Keep Coming back to this vid. I wish all archers would know how to do this even the casual ones. It is so simple and instantly makes long range fun and possible.

Walk back tuning is the simplest way for the average Joe to get his bow's center shot dialed in and make your broadheads group with your field points. All you need is a target that will allow enough room for the drop. I have 4 straw bails ratchet strapped tight to a pallet for example. Hang a string from the top to the bottom of the target with a little weight on the bottom to get a perfect straight vertical line then mark with tape all the way down or just shoot at the string itself. This is what I do. Assuming you are already dialed at 20 yds. Put a target dot near the top of the target. shoot 1 arrow at 20 yds. step back to 30 and keep using your 20 yd. pin and shoot at the same dot. the arrow will drop in under the first arrow. repeat this out to 50 or 60 yards if you have the room. If the pattern leans left or right you will see it. adjust your rest as needed until you are able to chase that line all the way down. Then enjoy perfect broadhead flight.

Hey. Learning a ton from your vids. Two questions: 1. I assume you walk back tune after the initial paper tuning. Will the slight adjustment to the rest affect the paper tune? 2. I have the Bowtech Reckoning with the worm gear cam adjustments. Do I adjust the cams or the rest for the walk back tuning? Thanks again. Good stuff!

Honestly I just bare shaft tune and it accomplishes the same thing as walk back tuning. Once I achieve a good bareshaft tune, my walk back tuning is always dead on.

Love your videos. What do you think of French Tuning, 3 yards and 9 yards?

Yeah so french tuning and walk back tuning are actually the same thing. I usually start at 5 yards and walk back to 30, shooting an arrow every 5 yards. The key is that you have to make sure all your axis' are set because if they aren't you'll see a right to left or left to right drift even if your bow is tuned correctly

Question. I am paper tuning my bow. But i am left handed. How does this change my corrections for a tail right and high tear? If im left handed, does that make the chart corrections opposite for right handed shooters?

Yes. Find a paper tuning corrections chart online and do the opposite for left and right tears. Most charts will assume a right handed shooter. For vertical tears, it doesn’t matter what your dominant hand is. All the same adjustments apply for every shooter in that case.

How do you know if it’s your rest or sight? I’m shooting a spot hoggg fast eddy lx. Shooting 20 yards dead on but 30-40 and out was way left. I micro adjust my sight and brought it back to center on the long shots and it seems ok at 20 still but now I’m wondering if it was my rest?

Generally, anything past 20yds and you want to move the rest.

You could be fine. If you're was only a ½" off at 20 it will be several inches out at 40. If it didn't affect your point if impact at 20, but got you dialed at 40 you are probably good to go!

So u adjust your sight at 3 yards and when u get to 50 adjust your rest ? When u go back to 3 yards u have to readjust your site again ???

Yes. If one needs to make rest adjustments then one will have to make sight adjustments.

Yes. Sight in Perfectly at 3 yards. Then shoot at 50. Adjust accordingly. Then re sight at 3 and shoot again at 50. You can also hang a sting or set a vertical line of tape on the target ( use a level to make sure it's perfectly vertical). Sight in perfectly at like 5 yards, then walk back 10 yards at a time until you get to 55. Your arrows should stay in a straight line. If they walk left it right, adjust accordingly

This only works if you have 50 yards indoors because even the slightest breeze will knock the arrow off at 50 yards. So you'll be moving your rest to counter the wind rather than an alignment problem. I do something similar from 3 yards to 20 yards indoors using a plumb line as a target. My bareshaft tune rest position is 3/8inch to the left off my walk back position. I would sooner have a good walk back than a bullet hole at 3 yards

Yeah its the same concept! Where my bow ends up shooting the best is usually not a perfect bullet hole past about 10 ft.
