Teaching positions (competition intro basics)

This is how a lot of people with sport dogs will teach positions. With the exception of: a lot of them will focus on keeping the front paws stationary, and only having the dog move their back end/paws. Front maintain contact.
I was not aware of the front paw thing when I taught him. Not super necessary, but I would have taught him different if I did it again. Yes, I could re-teach, but at the moment, I don’t really care since he won’t be competing for a while, if at all.
This is a Cato board. You can also use a position box, another elevated platform that has these general dimensions, and/or pvc pipe that also has these dimensions that the dog can stand inside. There are several other variations, these are some of the most common.
They provide tactile communication for the dog that acts as additional feedback while they get in repetitions of the positions.
Also note, you can use whatever language you want. His is French. Just be consistent with the meaning/follow through.

What language is it that you're using? Also once they have it down on the Cato board how do you transition that off to the ground?

Can you say these words clearly before the video starts so we know exactly what you're saying?
