Tears of the Kingdom OST - Colgera Boss Theme | The COOLEST track in all of Zelda!

Ойындар

Reliving the moment I fought Colgera alongside Tulin is one of the coolest experiences I've had lately. This is probably the only track in ANY Zelda game to give me chills down my spine from pure awesomeness. Nintendo has done it again!

For real. This was the only time playing a video game where I've ever had that experience and it was incredible and something I will always remember and cherish. Having never beaten a LoZ game before until TotK, I can attest to the music still having this nostalgic and climactic feel even to newcomers to the franchise like me. It's genuinely magical.

I sadly did the wind temple after doing like 60 or 70 shrines, and had a ton of bomb flowers, so I cheesed this fight pretty bad on my first playthrough. But then in my second playthrough I went straight to the Wind Temple as soon as I could, and did it the "right" way. I was not disappointed. It's so cool that you can defeat this boss with no weapons whatsoever.

And WHEN IT JUST BLASTED DURING THIS FIGHT??? I seriously was feeling alot of things at once. I went into ultra instinct mode to fight the boss even better, supercharged happiness from the flood of nostalgia, tearing up as I began singing along to the tune in reverence...hf it was a magical moment. The entire Tulin Sage arc was spectacular in its musical compositions. The muted version of Rito Village, the sounds of the wind instruments simulating the sounds of buffeting gales as you ascend higher and higher to the Stormwind Ark, how pieces of Vah Medoh and Revali's theme could be heard while exploring to unlock more locks in the gate, and of course, this theme. It’s the only one that can be seen from basically anywhere on the map, almost every NPC mentions it the moment you leave the island, it’s really obvious they want it to be first. After hearing the musical suite for the dungeon though, I figured it out.

OOHG I just realized- Tulin's the flute. (duh, I mean- flutesong is the Rito village's main theme, so tracks that a Rito would be musically represented by a flute, but stay with me here) the third phase theme is definitely the most triumphant one- we start to hear less of that panicked tremolo rise-and-fall that sounds like some kind of calamitous storm, and start to hear the flute come through. It's still racing, though, quick paced and jumping all over the place- fast and small, desperately trying to keep up with everything, to prove itself. the first time the main Rito/Dragon Roost Isle theme crescendos upwards, it does so *without the flute*- almost stepping on its toes, the main rito theme interrupts the flute's melody before we dive back into that quick, racing flute theme- young Tulin is still operating separate from the village, attempting to do things on his own. the second time, though, something changes- the flute rises up WITH the rito theme, a part of the same melody, lifted aloft by the same voices that make up the village. Tulin has realized he cannot achieve his goals and requires those around him, and Link, to save his village. INCREDIBLE thematic storytelling and I adore that this is both an incredible piece of music and a reinforcement of the central themes of the story as well!

I feel like a younger developer insisted that the rito segment be chock full of homages to ww, knowing and remembering the original ww would be/turned 20 years old this year. We didn't get a port, but this was a sort of an apology and they paid respect to ww. Tulin is ww link for all intents and purposes. They share a couple similarities. They think they can take on the world by themselves. For ww link, it was saving his sister on his own. They both didn't believe in the stories everyone else heralded as truth. Tulin is basically what link probably wished he had been from the beginning: a trained warrior who was proud to come of age instead of dreading it.

I freaking love this track. It combines motifs from Molgera’s theme and the Rito/Dragon Roost theme of Wind Waker, strings going up and down to represent wind, wind instruments for melodies, descending trills for the snow/hail being whipped around by the blizzard generated by this creature, and to cap it off those haunting reversed zonai chants to tie it all back to the main quest. This track not only fits Colgera, Scourge of the Wind Temple perfectly, it can apply to literally nothing else. Beautifully done.

(Though I didn't know it was called that) The last time I heard this I was four years old, watching my older brother play Wind Waker. We both really like music and whenever he got to rito village or any other place with really cool music in a game he'd sit and wait for the entire track to play so we could listen it. God, this brought back memories. I am about to be 21 years old and he's married with his own son now. It's been a long time! Music tracks with multiple phases like this have become one of my favourite concepts ever since Breath of the Wild, it's a subtle yet powerful way to make the player feel waves of emotions as the track progresses. In the case of this song, with all the motifs coming in from other tracks like Dragonroost island, Rito Village etc. make it feel like as the battle's progressing you're being empowered by the franchise's past, thrusting you into a wave of nostalgia as you remember the first time you sounded your Ocarina, discovered a new island at sea or dove off a ledge to be swooped up by your bird friend. Zelda is truly the most inspired franchise in gaming history and I can't wait to see what adventures they take us on next.

This was easily my favorite boss fight in the game, both because of the music and the gameplay. I loved how it uses the glider mechanics in a creative way to create an entirely new form of combat, and I was enjoying diving through the weak spots so much that I didn't even notice that it's underside was exposed until I was almost done, and I just immediately decided to not bother even testing if it was vulnerable to arrows from below since I felt that the way I'd been doing it was more fun anyways. Since I went to the Rito first, I ended up being somewhat disappointed that none of the other main sage storyline bosses used mechanics in a creative way like this and were instead focused on just using a sages ability repeatedly to render the boss vulnerable. Moragia kinda did some unique stuff by having you fly around it with a zonai device, but it's not the main boss of that storyline, it's a super short fight, and it still ultimately boils down to "use a Sage's ability repeatedly". The only bosses I enjoyed anywhere near as much as Colgera were the first three Kohga fights. I probably would have enjoyed the last fight with him more if I hadn't already faced the Seized Construct, and would have enjoyed both more if Mineru didn't feel so clunky to control.

I could honestly write a whole mini-essay on why the Rito Phenomenon was my favorite of the 4. Spoilers ahead. For starters, it's perfectly geared to a first playthrough, kinda like Vah Medoh in Breath of the Wild. You're heavily pointed towards it, and the phenomenon being basically a constant ice storm threatening to starve the village of resources and food was actually kinda intense. The ice theme of the Rito Village gave me chills. The fact that only Link is even able to get there because of the fallen bridge and the large amount of flying with the paraglider makes you feel alone. I also love how the rito kids actually grew up and took on responsibilities from the adults to help out. They take over the previous shop owners and inn keepers until you beat Colgera. The actual adults had no choice but to leave to forage for food, and Tulin being grown up and skilled was really cool. Teba becoming the elder was also nice to see, with the previous elder retiring in the archer's area with a minigame. Looking for Tulin was pretty fun with the many little side quests to help out the adults, and having Tulin be the sage you first try is great, because it's very simple and effective. My absolute favorite part was just getting to the wind temple. The area music was really intense, and actually got even crazier the higher you went. It also took a long time, but also never felt dull or boring despite the intense journey. And finally dropping from above, so high up, into the wind temple, was nothing short of badass. The Wind Temple had great puzzles, the music referenced BotW's soundtrack with the Rito, and the Colgera fight is great because you don't even need weapons to beat him. You can just dive into the weak spots, and Tulin helps with this a lot. Being an archer is the only other way though, but that makes sense because Tulin is an archer. Yeah, out of the 4 phenomenon, Rito was done amazingly. It's a shame it was first because it gave me high expectations for the others. Gerudo was great with the apocalyptic vibes and war planning, and even getting to Gerudo Town was difficult but rewarding. I also loved the gibdos. The puzzle to get to the temple was a little boring and felt anti-climatic. The puzzles in the temple were probably the best though, and Queen Gibdo was a fun boss fight. Death Mountain was an easy trek to the city because the lava was now restricted to the depths and caves, but the phenomenon being that the very kind and hard working Gorons became lazy assholes was honestly kind of genius in a way. Yunobo basically becoming a drug lord was very unexpected, but the mini boss fight with him was great. Especially with the *Clearly not himself* tag, that was great. The journey to the peak of Death mountain was a little more boring this time, but the glider section was fun, and the Fire temple was pretty great too. The boss fight was alright. Zora... might be my least favorite sadly. I fucking love Zora's domain, and the phenomenon being polluted water was pretty cool, as well as the journey to the domain. Sidon is the best sage character wise, but his ability was a little boring. Yona being his fiancee and Dorephan being injured were pretty interesting events. Especially when I just stumbled into Dorephan's resting area, I wasn't even looking for him, but I found him and it was unexpectedly great. The puzzle to begin the journey to the water temple was actually really cool. Going with Sidon up with the low gravity was pretty fun. The Water temple had decent puzzles, but didn't really feel like a temple compared to the other 3. And the boss fight was the most boring. Oh, and I don't think this really counts, (MAJOR SPOILERS BTW), but the quest to find Mineru as the 5th sage was pretty cool. Especially the many puzzles to get her construct limbs to help build the construct, that was great.

I had to skip the last half of your mini essay because I haven't gotten there quite yet, but I TOTALLY agree with what I could read! Nintendo did the Rito some justice in this game, which is warranted because I felt a little let down with their quest in BOTW. Well said, my friend!

I agree. Really had a ton of expectations for the rest as well, since this was extremely fine. Most of them were good, second fav was the Lightning temple, but the Wind one, even the ascending to the Wind temple felt like part of the temple itself, since it's in the wind. Also, Tulin as a sage is broken. He saved me at least 20 times in all the game, just because of the headshots, and his ability is really intuitive. The wind temple was what I expected, slightly easy. The boss, however, was really easy, but fun. It would have been amazing that after ending it, it had a final stage, where he's heading down to the Rito village and you have to crush it before it arrives, or something more challenging, but not impossible. Anyways, it's quite an adventure. My least favorite was the water temple as well. The boss sucks, it's annoying. It would have been amazing if the entrance to the water temple was in the skies, and that you have to go downwards a special waterfall and that's the access to it. It would have been even better if it was like the one in twilight princess, where you can swim, and Sidon can protect you as well, but I know the game had limitations (and still became one of my favorite games of all times). But the music, omg, the music nailed it. Many people complain about lack of music, well, I complain about their lack of hearing 😛 horse ride's music is really subtle, you can hear it with headphones and be chilling, traveling through all of Hyrule with that subtle music is extremely relaxing. And well, this boss fight OST is just... wow. No words, really.

For me climbing up to wind temple was the best part, along with the boss being my favorite in the whole game. The setting was so good I had to take a couple screenshots. The wind temple puzzles were alright but not as good as some others. I’d say it’s my 2nd favorite really good. Water temple was really underwhelming, but Sidon is a fun character and the quest to get up to the water temple had some cool set pieces. The puzzles in the water temple felt slow because of the low gravity and weren’t challenging at all, and the boss was annoying but was somewhat redeemed by the low gravity. My favorite part was watching the boss shrivel up and explode when you beat it lol. Probably my least favorite but it’s still good. The whole fire temple quest was fantastic, all 3 bosses were fun but easy, and death mountain is just a fun place to mess around and use Yunobo. Best part was definitely the actual fire temple, being inside death mountain is awesome and having easily the most fun puzzles with the mine carts opening paths to higher or lower floors. Probably my favorite out of all of them and it helps that I love lava levels. Lightning temple quest was really cool, the gibdos along with the sandstorm made the whole place kinda eerie. The wave battles against the gibdos were pretty cool, but the mirror puzzle could have been better. Best part was the lightning temple itself, it was very fun to solve the puzzles and fighting the boss once outside and again at the end of the temple made it a lot cooler especially how hard the boss is. 4th favorite but I still really liked it. I ended up doing spirit temple before lightning temple by just flying into the center of the stormy cloud which actually made it so much cooler. Building the mech felt like a mega shrine puzzle with how much you had to use ultra hand which is great, and the boss was pretty funny and cool. I later cleared the clouds as intended and it was cool. It was my 3rd favorite. TLDR 1. Fire 2. Wind 3. Spirit 4. Lightning 5. Water

Two things: first of all, I just learned there's a way to fight Colgera without archery. I'm not kidding XD I feel a little stupid for never trying, but I mean, I had arrows, it worked well, it was fun, just kinda... didn't feel the need to try anything else? But at the same time, it's TOTK. Of course if I had tried something else, it would have worked :D And also, regarding the discussion of the 4 phenomena, something I wanna throw out there - I love how the 4 phenomena are: weather condition threatening the way of life/lives of the population, weather condition threatening the way of life/lives of the population, environmental pollution threatening the way of life/lives of the population, and ...crippling addiction XD one of these things is not like the others! ...not a problem at all, but it's just really funny to me how much of an "outlier" that one is imo XD

You beat him even faster if you stomp on him during the 1st round of spike launching. I suppose it's also possible to dip below him and shoot up at his belly for the 1st round, but I've never felt a need to cheese him THAT badly. It's really not hard to stomp him legit at least once, the arrow shooting is just to speed things up to knock him off faster when you're farming claws.
