Only recognize about five players on our team. One thing I noticed the entire game, even when they were losing or getting out, the Japanese were usually smiling. They were certainly enjoying themselves. Only saw one USA player smile. Even if stressed and seemingly unhappy, they do look fit and trim. Kudos to whoever the conditioning coach is this year. Maybe they can work on the muscles needed for smiling and having fun. 😊

Japan stays on top of the pitch, just makes contact and puts the ball in play. USA looked like they wanted to lift each pitch out of the park for a home run. Stay on top of the pitch and put the ball in play. Nice game and congratulations to Japan. A well deserved win.

I love this GAME!! No stupid drama and letting the umpires be UMPIRES!! No technology that disrupts the game and when a decision is made, that's final. I totally respect the Japan and USA teams. Japan is definitely having fun with their base path speed, defensive capabilities, offensive prowess and so many talented women from both teams. What an exciting game. These games should be main stream sports television. The game is worth it!!

This was the only team in the world that I feared for our women: The Japanese! Our pitchers were average, so their sticks were hot. IMO I think they hit better because: (1) The home run is not a real option TAUGHT in the Japanese mind. We hold the HR in too high esteem. (2) Size - and speed - matters. (a) Japanese have organically very few big girls (5'7 - 6') but many small but fast girls. (b) So the training focus is not slaps, but hits thru the gaps. Look at the numbers: How many people actually get on base with 'slaps'? Bunts? Rarely. Mostly the very fast. Average speed, no. (3) Because of (1) and (2) above, the Japanese are taught 'swing focus' - WHERE? will you hit the ball? In America we are taught to 'just hit it'. Then hope our better hitters actually hit it somewhere. (4) Their pro leagues are more developed than our college 'farm system' - SEC, ACC, Big 10; Big 12, etc.. The US pro leagues don't even compare... yet. For the future, I think our developing pro league will push/pull our farm system to be better. The concept of making a living in softball over 10 yrs, is still a relatively new thought process and is NOT viable here in the US... yet. Right now we win - when we win - it's on talent alone. We don't have that sense of perennial dominance that the Japanese have. Finally, when we make the natty champs OU our 'average' standard of the pro league, then we are on to something.

Those women from Japan are solid base runners, too! Really smart and aggressive base running and solid hitting, especially into the gaps like you mentioned won them the game. It's so interesting to watch these different approaches to the same game.

Where was this "explosive" "dynamite" offense that we heard so much about when the Gators needed it most?! Beth Mowins said "nobody wants a piece of this team" 🤦 What happened?! Plain and simple, Japan just had to much talent compared to the USA team even if the veterans played this Japan team. Japan out played in each phase of the game. Japan is taught to see the play (ball) before it happens that’s why they have low percentage errors. Always in the right place to make the play. Solid.

I 'very never seen so many infield errors from the U.S. The Sooners defense would have done much better. Japan does get alot of hits. I didn't see Jayda Coleman or Riley Boone out there either. They would have made a big difference. The Japanese hitters don't have alot of power hitters. They got several singles a few doubles that should have been prevented.

Japan has a good team, but so do we. I have never seen a worse umpired game, the strike zone was clearly different for Japan than the US, Canady got NO calls and the Japan pitcher got everything. Skylar Wallace was about to blow a fuse and Canady was clearly frustrated. The Japan players were leaving the bag in the middle of the windup on every base they stole, catchers had zero chance to do anything. This series was set up for Japan to win from the start. The US should never play in this exhibition again if it’s going to be like this.
