OLD Crew Chief here. I was there just over 50 years ago, if you can believe that. You nailed the first day there; I went straight to the club and got crazy sht faced. Took me an hour to find my dorm after that. Then immediately got violently ill out the window of my room. My new roommate was NOT impressed. Settled in after that and got 'er done.. Good on you young guys taking the reins.

Thank you for sparking so many memories for me. I was there for tech school in 86. Forgot all about the Phase System. There wasn't much to do around there in the 80's. Someone always rented a car off base from Rent-a-Wreck on the weekend and we'd drive around with no place to go. There was a sleazy strip bar and tattoo joint right off base. I do remember having a lot of good times at the Airmen's Club. Back then we got away with a lot of things that the AF of today wouldn't tolerate - for good reason. Xander, take advantage of every educational opportunity offered while you're in. You'll thank yourself for the rest of your life. Thank you for serving!

I went through Sheppard in 1985 for crew chief school then again in 1995 for E and E.

Long time since I was stationed there. WEAPONS RULE! Have fun while you're there! Remember to keep your flashlight on you if you're out on base.

Nothing has changed there. Its a training base thats about it. Did my 3 afscs there and got out at 14 years. Miss the place and the training there.

How old were you while you were at Sheppard? I’m going to Basic in about a month from now and then I’m going to Sheppard and I’m currently 24. I’m going to be at Sheppard for somewhere between 6-10 months depending on which Aircraft I get assigned with my shred, I got an avionics job.

Went to EAUC at Shep. Have fun and be safe.

When I made that vid that’s how it was but they changed the rules so get phase 3 as soon as possible so you won’t need a 4392 anymore

I got Aircraft metals tech, do you know anyone at Sheppard that has that, if so what have they said about it. I leave for basic on the 28th then im off to sheppard after that for 67 days of tech, and i just wanna know what im up for.

Is your family able to visit on the first weekend you get there after BMT?

No they are not. You are in Phase one for 14 days, that means that you can’t go Off base or have visitors. Starting day 15 you are phase 2, you’ll then have more freedoms such as the ability to have visitors but if they are going to stay in town you’ll have to book a hotel and stay off base with them. When you’re off base in phase 2 you will have to wear your uniform and phase 3 starts on day 45 and that is when you have full freedoms. Your freedoms are earned and not given freely.

Hey idk if you're still on this journey but I was able to lose 80lbs in about 6 ish months in order to join. My advice is to start running on a consistent basis and to count your calories and eat at a decent calorie deficit. There are some solid apps out there that make it really easy to track all of that. Good luck with everything

Don’t know what you’re status is, whether you’ve joined already or not, but when it comes to BMT, honestly think of it as a “game”. And what I mean by that is, the MTIs are there to try and scare you. Take them serious, but know all the screaming they do is to push you. Don’t take things personally, if you mess up, own up to it, learn from it, and move on. Take the opportunity of BMT to learn as much as you can. Think of it this way: you’re getting paid to work out, eat 3 meals a day, and have a bed to sleep in every night. The hardest part of BMT is being away from friends and family, and basically being cut off from the outside world. Keep a low profile, and you’ll be just fine.

You did HVAC? Was the course hard?
