I try to be better at checking fluids etc, but sometimes when I'm in a hurry to get in the field I fail at this...must get better LOL

I've got a Ford 671 that leaked from the bottom of the axle housing that bolts to the rear end so that is most likely where it is leaking and you can find the seals at Steiner tractor parts there not to expensive.

I was wondering how well your Ford pulled that tiller. Everything I've read in forums says that on the 601s, even in first gear it's too fast for the tiller.

601 is just the series, not the model number. If it has a 4 speed, it's probably 641. On the left side of the tractor, there is a horizontal flat spot on the transmission, just behind the starter. There will be two set of stampings, the top one will be the model number, the bottom stamping will be the serial number.

You are completely correct, second number is transmission. (4) 4 speed, 5 (5 speed), 6 (5 speed 2 stage clutch), etc.
