(And you didn't imply this, but reminder for ppl not to conflate low intelligence with "dropping out" since it can be done for many different reasons, a GED is treated as equal, & it doesn't stop one from going farther in their education with college or trade/vocational schools.)

@@hellcat1988 I don't think it makes you weird, or at least, even if it did, it's not a bad thing. People having diverse interests and obscure knowledge is a great thing! If everyone was interested in the same mainstream things, we'd never get anywhere, whether personally or as humanity in general. Sometimes people get freaked out by others knowing more than they do about obscure topics, and while it can be unpleasant, that's more of a reflection of them than it is of you. Plenty of people have thought I'm stupid and uncultured for not knowing the things I don't know, and ultimately I don't care for those people's opinions because that's a narrow-minded viewpoint, expecting others to know everything they _expect_ them to know. Props to Danny expanding on the civil war thoughts. People get caught up in the names and years and numbers, but the thought that both sides thought they could win is the most important thing to keep in mind. It seems its so often taught briefly and mostly as the south was silly to fight and had no chance. They set up an entire congress and government with a military with supply lines, ammo depots, fortifications etc and won plenty of battles even coming within striking distance of the U.S. capitol.

De Beers' slogan "Diamonds are forever" was part of their campaign to change the public view to make diamonds valuable. Their advertising campaign is the reason diamond engagement rings are the norm, why diamonds are heirlooms, and why the social view is that if you don't spend like 5 months of your income on an engagement ring, you don't love your partner enough. They're not even rare or valuable otherwise
