In my view of psychotic disorders and Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorders, one has difficulty distinguishing between reality and false thoughts and perceptions. Not all people with a type of Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorder have hallucinations or delusions as there are multiple types of this disorder. Paranoid Schizophrenia includes symptoms like persecutory delusions and hallucinations and an irrational mistrust of others that often doesn't have a concrete basis. Hebephrenic (Disorganized) Schizophrenia includes symptoms like severely disorganized behavior, thoughts, and sometimes speech, as well as childish or foolish mannerisms. Catatonic Schizophrenia includes symptoms like abnormalities in motor behavior, stupor (lack of response to one's environment), echolalia (the mimicking of other's vocalizations), and echopraxia (the mimicking of other's movements). And Undifferentiated Schizophrenia is where one has symptoms that are scattered across the Schizophrenia Spectrum but don't qualify for a diagnosis of any of the subtypes, (e.g. showing disorganized behavior and hallucinations, or showing little to no positive symptoms like hallucinations or delusions and instead showing severe negative symptoms like restricted affect and anhedonia (lack of pleasure)).

My aunt was a paranoid schizophrenic and my mother suffers from schizo-affective disorder. I do not believe she is suffering from either of these conditions but I do believe she is suffering from delusions and fantasies which can come under different types of mental illnesses and personality disorders. Why do I believe this because she really truly believes her delusions and I can tell this young lady isn’t well as I’ve sadly been to mental hospital wards all my life on and off supporting my mother whenever she has been sectioned. She only got out of hospital a couple of weeks ago bless her. Mental illness is not easy for the sufferers or the families and the stigma that comes with mental illness needs to be demolished.

Honey, diagnostic of a condition like paranoid only come from a psychiatrist. And doctors don't confirm it until they examine everything. If you don't have it, it is a good thing.

It doesn’t make Sense tho that a doctor would diagnose medicine before meeting the person I’m 23 I told my therapist about this and then to my psychiatrist about this he diagnose with me schizophrenia I don’t think she would be lying but a doctor could diagnose anything from what she saying to them now if she really did have those symptoms I think psychiatrist or therapist would be better then doctor because they can do brain scans talk to her about the voices because they studied in mental health that’s all I’m saying

i don't think she is lying at all. she is saying what she believes. i think she may be paranoid, for sure, but always very aware of herself to be able to figure out she is paranoid. i have experienced it, too. watch the film, "a beautiful mind". the paranoid schizophrenic man has had to come to terms with his condition, and realising you have it doesn't cancel out the possibility that you do have it.

It is definitely possible to be aware of having the condition through guidance and education by doctors or reliable litterature and self-introspection. Most people with schizophrenia have episodes of psychosis and periods without positive symptoms. I ws diagnosed in 2012 and have since then had fleeting, on and off, awareness of my paranoid tendencies. That doesn't stop another paranoid thought from developing later with full belief. I've heard numerous people diagnosed with it who are aware of their hallucinations being that. Degree of conviction in a delusion is diagnostically significant, which is deemed less if there is awareness of the likely falsehood of the thought, but there can still be full conviction at a later or earlier time in the same, similar or different unrealistic belief.
