Took me a long time to find a video showing people how to turn on the haunches correctly. Thank you for posting!

Thank u sm!! I have been riding for about 7 years and I am just now getting into real competitions instead of small ones that I did when I was little. I was taught english and I now do western and I am learning how to do reining and this helped a lot.

Well one time as I was waiting to do keyhole with my horse (for the first time but we placed third even though in the past he has never done contesting) I asked him to spin out of curiosity and he did it quickly and nicely which was a surprise. Then he backed off similar to a Reiner

I sure didn't mean to be critical of this mans horsemanship, he is an incredible horseman, I would just have preferred to have seen it on a somewhat greener horse. As for the rest of the moronic statements below, Good Lord!! Breathing too hard, too soft of ground, cinched too tight, not good horsemanship, better ways to do it???? I'd suggest ANY of you simply show YOUR link on how YOU do it so we can see better ways. This gentleman was simply shooing us "A" way to get started, not THE way.. Get humble...

Spinning.. why is this an important skill for a horse to know, and is it hard on the horses' legs , ligaments or tendons. Just curious. Thank you! Interesting video

Does no one realize that dribbling a soccer ball is a true statement?? Kicking the ball with your feet down the field is called dribbling. It's not just for basketball.

When i have a horse that isn’t confident on a cow i would start by pushing the cow away form you and just tracking it.. build your horses confidence... a lot of times really cowy horses are scared of cattle at first

This was 12 years ago. This method is obsolete. Yes it is odd that the horse is hyperventilating and tail swishing and yet seemingly calm in the face.Probably didn't like his job. No he isn't too big for the horse.

The horse seems like it is having trouble breathing??? Doesn't look sweaty.. Maybe girth too tight and he can't breath?

  • @bagelbytes6543

The video was kind of distracting. Its hard to pay attention to the guy when his horse's tail keeps flailing about. x.x And I agree with the green horse thing. Its nice to show a horse who makes mistakes, so that riders trying to start out dont get tiffed when it doesnt look like that

That horse looked like it needed to walked out or something, I was feeling anxious watching. My question, why constantly pester the horse when its standing there. Every time he moves his head you move your hand. I ride my horses with calm and direct, with out the nagging.

What is the purpose of the the spinning?? Why ? Just for show ? Do they get dizzy like Hunan's ??? The Horse looks tired, how many times did you make the horse go thru this before the video ? The horse is breathy heavy and sweating. You are to big for this horse..

Lady everything you said here is a lie do you ride horses or english bc you need to take lessons if you do he is reining! Not trail riding it’s a form of riding just like jumping or barrel racing yes he should have gave the horse a break I agree with that horses should never be worked or death

There are better ways to start a horse turning around and reaching with that inside leg than this. Not very good horsemanship in my opinion.
