah song?” And that’s because most of her songs are difficult to sing even as a good singer.

Reminds me a bit of my reaction the first time I ever heard Mariah hit one of those high notes. I was 22 years old, at work and we had the radio on. They played, "Vision of Love". I was enjoying it and then out of nowhere I hear these super high notes being sung and I stopped dead in my tracks. I was beyond impressed. Had to check out this chick. Missed her name and the name of the song. Next time it came on the radio, I remembered her name. Bought her first cassette and was absolutely blown away. Almost 30 years later and I'm still a fan. Have all of her studio albums. Not a week goes by and barely even a day when I don't listen to at least one Mariah song. When I heard her voice for the first time, it was as if I'd waited my whole life to hear that voice. All these years later, I still feel the same way.

This song is extremely hard to sing. Sure there have been covers, but not one singer has ever kept up with the song's dynamics. The timing, runs, belts, whistles, and not to mention the low notes. Mariah also wrote this song whilst she was a teen. Which speak volumes of how knowledgeable she is in terms of music theory.

It's a whistle note. Female and some male singers can sing it but it's still considered rare. I believe this was on her first album. She was very young.

How can Americans not know Mariah songs like these? I'm always so surprised, coz even us in the remotest parts of earth know many of these American singing legends' songs.

It’s her whistle register she uses it a lot in songs some people call it the Mariah note because she technically made the whistle notes more public. And she was 21 or 22 the year was prolly 1991 or 1992

The colors of the video shows the different kinds of emotions and also the note that you're talking about is called whistle and mariah is one of the few artist or the only (Queen) who can really control and use it as vocal background. She has the most extensive range in music history. She can really go low and high in a split second. Do more mariah vids cuz we love to see you react to her vids.

Think that's something, you should watch her blow everyone away... I mean everyone from fans to coaches to players when she sang "Ameroca the Beautiful" before an NBA game.
