This looks a really nice lamp, I've always been a fan of Fenix head lamps and found them more reliable than any other brands

I live and fish on the West Coast Outer Hebrides, with the zero light pollution over here, huge waves, wind and naughty cliffs a decent head torch is absolutely imperative. I've skimped on them in the past opting for cheap options and got caught out getting back off a mark twice. I should of learnt from my first near miss. I'll never go cheap again, you get what you pay for and your head lamp in this video looks like something I'd invest in. I do have a cheaper version for a back up but rarely need to use it. Great video mate. A decent head torch and some studs in your boots is the way forward ❤

Thanks Dave. Couldn’t agree more, you might get lucky with a cheapy, but it only has to fail once and the consequences could be deadly. Here’s the headlamp in question- www.veals.co.uk/product/fenix-hp30r-v2-0-3000-lumens/?aff=27 Tight lines Jansen.

It's a brilliant headtorch when it works. unfortunately my rotary switch went gritty and the light failed and wouldn't turn on only after a couple of sessions of use, i was stood half a mile out to sea on a rock skeer when it completely shut off 😢 silly me left my spare cheap lamp in the car. It got sent back, fenix replaced it the one I have was working fine for a couple of sessions and the same is happening to this one, the switch went gritty, now the main flood high beam doesn't work, seems a fault after a bit of research, will have to send this one back also. Its a shame this fault otherwise it a good light.

I haven't bought one but I know someones rotary switch stopped working and he couldn't turn the torch on. Fenix did replace it. This does put me off buying it.

@@Skye-5039 yeah mate, same happened with my first one wouldn't switch on, the replacement I've got is doing the same, it's a shame because the brightness, runtimes and different modes are brilliant

I do question why some of these headlights are so expensive , I've had lamps that have cost under 30 quid last for years I just fail to see the benefit of spending 100''s ,

I’d say it’s the reliability that we’re paying for as much as performance. Some cheap lamps are really bright, but the build quality is awful and they only last a short time. Personally, I see a good headlamp as an investment in safety. The last thing you want is to be plunged in to darkness on a cliff top in the middle of nowhere. I’d rather pay the extra from a trusted brand and get something I know won’t let me down. I also carry a back up, just incase.

Fenix fail just same as cheepos switches and battery pack conections

@@VealsMailOrder2898 realistically anything can fail and if you're that worried about the safety side of things then you'd carry a spare ( or 2 )

@@Geneticlyinsane1 That’s true, I do carry a spare, but I like to know that my main unit is from a reputable brand and there’s minimal chance of it going wrong. Next time you’re fishing in the dark on the rocks in the middle of nowhere, turn your light off and imagine how you’d pack up and get back to safety in the dark, it’s pretty scary!
