I had a chance to talk to Bob at an ITA event years back and bought his book on Doodle Tonguing which allowed me to really advance. One night, walking into the Hilton Woodland Hills I heard the unmistakable sound of Bob playing jazz in the lounge. I remarked to my co-pilot that he was hearing the incomparable Bob McChesney live. He looked at me like I was on drugs. Bob has an unmistakable sound. I stopped in and said hello. Thanks Bob! Harry Allen

I just heard this unbelievably awesome Trombone this evening and had to look him up!😃👍. I played the Trombone, and have a great appreciation for those who stuck it out. What a great sound when played so well as you do. I’m very happy to discover you. Thanks for the great music. Looking into buying some of you albums/CD’s.

Has anyone wondered if a couple of metronome markings are incorrect? For example the progressive slur exercises starting on page 15 indicate the half note gets the beat and starts at 72 bpm and goes up to 132 bpm. I can do most of the other exercises at top speed but can’t get past week 5 with that one. Is it just me?

This is very interresting! I do practise this technical studies a lot, but I have a problem I don`t know how to solve: "I produce too much saliva when I practise doodle-tounging"! I often need to swollow. My problem is that this disrupts my technical progress. In shorter terms I do manage this technical movements, but i longer periods I produce too much saliva. Is there anybody out there among trombonists who can give me som advice what to do..- except start smoking, ha-ha.. ;-)

I noticed that I would have that trouble also. I generally have to clear my mouth prior to starting an excerpt to make sure it doesn't accumulate too much as I play through.
