Oh, props to whoever said that this is I.N.'s song, because it just made me realise something: I have always considered I.N.'s voice to be the opposite pole to Felix'. They have both unusual tones that you don't often hear in KPop, but one is deep and warm, and the other is high and sharp. So, I was wondering if (or rather when) they would make use of that in their songs. And once that clicked for me, I realised that in many ways, in terms of vocals, The Sound is like the inversion of Maniac. Where Maniac goes for rap, The Sound has vocals and vice-versa. But more importantly, after the 2022 Korean title tracks dropped into their choruses with Felix - Hyunjin, now, we rise instead and it is I.N. - Han. I feel like I might be reaching a bit, but I still think the decision to invert the chorus and go high with the vocals instead of low, and also use Felix in the rise of a prechorus rather than as a calming drop like they usually did recently, isn't just a random choice. It'll be interesting to see if they do this for their next Korean title also, or if it is just for the Japanese release. :) But either way, happy to see I.N. get the spotlight!

Just when I think Chan can’t get any sexier he brings back the snarls when he gets into a choreo and now he’s a drummer!?! EPIC!!!! Just epic!!!! I love everything about this! They might be a little more polished, have a few more backers in the industry now but they are still SKZ!!! Their sound is unique and perfect! 🖤🖤🖤🖤 They still bring the noise and the thunder!! Love the imagery of storms and blowing the roof off and the metronome effects with the choreography and cinematography!!! Think this was the swinging effect, the metronome keeping time with music. Changbin & Han killed this and I love the archer imagery for Chan, firing up the rest of the kids when his arrow… his music… hits them. 2023 Stray Kids World Domination!!

The visual effects in this are so gorgeous. The editors really outdid themselves.

I kinda noticed something....At the beginning of the video, there are two sets of them. One in the mundane world & bored out of their minds. One in the music world radiating energy that crosses over to the mundane world & calls their attention. Both of them are trapped in the building/room. But there is a third set of SKZ who are outside & their outfits are a blend of the mundane & music. I think the outside set are a fusion of the two that were trapped inside, and they destroyed the room/building when they fused. It ends with them outside in a storm of energy with no building in sight because it was destroyed in the tornado of sound.

I.N's appreciation squad is in the building, LOVE IT

Thank you TeddyGrey. I think they are mimicking a Metronomes which is a tool that produces a steady pulse (or beat) to help musicians play rhythms accurately. You see the movement in the beginning with the hands and feet before they start the video. That is what it reminded me of. Just like the Metronomes they swings back and forth you get that feel through out the video. Stray kids music is like a drug to my ears and my ears are addicted to only their sounds. I thought the same thing before you said anything. This is I.N's song. His vocals on this was on point. The others too but he stood out the most to me on this song.

I first thought that too after hearing the audio, but when they’re dancing in the lab looking place there’s a Newtons Cradle in the background on the desk. Plus the piano note doesn’t match the timing of a metronome so I don’t think it’s that 🤔 I can’t wait for Chan to explain the video, hopefully somebody asks him on vlive soon so we can all stop being conspiracy theorists 😭🙏🏼 But I completely agree about this being I.N’s stand out track, he absolutely smashed the vocals already but his performance in this MV came across so much more confident!

The bg slow beat in The Tortoise and The Hare sounds like a pendulum. And now, so does the metronome. The beat doesn’t follow the same timing as a metronome though so I don’t think it’s that. The piano chord struck does match the timing of a Newtons Cradle/Pendulum though. Plus there’s one in the background when they’re dancing in the living room 👀

It definitely felt like IN was front-and-centre for this song. He really shone. I came to a conclusion with Hyunjin's hair. It was the colour I wasn't keen on (when he let it go a bit darker, it looked great), it made him look tired. Though it looks like he had just cut it, which was when MAXIDENT dropped. His grandfather had died a few days earlier, so I think he also looked a bit peaky in general

Some of the dance moves, the blue lightning, the headphones pose, the sound (monster), the clouds and destruction. Them sitting around the room looking sad reminds me of Ex. They're continuing to play with time. I dunno it makes me THINK YALL

I think that MV was filmed a long time ago as Hyunjin's hair now is a lot longer.

re- the camera's pendulum motion you mentioned, i'm pretty sure it's supposed to be simulating the movement of a metronome. the intro to the choreography (the initial formation that has them standing one behind the other) has them moving their limbs in tandem to mimic a similar movement, almost like they're keeping time for each other. and it would fit with the whole concept of "this is our sound", kind of like music About music. i could be completely off, but it's a thought. they always pay so much attention to these details and weave in their conceptual elements into not only the music but the choreo and video as well, it's insane.

My interpretation from this song from when they say "This is our sound." They made this song back in 2018-2019 so it's very old school Skz. But to me it's saying "This is us, you can't quiet us if you try to..We'll just get louder." Also that this is what they were meant to do ❤️ This music videos absolutely beautiful.

About Hyunjin’s hair. It’s fine that you don’t like it but he got a lot of hate for it :/ Hyunjin himself have said that he is more comfortable with short hair🥰 - Also a little heads up! They wrote this song 3 years ago (2020) so it has a vibe of “old skz songs”🤍

For sure. As a guy myself with long hair its quite annoying having them on my face lol. Its quite annoying unless when i style them and get them off my eyes or just tie them up. I definitely understand Hyunjin saying short/medium hair are more comfortable :)

I think the pendulum is the metronome. Counting the beats. They do a pendulum at the very beginning with the legs and arms behind Hyunjin. Then Binnie taps a pendulum with his finger. Its coming up over and over in this song.

When I first heard The Sound, I thought the track is very much like Horror movie vibe. Then, I was right, as later Chris said the title has been decided as it had a bit of horror movie feels. Now the MV is kind of giving me that as well. Typical elements like house and thunder is included. That’s how I saw it. My favorite part of the MV is the beginning part of the song including Changbin and Han rapping and Lee Know is dancing with them in trio.

I absolutely love your reactions! Stray Kids are a different breed of Kpop for real. Unlike anything else I've ever seen, honestly. The way I view the meaning of this song is... without music, without sound, our lives would be boring and mundane. We're only alive with the music coursing through our veins, when we experience the thunder of sound. Thank you for doing what you do and making me smile, Teddy!

Since the song talks about connecting their voices to the world and listening to cheers in their hearts it's almost like the video represents them creating their music and it taking the world by storm. Because like you said, in the normal setting they are lifeless but when the energy that had been in the alternate realm (the music ideas being created) gathers and is released (representing their finished music), a tornado hits the normal world and they are alive in it. Their sound brings life and energy to our world.

Though it was tough, I waited to listen to the song until the MV… Which means I also had to wait to watch GreyRACHA (gonna fix that shortly).
