I use Marshall TSL 100 stacks as opposed to Peavey Amps but from the way you sound I'm sure the Peavey's are just as good or better !!!

Proud? This might be one of the most pathetic things I've ever seen, even if you ignore the weird sexism and lame jokes. That fact that he thinks "attituded" is the key to playing guitar, really shows in his playing. Just so we're clear, it's not good. If you honesty find him impressive don't worry, you'll get past the beginner stage one day.

Agreed, I grew up in the Detroit area and started playing guitar in 1974, Ted was a very big deal locally. He was also the reason that in 1976 I purchased a brand new Twin Reverb!

Taking the bus down Grand River to the Masonic auditorium paying $3.50 to see Ted Nugent guitar battle Frank Marino & Wayne Kramer. Was fantastic! Ted Nugent live is the best you'll ever see or hear Ted Nugent,,, number one recording act,77-80.if you don't believe me, check out Cal jam 2.played live in front of 120,000 screaming fans..

This came out the year I started playing guitar. I remember my dad buying it for me, because he was a huge Nugent fan and wanted me to learn how to play like him. It brings back memories. I was a 12 year old kid, but damn did it make an impact.

Ted Nugent, the only sonic psychopath that ever plugged a Gibson Byrdland into a Peavey 5150. I love it. 🤣🤣🤣

I’ve heard many ppl throughout the yrs saying, never meet your idols, they’ll only disappoint you. Not true, I met Ted back in 1990, and we became instant friends. I had NO expectations, therefore I was NOT disappointed. He is who he is, and will NEVER apologize for it. He is very passionate about his beliefs. He is the same person OFF stage as he is on stage, and I love that about him. He does talk too much, and I can deal with that, LMFAO!!!! But that’s Ted. I’ve been a fan since 1968 with the Amboy Dukes, and I’m still a fan to this day, and a friend for the past 33yrs. My point, don’t expect anything when meeting your idols. Accept them for WHO they are, and you won’t be disappointed. And for those that don’t know, that’s Michael Lutz from Brownsville Station on bass.

At 67 I am appreciating Ted more every day! Both his music and attitude!

I’m a Detroit kid. Ted married a girl I went to school with. Great family. Nice people. Ted’s in show business - an entertainer - and he’s a legend. Figure it out on your own.

This is fkn epic, a classic for the ages. Ted Nugent defines the spirit of rock n roll

I saw him jump off his fenders at the Silver Dome and land on his face, I think he broke his guitar. It was either that show ,or another, Iggy Pop opened and came out wearing panty hose...................he got pelted by every beer on the main floor, all at once. Good times.

I was introduced to Ted Nugent’s music in 1975 when the first solo album was released. My 13 year old ears were immediately dazzled. Insanely talented and creative player. Ted’s playing is pure: no pedals or gimmicks -just an amp, a guitar, and a love of music.

I was 13 in 1975 also. We lived Ted Nugent back then. That Lp was as thin as cat's wisker.

I got to meet him back stage after a concert. The thing I noticed the most is Ted likes Ted but I suppose that’s why he is Ted Nugent. His place in rock n roll is very large. Not all people can say they sold out arenas worldwide for several years & headlined the big major multi band shows. Truly the motor city madman

Aside from Ted's awesome playing and tone the most vital thing here is about dedication, endeavour and positive attitude: applicable to just about everything. Fantastic.

I been listening to uncle ted since the amboy dukes days. My uncle always steered us towards good music when we kids. Every Xmas it was a few good albums. AC/DC highway to hell 77. Nugent all his albums. On Vinyl and 8 track!! This gets me inspired. I remember watching Miami Vice episode he was in. I saw him 10 times

Terrible Ted love the guy For a mad man.from.Michigan.he has CLASS .HE and are MICHIGAN ROCKERS .RED WHITE AND.BLUE ROCKERS

This guy can really Jam! Saw Teddy play live at Binghamton Veterans Memorial Arena back in the mid nineties. It was worth every penny. Paid around $10 bucks for a concert ticket back then. Now they cost $50 bucks plus!

love those constant volume knob and pickup switch changes in stranglehold. Wow!!!! He can kill and restart a note so fast.

I could never be sober in the way he is as I love the occasional beer and smoke a joint a couple times a week but I really appreciate and respect people who are so comfortable being themselves that they never rely on drugs or alcohol. That said this is an amazing guitar lesson and I just love Ted and anyone else who can only be themselves and aren’t afraid to step out.

I know exactly what Ted Nugent is saying as a Harmonica (HARP) Player of over 35 yrs. I learned alot from ancient harmonica players as Little Walter, Kim Wilson, Charlie Musslewhite, Sonny Terry, Sonnyboy Wilson, Paul Butterfield and so many greats I attempt to emulate but have developed my own tone and style. But Ted Nugent is from another planet and world like TY Tabor of Kings X. The best!

He signed my 74 tele in 1994 and played it.

I'm having trouble attaching my Ted Nugent night vision scope to the neck of my Gibson Hollow body. :))

This is absolutely HILARIOUS. Can't believe I'd never seen it before. When I was in middle school & early high school I went through a good few years of listening to a lot of this guy (one of very first concert experiences). Not my kinda thing anymore, but this instructional video is GOLD. Hysterical parody of himself and he knows it, loves it, and completely nails it. I swear to you, I get a very Jim Carrey vibe from a lot of this, and would not be surprised if Carrey studied this over and over while he was getting his own early thing together. Unbelievable...

Did you notice@ 32:34 he says he is using Peavey 5150 but the peavey isn't even powered on !? The blonde showman is powered on and sounds just like Ted's tone from the past 30+years so I don't think he's using the Peavey amp even though he says it in the video, must be a sponsorship thing !?

Trump ?? Are you serious? I think you may have sat too close to Ted's stacks and they blew any sense out of your mind. He belongs in prison. He and his are thieves in the name of donations. Of course none made by himself. Just the poor uneducated people that he sent a couple hundred dollars to so you all think he's great as he steals millions. Snap out of it.

People today I don't think understand how hard it was to get good at guitar pre KZread. You had to listen to records over and over stopping and playing, trying to get the notes right. There were no tutorials, no good ones at least, and you had to really really love it too keep going. And to not only master guitar, but to become an artist, creating guitar parts and songs, that has to be something one was destined to do. Today, almost anyone can become a guitar player. Including me!

That is very True. I couldn’t count all the Hours I spent Practicing to Records or Tapes. You had to learn it on your own. Now you click on KZread and they will slow a Song down, and Teach you every Lead part slowly. It’s easy to learn now. Back then t took a lot of dedication and hard work.

Man, his right hand for rhythm is incredible. I'm so used to watching his left. I also really like the faux slide thing he demonstrates.

Yes! His right hand was the first thing I noticed...well, after the "wench." Most of the guitar greats have said over and over to "watch the right hand, THAT is where the REAL playing happens." I always try, but then I almost always shift over to the left! I think this is the first time I've ever been able to watch a guitar player's RH the entire time. The second thing I noticed was what he said later in the video, which was that he's "gentle" with his right. I think I noticed it because I just heard the same thing about Angus Young from his guitar tech. It's true, but Uncle Ted here is visibly more so than Angus.

@@jamesthe-doctor8981 He is also playing a short scale guitar. 23", I think, as opposed to the typical 24.75" gibson scale. makes a huge difference. Stupid fun to play. You can bend strings all to hell, and makes the player look bigger than they really are.

Thank you so much for this upload! I was blessed to see Ted in the 80s when he performed in Chattanooga, Tennessee. As a young 16 year old guitar player he had a great impact on me. He is a one-of-a-kind and has some of the best facial expressions. -Sometimes reminding me of Jim Carey.

And this was the year Spirit if the Wild debuted too, that's one helluva badass album with too many excellent guitar licks and riffs to count. After 20 years he released one of his greatest albums.

The man is full of spirit and full of excitement full of love, as well as off-the-cuff spontaneity.... that's the spirit of playing guitar❤ hes basically in a nutshell trying to explain to you that you must go to your inner self and unleash the power that we all have. To become unique.... 🔥 🎸.... just like Ted 👍

I actually have that very VHS tape sitting in a box near my feet under my desk. One great video.

Love him or hate him, this man knows his way around a guitar, and not a bad sense of humor either! LOL.

And he doesn't really know a lot about playing guitar either. He does have a decent technique, but he is bending all the weak notes, his phrases have no beginning and no end, and his timing is somewhere in between vague and non-existant making him sound in some ways like a beginner.

when I was a teenager, my Dad and other rock haters called it ''jungle music'' .Ted's guitar produces jungle music, and that is a compliment. something about Detroit bands. they're like urban jungle musicians.

I saw Ted in Lubbock Texas back in the day. He ended the show by hanging his guitar on his amp cab (while it was still plugged in) and then shooting it with a crossbow. Dude is awesome.

I opened this video just to take a peek and it just kept rolling from start to finish. Now an hour has passed. Totally worth it!

Love him or hate him.... he's right on everything he says. Plus, you can't deny his playing.

Plus one more Nugent of truth for you (see what I did there). I’m pretty sure she said she was into chicks, plus she looks mean with that bow man. I’m not going up against that. Much respect though for defending the little lady, but she looks like she’s got more spark than a Detroit piston (also see what I did there). Big fan of her playing on Stray Cat Strut. You got taste my man!

Even though he's already rated as one of the best guitar players of all time. He's still underrated. Fantastic guitar player!

@@joejones9520 I've seen Ted 3 times back in the day selling out 22,000 seat arena's. He's never really been underrated. He's had his glory days.

FINALLY there is a REAL Rock Star that uses an ultra-thin pick like me. It seems like all the other big fish prefer these super rigid thick picks. I’ve been using ultra-thin Dunlop nylon picks my entire life and simply can’t use anything else.

Not sure what style you play but I’d tend to agree with that myself . I just can’t seem to comfortably use the really thick picks. I can’t seem to get a feel for how hard or soft I’m picking and especially when I’m playing faster stuff the control just isn’t there for me with a too thin or too thick of a pic. I love metal guitar the best ( but also love blues , classical , instrumental only guitar centred bands or solo players ( Joe Satriani-USA , Angel Vivaldi - USA I think , Andy James- british , Distant Dream -they are amazing/ from Poland , Widek- from Poland also , Hubris , God is an Astronaut and a few others ) and also most heavier types of hard rock ) because they don’t slip when you sweat ( I always liked the strange or special kind of plastic they use ) Ever since the first time I tried one my friend had when I was 18 ( I’m 51 now) I’ve always used Dunlop -Tortex orange .60 mostly. or occasionally the thicker Dunlop- Tortex yellow .73. For me anyways anything under or over that thickness just either doesn’t feel right or flex enough or it’s way to much on the thin side and it’s too floppy enough to really dig in and get a good pick attack on the choppy heavy riffs . I like the pick slightly thick but still pretty flexible, if I need to make it flex or just be stiffer I just change the choke pinch point on it. I think my ultimate pick would be in between the orange and yellow thickness a Dunlop Tortex .66/ or .67 but far as I know they don’t make them …

He’s definitely tedlier on the Byrdlands than he is on his signature Zebra PRS. They’ve always allowed him to be the tedliest he can be.

Ted Nugget was my first guitar hero, I played Cat Scratch Fever till I wore a grove through my record. Then Van Halen came along and I begged my dad for an electric guitar 🤘🏼🎸🎵

Ted Nugent one of my all time favorite guitarists who I've seen many times over the years a huge inspiration to creating recording and playing music awesome ferocious intense Rock 'n' Roll, I bought this video on VHS tape back in 1995 at Chuck Levins Washington Music Center a fantastic video to get fired up, motivated to play, learn and Rock Out!!!

Still the loudest concert I've ever been to. Chrysler arena Ann Arbor Mi, Insanely loud

Went to see The Who at JFK Stadium in ‘82. Outdoor stadium mind you. 157,000 people. It is not far from the airport. When they started playing, it was mind numbing. We could see jets taking off, but could not hear them. You could scream as load as you wanted, but needed hand gestures to be heard. Happens I go to see Black Sabbath the next weekend at an indoor show and I couldn’t hear them. I was still damaged. The Who is the loudest man made entity I have ever heard in my life.

Saw him in the early 80's at the peak of his Wango Tango powers ....my ears literally rang for 3-days after that 3-ringer show!.....close 2nd for sheer volum-ocity was Motorhead.

Gotta love Teds playing style. I could spend hours just listening to him jamming.

I remember going to all the Ted Nugent Concerts every time he came to Houston. The Houston Chronicle reported that his Concerts were as Loud as a B52 Bomber at full Throttle inside a Hanger. His Concerts were Loud, Proud, and Always a great Show. He was the wildest person I’ve ever seen playing on Stage of any Concert. It was Great Times. I Love his Politics also. I even learned to play all of his songs.👍👍👍😁

UNCLE TED IS THE BEST! Getting to meet him a LONG TIME AGO was a privilege .

My shrink asked me "you're anxiety, why so bad this week?"....I answered, There was this KZread video.... I showed it to him. Now HE'S on medication

Funny guy. I've never stopped to listen to him, he's more 80s than 70s as I pictured him before.

I was watching a YT on Steppenwolf when I happen to see this for the first time. Teds energy and way with words is as entertaining as his skill on the fretboard he's like a comedian guitarist on steroids without the steroids

I can fully agree with that ! I never really thought about it ! guess I just have always assumed he already was…. 2023 ! Induct Uncle TED Damn it ! Or the whole Rock’n Roll Hall of Fame thing really won’t mean much in the future! If a dude can be a monster player like that for 45 YEARS! and still not get in… as far as I’m concerned… that is a Serious Oversight on their part! That needs to be addressed This Year! 2023 R’nR hall of fame inductee Ted mf’kn Nugent !!

He’s the guy in the late 70’s that got me into RnR guitar 🎸 playing . Mad as a box of frogs but love his attitude.

Ted's in a class all his own. Great player. One of my favorites. I used to play Great White Buffalo for my older brother all the time when I was younger. Used to blow his mind. He loved that tune.

Ted Nugent is one of my favorite master guitarists. Guitarist, singer, songwriter, performer----Uncle Ted is the TOTAL PACKAGE DEAL. Plus, he was ALWAYS gorgeous to watch...Mmmmmm. Loved him since I was a kid listening to the Amboy Dukes "Journey To The Center Of The Mind" sounds even better now than it did back then. Ted Nugent is simply THAT fantastic!!!

Great! A unique player. The stuff he does behind the tailpiece and the slide without a slide freaks me out. Reminds me a little of George Lynch (!) in that he hears some notes that most people wouldn't. Thank you for sharing! It's the first time I saw it today.

I’ve always loved Ted’s 🎸 playing since I was 14 ! Im 51 now!😄 I’ve also always been a huge George Lynch fan ! He’s by far the biggest reason I’ve always listened to Dokken for so many years. That dude is a beast on a guitar 🎸 ( Tooth and Nail, Paris is Burning, Mr. Scary and lots of others but those are my favourite top 3 ) still as good or better than any modern shred master…. Except may Joe Satriani ! Probably no explanation required there… I’ve seen him Live and That dude was so amazing it was completely insane good 👍🏻 and from everything I’ve ever seen the most humble guy on the planet ! Because that is how a true guitar god acts and reacts with his fans! I was also lucky enough to have Joe autograph my Ibanez electric guitar that night. Check out his newest record Elephants of Mars - track - Sahara , he does a really cool double bend whammy bar trick that I’ve I’ve never heard anyone ever use.
