@@TheAcroReef425 i'm curious if you would go with GHL again vs. Neptune Apex, some people rave about the Mobius app but I don't know anything about the GHL app. I would love a demo of the GHL automation software, it does look more evolved than Mobius at first glance.

I have also a RedSea 650 for 3+ yrs, using Apex/Neptune which I actually DON'T like, btw. 😮 Ever used kalkwasser ? I dose a slurry at night using a PH probe. Solves more than 1 prblm in that way. Top notch tank, thank you for sharing. 😊❤

Lol Thank you for the kind words! I did take my time with the planning phase before the tank was even ordered. Even along the way, I always pondered ways to keep as many wires out of sight as possible. The idea of having a bunch of modules or wires sticking out from the front of them would drive me up a wall. The ProfiLux helps keep things tidy. 😅 I've never used Kalkwasser, but I have considered it for this tank since lowered pH is a side-effect of running Ozone. The challenge is finding a way to keep the extra equipment consealed.

Wow the attention to detail is incredible. The GHL automation really seems to be leaps and bounds ahead of other aquarium controllers. What kind of learning curve is it to program the sensors and functions? Do you need to know coding to do the programing? I am tech savvy but I lack programming knowledge. What kind of time frame did it take to get to your current set up? Thank you for sharing much appreciated. I am in the planing stages for my dream set up. I am considering either a water box peninsula 7225 or a Cade peninsula 1800. I want the tank to have dynamic dosing and auto water changes as well.

Thank you! I will say that what's in the tank now for automation was a steady progress. The initial setup was pretty straightforward, and I don't think you have to be technically savvy to set it up. It took me about 2 full years to get the "core" of my automation goals completed. That includes testing devices (KHD / IOND), fan control, backup measures, etc. The AWC part of it was implemented about 1 year into the tank startup. ATO was done on day 1. Calcium, Alkalinity, Mag dosing about 3 months in. If you haven't settled yet on which controller to get, consider this... The best thing you can do for yourself is have a clear goal and plan in-mind before jumping into any controller. You can do a whole lot with controllers and it's fantastic, but when you get it, if no clear plan has been defined ahead of time, it's going to get overwhelming quick! That applies to all controller brands! Read the documentation and product pages, get some kind of understanding of what YOU want out of a controller, consider what expansion options are doable (but don't focus too heavily on reading about it if it doesn't apply to what YOU want today) and define a clear goal for yourself BEFORE jumping in an getting one. Reading about them on forums is nice and all but take what you see there with a grain of salt. Also, ask yourself what is the single most important thing you look for in a controller? For me, it was reliability above all. I couldn't care less about pretty interfaces and neither do the fish. Correct me if I'm wrong, but fishes are more appreciative of equipment that is tried, true and tested to be reliable. :) My controller search ended in 2006 when I asked myself who had the longest track record for reliability. That's how I found GHL and their ProfiLux 2...years later I've gone and upgraded to the current ProfiLux 4 and Dosers and couldn't be happier. When I first setup the P2 controller, there were barely any how-to videos and guides out there. Nowadays, you have a lot to choose from. Setting up dosing schedules, timers, probe controls are done with drop-down boxes. Probe calibration is also straightforward since it can be done through the app. I never had to learn any level of coding even when I had the ProfiLux 2 back in 2006. :) You can't go wrong with either tank options! I'm excited for you. Take your time with the equipment part of it. If you want to get into a controller, just start with the basics (temp control and pH monitoring), all else can come later down the road. Best on your new tank journey!

@@garycumbo1092 I do add 'Fauna Marin Elementals Strontium' when my ICP test shows that the tank needs it. Otherwise, the bottle sits idly until I need it again. As for the caps, I just drilled a 1/4" hole in the original caps and dropped the tubing into the bottle. To prevent the tube from curling, I put a piece of rigid acrylic tube at the end of the tube so it is always straight.
