I received the nes version as a gift for my seventh birthday in 1992 (30 years ago!!). I had been playing the arcade for months and it was amazing to see the same game on an 8 bit. Best present ever!!

I had received it as a birthday gift for my 10th. I was obsessed with the arcade game to the point I would brainstorm up how a home port on the NES would be done. I also would draw my own TMNT arcade game rip offs and draw the levels out and what all the enemies looked like and stuff.

@@zogmorp The NES version definitely did not disappoint... It was good decent port, and it even had extra content added to it! Most people in my class (back then in middle school) agreed and they were arcade buffs!
The NES version is a fine example of a Arcade port done right. 1. Graphical effects like the fire in scene 1 were done really well on the NES. They even had the elevator section from the Technodrome. Also the cutscenes were good recreations from the Arcade. 2. The music was great also. Some fine chiptunes right there.

When TMNT 2: The Arcade launched I could not believe my own eyes. "What kind of black sorcery was this?" I thought. The game was so excellently crafted that I constantly lost myself while playing and feeling out of place when I stopped as I was not sitting in an arcade. The graphics were incredible, music sublime, and gameplay that is every bit as good as the arcade. I remember being a bit angry this game never made it to the Sega Genesis as it could have done it full out. It was one of the very few Nes games that drew me back in after getting my Genesis in 1989.
This is one of the best comparisons you've done, the pauses are exactly where they needed to be. I didn't know the NES had exclusive areas not found in the Arcade version!
I spent some of my paper route money on this game when it first released on the NES. I was absolutely blown away by how good the port was compared to the arcade version. It still holds up all these years later.

Now you're just being silly, the Arcade was still country miles better. You're comparing a Lamborghini to a Toyota, merit doesn't come into it. Nintendo were also very greedy for porting this to the NES in the first place, it should have been a Super Nintendo port, which would have yielded even better results and got closer to doing the arcade justice. The attempt here at 8-BIT didn't make sense, even though it was good for what it was.

Yeah although I don't recall FF for Sega CD having anything extra? Looked like a good arcade translation except for one minor thing. The girls they actually have them slightly longer shorts which I just watched but its so trivial. The thing with poison back then was a big deal not even Sega could get around it. Which is kind of funny since they were sneaky about MK 1 and the infamous bloodcode.

What's funny to me is American versions of games we allow the violence, blood, twisted stuff like you see in MK and Dead Space etc but Japan doesn't like that stuff but are more open with the nudity, sexier outfits aspect where as American games tone the sexual stuff down and sexier outfits now are considered "sexualizing women too much" lol but that's a whole other can of worms.. That's cool so the Sega CD version was like the SNES version of TIT with the built in soundtrack and time attack modes? Neat! I like how the SNES version of TIT had the fighting game mode too which nobody talks about but it's kind of fun how they have a mini fighting game mode in the game. Too bad the SG version of it Hyperstone heist didn't have those extra modes but still overall all of those games are fun.

Thank you for making this like totally radical comparison, dude! It's surprising how the NES port is both longer and harder than the original arcade game hahaha! In most cases it's the other way around. However, Super C on the NES also fits that description. In terms of other NES ports that did an incredible job in recreating the feel of the arcade experience, while actually managing to surpass their original counterparts, Gun.Smoke and P.O.W. Prisoners of War come to mind, as they both came up with new content and were much more fun to play, compared to their angry parents. Anyway, be sure to keep it up and NEVER give up!

If they make a TMNT movie or TMNT 4 film I would prefer with the 1990's animatronic style TMNT movie rathe then the CGI style turtles which did not work that well and looked over exaggerated and buffed up

i bet this gme wkuld have been awesome on snes.
Now this is how a port is supposed to be.. if you can't get a 100% 95% will do.. I know the NES was limited but what Konami did to make this port work on the NES is nothing short of amazing..
I think the real issue at the apartment complex is that people stored giant bowling balls in the top floors, that seems like a code violation to me hahah...especially unsecured and ready to just come lose and fly down the stairs. Bad timing that giant novelty bowling ball collector had hit apartment burn down and have them find their way down the steps! I loved Arcade game of this game as well as the NES version. The NES Version was way better because the fight with Dirt Bag in the snow level and the Samurai Guy in the typical dojo level. Also the battle against Baxter the Fly instead of Beebop and Rocksteady....which is ironic because the re-worked Sega Genesis game of Turtles in Time (Hyperstone Heist) has you fight him in his human form instead of his fly form in the Arcade/SNES versions of actual Turtles in Time. Hyperstone Heist was fun but the difference in sound is unbelievable between the SNES and Genesis, they're version of the amazing boss themes is just terrible. It sounds like they have sample rate of 16hz @ 96bits. SNES ALWAYS had that over Genesis...2 years difference in technology made a huge difference (Genesis/Master System), especially back then. They truly had some of the best sound in video games of that era and some are all timers like from the Squaresoft games (Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy "6", and Super Mario RPG (I can't believe I'm buying a System years after playing video games just for that game, but I bet Nintendo counted on that for being born in the mid 80's that played that game to death and have it in their top 5 video games ever. I bought a PS4 for 3 games: Kingdom Hearts 3, Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes. Just like I bought the Dreamcast back in the day for Code Veronica...only for it come out...and buying the"director's cut" for PS2 with my favorite (Wesker) literally 6 months later (with a demo to the upcoming amazing Devil May Cry).Games were infinitely better back then and slowly turned to trash at the end of 2000's...but also had showed some signs of that up to that point.

Well done.
You cold tell the arcade team made the nintendo version. It shows. The credits proves this too.
This is not a port. This is a miracle...

Very good point! I thought that this video was originally supposed to be about a fair comparison between 2 different versions of the TMNT game; NOT about console wars or developer politics. But according to Shithead the Troll, he obviously has a MAJOR problem with Nintendo games and unless he could make and publish his own TMNT game on Genesis, I just don't see what his point is? 🤨
Game was mind blowing at the time
My sister loves this game! 🥰
Hit detection in the NES version felt a lot better, just like how Turtles in Time on the SNES felt a lot better compared to the arcade version.
I love the Krang boss there
I remember having konami games for my nes they were the best games on the nes library this brings back memories ultra was another brand of konami for the nes i remember konami used the ultra name to skirt by the licensing restrictions that nes had at the time

The very first time I saw TMNT's arcade cabinet, I had the fortune to see it with a screen really big, just the wide as the joysticks table. I think it was a 40" size, 4:3. Correct me if I'm wrong.
miss that old videogame music style
A Versão no nes é um milagre e linda por sinal
Я думал что нет кинемотаграфичных игр про черепашек ниндзя. Но аркада топ
