@@kcanded they have kids, so she is probably checking in with him inbetween and take are of the kids, cooking, doing homework with them, cleaning, whatever. She has a lot of other task to do probably. Don't assume she's doing nothing just because you don't see her that much. Maybe even cleaning up all the mess outside, loading the truck with trash, taking care of the animals, whatever.

kcanded ....What? Doug demolishes and Ashley is there carting stuff out, all the time, she backs him up. If she was missing here for a while it most likely had to do with the kids, or some essential like cooking or hanging out washing.

@@kcanded That's terribly presumptuous. She does a lot of work as far as I've watched. They edit their videos also so how do we really see what she does? Also, we do not know what their personal setup is, maybe they have an agreement on how much each of them does. Ashley really is an awesome woman and I would go so far as to say I slightly envy this "power couple". Assumption is a horrible thing. 😕

I recommend placing cement block piers every 8' along the marriage line (center of house). Do I now or later when it droops and the roof leaks. Also, think about the 20 plus years of nastiness on kitchen walls. Do you really want to prep food next to that. You need sheetrock on the center wall for a fire break. Great job.

For Resale and Appraised Values...I would recommend running cinder block support columns down the center of the foundation of the home. As well, as completely finishing the home in drywall. You may also think about leaving a large window type opening in the wall between the living room and kitchen. I understand, it's a huge project that has to take place in a short amount of time due the weather conditions in Michigan, but it will be well worth the extra cost and effort in the end. Love the transformation and videos!

Doug, you are a demolition BEAST! You made QUICK work of that demo! I knew it wouldn't take you two long to get that part of the remodel done. Sorry about the lamp shades, Ashley. Even so, that old light fixture and remaining shades can be of use to somebody. I hope you plan to give the fridge and fixtures to Good Will or Salvation Army or a Habitat For Humanity Re-Store or a thrift shop in your area for someone else less fortunate. Not surprised to see the evidence of mice in your wall. A little surprised to see the carpenter ants. I was thinking the whole time, "get them out of there!" Then you found another nest! Whew! But it didn't faze you! I applaud your fortitude. Good work on the demo and clean-up. Looking forward to the remodel. (Are you really going to paper the kitchen walls in the same manner as you did the bedrooms and will do the living room? Don't the kitchen and bath need a little bit heartier wall coverings? I know you don't want paint and its fumes, but isn't there something else to use as wall covering? Will your paper treatment stand up to the moisture (and grease) of a kitchen, bath and laundry area like high gloss paint will?

Oh my goodness! I freaked out and started itching the second I saw those ants! Hate them! Had an infestation in a house I rented once, the main nest was under the floor in the middle of the house, floor had to be ripped up to get at it cos it was a brick built house with no exterior access, which is typical here in Scotland! At least the water damage is only round the one window, but you've pretty much uncovered all the horrors now and you know exactly what you're dealing with. Great demolition Doug!

Those Appliances could probably be some nice appliances for someone else you could set them at the road and someone would pick them up! IF you didn't want to get any money out of them.

Awesome work. I thought it was a smart move of tearing down all walls and ceilings to get all the rodents and nastiness out so they will not get into your new rooms for thus winter. I am amazed how efficient you both are!

The original owners must have put that refrigerator in before they built on the walls, then built the mobile home around it! Goodness! Can’t wait to see how y’all remodel the kitchen.

We don't care for open-concept. It takes away walls that are useful for furniture placement and other reasons. Also, it's a load-bearing wall.

Open shelving is really popular right now. So that would save also on buying new cupboards. Just an idea. Can't wait to see your ideas though.

Me too! Ewe I hope the ceiling isnt full of them. We had a termite guy come out and he had to dig underground and treat then in the house too. New windows going in and a whole new wall and base where they got into. Gutters getting installed to.
