There’s one that went 110 rounds I think, around the 1890s. By the 109th the fighters couldn’t land a single punch. Both of both their hands had been broken and they were too badly beaten to land a punch, all they could do was stand. Since none of them could fight, I believe the ref stopped it and called a draw.

20 rounds and back in those days if I'm not mistaken they fought in 4 oz gloves which were essentially bareknuckle cause the horsehair would shift to the sides

Because as you can see, these old fights are mostly clinching and tussling with not so many blows to the head. Later, as boxing progressed the clinching was reduced to only a couple of seconds before the ref splits them, which resulted in more clean punches being thrown and hit, which combined with a 15 or more round fights resulted in multiple death in the boxing ring, specifically the Mancini vs Kim fight was the one after which the 15 rounds gradually got reduced to 12.

no...not really.., peoples life expectancy back then was the average of 50 years old compared to today..You could argue fitness but look at how they fight..they actually dont move around that much..they really stood toe to toe but they dont waste too much energy.
