My Abu refused to accept dowry and ammi always reminded us of this. We heard stories from our in laws too and we saw the respect he got. This made a huge impression on us growing up. Last year my brother got married and he outright refused dowry when the girl's side broached the subject because our role model is Abu.

I told my parents that I will not take jahez with me to my susral at all. I just took my clothes shoes , books and some personal jewelry and makeup. My grandma was seriously panicked that on the first night she’ll be out of her susral if she doesn’t take jahez. My husband didn’t mind at all Alhumdulillah💝

Girls need to stand up against jahez as well If girls start rejecting boys because of jahez demands, maybe in next 15 years this problem will go down. To stand against jahez we have to make our girls an independent, strong person of community so they can support themselves nicely without any problems

No one can beat the sarcasm of teeli. Dowry is such a curse and is a social issue. I feel so blessed that my fiancé refused the whole dowry stuff, he bought all the furniture for his room and strictly told my parents not to buy any other stuff. We need more men like him in the society. 💯💯
