    Brands worth mentioning: Guerrilla Group and enfin leve

  • @THECASUALco

    @THECASUALco

    7 жыл бұрын

    Guerrilla Group is probably the most accessible "true" techwear we've seen as far as price is concerned, enfin leve on the other hand is more pragmatic. It's tech but simple enough to be anything else. Past collections from enfin leve were hardly tech at all and more in the "Rick Owens" side of design.

    both of those brands are purely aesthetic though. other than pockets they aren't actually tech, materials on gg are notoriously fast-fashiony

  • @THECASUALco

    @THECASUALco

    7 жыл бұрын

    Let's rephrase and say "the look" is true techwear or at least the image of what most people want. Many people use GG for their set-ups and it consistent. The fast fashion element is due to trend and silhouette more than anything. The materials aren't so much. ECOYA and ripstop fabric are legit which is what GG uses a lot of. Most of there garments are waterproof as well. So when you mention it's not tech the counter argument would have to be "then what is?" ACRONYM is by far the most viable but if you can't afford it where do you go? The next best thing is either pulling from various brands OR GG

  • @KurosakiDuy

    @KurosakiDuy

    7 жыл бұрын

    THE CASUAL I guess you can say techwear is kind of a subjective term, but in the end it's all about the materials to protect you from the elements to a lot of pockets to carry various items. GG is in a kind of state where the clothes are purely focused on the look and access to a lot of different pockets I think.

    this video kinda explains it's not inspired from anime at all. If anything anime that exhibits techwear is usually inspired by real world fashion and real people who actually wear it already. techwear looks the way it looks cause it's functional and it does seem to be inspired by ninja or athletic wear or futuristic functional wear just like he states in the video. it reminds me of just a match or mix of clothes that serve a purpose or like harajuku style it's a mixture of clothes to great a unique style or silhouette or look

    For more Errolson Hugh designed stuff, obviously you've got Acronym and Nikelab ACG, but also Stone Island Shadow Project which is a darker take on techwear. For a cleaner tech look, more simplistic and less ninja check out brands like Outlier, and Arctery'x Veilance. Brands like Guerrilla Group tend to verge more on cosplay... plus Y-3 is guilty of a lack of tech materials with an inflated price point, whereas something like ACRNM has actual substance and function.

    So, basically, if I take any old military / police jacket / pants in black and combat boots and add few stylish elements to it, I might be the coolest techwear walking?

    Well, there are many military-based brands that produce very nice looking "futuristic" clothes and are not overpriced as these tech-wear brands. Well, they are of better materials (very often, not all ofc), some better looking - personal pref. ofc, but one is meant for fashion, the other for usage. Seen many jackets/ shirts / pants that would fit nicely into tech-wear, but "famous branding" is missing.

    Considerably you should check Under Armour for good quality Techwear too, i bought a full set of windbreaker, water-resistant pants and a simple pair of Nike Huarache and they look lit AF, if they came with an Air Force 270 which has some tech-wear element in it (search on google for more pictures),they would look better. Although ACG, Y-3, The North Face look great, but they are hella expensive.
