Ted took this business over from his Father . He (Ted) operated successfully for many years and grew the business to include 3 truck stops. This one in Ashfork Az, one in Quartzite Az, and one in Moriarity NM. The one in Moriarity is being operated by a different owner under the name of " Lisa' s". The Ted's Bullpens always had a real good cafe with a good buffet, pretty waitresses , and a lot of good friendships developed between the Gals and some of the regular drivers. Ted died of Cancer and I guess his heirs just let these places go.. Really makes me sad to see these places like this. Had a lot of good memories made there. Especially the one in Quartzite which is where Ted Lived.. At this one in Ashfork, the cafe sat on the west side of the property but I think that building has been taken down.

So creepy because I worked there in 1985! It moved location that year into the nearby town of Ash Fork. Not sure if that truck stop is still owned by same man. Very creepy!

Bill Headstream was actually the name of the owner's son. This was a great guy. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas, Bill featured a free all you can eat buffet for the drivers. Great food. He mingled with all the drivers and alway put them first. His wife, Vanessa was a beautiful lady. Bill's kids, after he passed away, I understand ran her off and took over the businesses. They ran it into the ground and that has lead to the deterioration of the property. I knew Bill and his wife. they had a mobile home on the property at Quartzite and invited me to watch the big screen tV and football games. I cannot say enough about the kindness of Bill Headstream.

The small keyboard u wanted to know about was the fuel pump control used to turn on and clear fuel pumps

I think it's obvious what happened here. Ted left for San Diego and gave the Bull Pen to the crows.

I watch a ton of horror movies so my brain is pretty much screaming "Don't go in there, you fool! You're going to be murdered by cannibalistic, chainsaw-wielding mutants!" 😳🔪⚰

Back in the 90s when I was trucking this was a regular stop for me... with 200 gallons of fuel you got a steak dinner for like 3 bucks. Guess the restaurant is completely gone since you didn't show it...

That weird looking keyboard is the electronic Gas pump board, you enter the amount on the pump and turn it on.

I've eatin in there probably 100 times back in the 90's when I was a kid riding to CA with my dad. only been out there once since it closed. literally made me cry. I guess that's how all the old truckers like my dad feel all the time. there was also a 'Ted's' in Quartzsite, AZ. (hope I spelled quartzsite right)

Sad Back when I was still driving over the road, I stopped at this place many times through my years of driving trucks. Sad to see it like that.

There were 2 locations for Ted's one in Ash Fork and another in Quartzite and now both are closed. Used to stop in Ash Fork 2 times a week on my way into shaky and on the way out. Fueled up both directions, ate the buffet and showered before going on down the road. On my last round to the shaky I found it was closed down.

I remember that truck stop in ash fork. I used to haul fuel to a Exxon station in that town.

When you showed that first 18-wheeler off in the distance I was reminded of that horrifying movie "Duel" by Steven Spielberg. I liked seeing the trees that were around there, the way the nature is coming back; tranquil setting.
