Same here! Had to watch the tutorial to fully understand its purpose.
Here's someone who practically shows how to use slicer like a charm! Wonderful job, Chris!
For those that have asked, the tracklist is as follows: LL Cool J - Mama Said Knock You Out Dada Life - Rolling Stones T-Shirt Actual Phantom - Bassline Skanker (Loop) Robbie Rivera - Get On The Floor Elite Force vs The Gossip - Control The Engine Kid Ink ft. Chris Brown - Show Me
The Kid Inc trick was unreal. Thanks for the tips, bro!
How did I end up here I was watching a guy slice up a cucumber...

Best tips out of all the ones that I've seen over the years...
thank you. i have recently started using a controller (ddj sr) with serato and this video just made my day... i am gonna try this today... awesome! thanks
OMG Slicer is SOOOO much fun and cool! Its amazing how infinite possibilities exist to create new mixes with the Serato effects.
Thank you for this detailed and informative demonstration. It really taught me how to properly use the slicer. BTW great transition!
Woww!!! Used that slicer mode like a Boss.... Great tutorial...
Just sick how you make it look easy to change the BPM to the Chris Brown song. I'm going to try and use the slicer right away! Thanks for the great video :D

How hard is it?? Sync mode is on!!
This was very awesome. I just got my DDJ-SX and this gives me some more ideas.
Threw in a thumbs up for that transition mix. Very smooth.
you guys are just awesome! Cheers Chris for always providing such wonderful DJing tips! Cheers and keep up the good work!
good stuff. i've really been wanting to take my 380 to the next level for live performances with a band, not just djing. this video was very helpful and inspiring. i still never got my free tee shirt!
Cool stuff! Loved the transition from house at the end especially. 👍
I really enjoyed this video I did not get the full version of it but you help me a lot thank you
that lil controller is pretty dope.. good for some back yard Get down's.. or a small wedding.. etc... but ain't nothing gonna replace my DDJSX2 THATS THE BIG BAD BOY!...

Kevin Loftus The Vci 380 it's pretty dope the only people that started having many problems with the platter because you can adjust it but after around the platter is hard it to get at adjust once is 3 or 4 months, many friends of mine they love the piece but after they had the problem, that's why I think they don't make it anymore

Wait till you try the DJ 808. Lol. You can make beats on the fly!!
last one is BIG! top notch man.
Great Video. I wasnt familiar with this effect in Serato and I love the way it works. Its nice when you see an effect that works the way you envisioned it should in your mind. I see so many great ways to incorporate it into a set.
Wow man it's an awesome Techniques ,thanks for sharing.
Fuck me DjTechTools doing a Serato tutorial for once... Wow haha
Thanks for this fantastic tutorial. I have a Vestax VCI-380 controller and Serato DJ but when I use the slicer I only add a few extra snares or kicks. I didn't know what else to do with it for Deep House and Nu Disco until now.
That's a clever trick for the BPM transition.
Thanks for sharing this knowledge.
Thank you! Chris Brackley~
That technique was awesome. Thank you.
great job from Rane team for the Serato soft. ! Native Instrments do also lots of great jobs for the Traktor soft. ! Don't know why so many big dj's & clubs are still using only Pioneer Cdj's without soft like traktor/serato :( :( :(
good work king, love you
Another great video from you guys! Cheers! -Bpm Supreme Record Pool
finally a good video on slicer
cool mix,nice sounds.
Nice work DJTT, love the techniques :)
great little tutorial 👍
Great Video... Will definately give Serato a go again with my Novation Twitch
i have found the slice pretty useless, but it would make more sense if you used it within a loop like you did. kinda feel silly i didn't think of that b4. And that house to hip hop mix was sweet, very impressed
@tylrbass

I've found it most useful for quickly creating a loop.. I'm sure there is a better way to do this but I'm new to Serato
Badman! that was sick!!
awesome slicer technique....love it
I think the slicer technique can be remade in traktor, using loops in small increments and turning on flux mode. both softwares are awesome though
Thank you for this.
Very very good many thanks for chearing...
very good tips! thanks man!
Excellent video, ive learned a good deal from this. How do I delete the slices,,, I was having an experiment the other day with a track but every time I load it now the slicer samples are saved on the track and I dont want them there. Using a NV controller.
Gre888 thanks for sharing the knowledge
How to you make the slicer move throughout the song. Mine constantly stuck in those 8 bar loops.
Can u guys do a video playing serato with a numark mixdeck?
This is a great video. What is the name of the Skanka track?
Great stuff, cheers forvthe tips mate
It was very helpful. Thanks a lot...
you're a beast Mojaxx
can i use the vci 380 without a serato sl soundcard? is it ready to go out of the box? is it still good today??
Wonderful video. You are a Master! Only too dark though
How are you using it without any audio cables connected to it?
Great, thanks !
Brilliant!
looks like fun, traktor needs to catch up, or i may need to start saving for a sdj
@palasako8732

trust me.. you dont want to do that. traktor is still years ahead of serato in terms of effects and mapability. I have serato hardware and i have it all mapped for use with traktor.. Plus don't forget that traktor has the remix decks and the sp6 sampler on serato is a lame excuse for a sampler.

so how do u get the pad to purple after pressing slicer ?
Nice! thanks a lot !
how do I do this same thing on my ddj 1000 using rekordbox?
When i'm on slice mode the loop stop function some times (the slicer plate goes on).. how i do i kipp it in the loop limits?
What's it called what he was doing at the start?
Is there any way to map slicer to a midi controller? I have a numarck mixtrack pro, serato dj and an akai lpd8
@terpkore3798
9 жыл бұрын
on traktor yes, last time I checked it was not possible on serato ;)
Thank you Sir!
great tips! thanks for this! :-)
Awesomeee THNKS
Ok trying figure how mix using 2 or 3 sounds
Is this possible on a Mixtrack Pro 2 on Serato?
DEE JAY TECH TOOL'S!
THANK YOU
thanks
Looks quality
did anyone manage to do this same routine on virtual dj? I think the slicer in virtual dj is not as accurate or works as a serato or rekordbox
slicer is so simple but effective.
Damn, as a traktor user I really fuck with slicer mode...Come on NI
What's the name of the first song please ?

Would be nice if Serato didnt mess up the beatgrids when analysing, normally 0.5bpm out

I do find it quite a bit of a pain in the ass, Serato beatgridding is challenging many times.

+TheDjOfChoice If you're even a half-decent DJ 0.5 BPM is ridiculously easy to compensate for. Quit being lazy and do your job as a DJ.

I don't understand what the purpose is of holding down the "silent slice button" while your doing the drum hits. Anyone know?
@jaredfox892
9 жыл бұрын
Zack Hutchinson Hard to explain... but Serato wont let you use the slice mode if the song isn't playing. If you don't have a silent part of the slice, then you will hear the song - Which will overlap the song playing on the other deck. --- So by having a silent part, you can still slice up a song, without using the cross fader to go back and forth between decks. Lol, sorry if this seems confusing. Hard to explain.
@funkdoc14

Actually, that explanation was perfect and after reading this and playing around a bit with the slicer, I know EXACTLY what u are saying. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

@Psythik

+GreY tZu The audio is being sent digitally via USB. Windows/OSX treats the controller's audio interface just like any other USB sound card. All you have to do is use something like Audacity to record and set the controller as your recording source. No analog outputs required. I stream my mixes live and that's how I do it. If you look at the back of my NS7 II the only cables hooked up are power and USB. My controller shows up as "Numark NS7 II Audio" under Sound in the Control Panel, just like any other sound card.
Amazinggggggggg
First Track: Mama Said knock you down by ll cool j
Am I the only one that noticed that they're was no speakers hooked up to the controller or any wires running to the laptop?

Looks like the USB is covered by the overlay at the start. Probably using internal playback.

Dude!!!! Get some lights!!!!!
I'm going to prepare to embarrass myself within this comment section. *sigh* Here goes: I'm extremely new to all of this. I'm trying to pick this up as fast as I can, but at the same time, I'm willing to devote time to it. I just want to know where I can get tracks so that I can put together? I am Windows user that recently switched to Mac. (big transition). I just need some advice. Thanks in advance!

Don't know if it's too late to answer but have you tried looking up record pools? djtechtools did a few articles/blogs about them.
i wonder what nice musical things u can do with this if one would use quality music, instead of these tracks in the video... -_-
I thought you were mojax
Always laughing at thoose "strictly only vinyl" guy... do a transition like this on vinyl 😂
Dude your equipment is not plugged in
