Technology isn't fun anymore

Ойындар

I've had my ear to the ground for the tech industry for as long as I can remember. But the last few years just make me hate even admitting that I once enjoyed this stuff. Let's talk about it!

I value my time and that's why I use Linux. I don't have to bother with cumbersome licensing, creating accounts, logging in or having to disable features that mysteriously re-enabled themselves after updates.

Hey, I'd like to use linux because I dont really feel like using windows anymore since it's became worst and worst privacy wise. Do you have any recommendations for a linux distribution that is not too hard to use ? I mostly use my computer for gaming so i though of Garuda but i want to ear your suggestions ! :)

Yeah, I'm actually putting together a big ass tutorial about Linux now but as for distro recommendations, my biggest advice would be to go with something extremely popular and boring. Sad to say but "gaming" distros just aren't reliable. Not to say the people who maintain them are untrustworthy. What they're doing is super cool. But for your first experience with Linux, it's best to keep it simple and above all, stable. My 3 big recommendations are: Debian/Ubuntu based - Linux Mint. Good for low power systems, beginner use, and extremely stable. Downside is that the stability comes with also being behind on certain packages/features. It'll take more work to get the latest and greatest. Red Hat - Fedora. Its a good middle ground between stability and newest features. Good support from a larger company with the money to keep it going. Downside is the aforementioned big company. If you have reservations about that, you might want to avoid. Arch based.. Well, plain Arch is good. Its my main distro for my workstation but its definitely not for the faint of heart. Even with beginner focused arch distros like EndeavourOS, which I also highly recommend, there's still a lot of info you NEED to know before you go into Arch. You remove the training wheels and it'll be on you to keep up with the rolling release cycle. Its a lot of info, I know. TL;DR: go with Fedora. Get your feet wet, play some games, see what works and doesn't work. Any knowledge you gain will benefit you, even if you don't end up sticking with that distro. Hope this helps!

For stability mint seems to work great. Ive been using it for a while now. If you want arch based though archo seems to look good too. I'm not sure what the best one is though.
