bro this video has it all. ships that outclass you warping off, bait hull tank giving you false hope, "ive been warping around for 2 hours now...ill fight anything" desperation, gate guns murdering you so fast you dont even know whats going on. just the epitome of the eve experience all in one spot and its hilarious.

Fun to watch, best way to learn. I think you figured out that you can't kite when you have to be at 8000m scram range and also really there's no need to web with rockets / missiles because you don't have the tracking issues of guns. Your opponents with guns need to web YOU because you're mobile and want to kite them, so they want to make you sit still and take turret rounds to the face. They want to brawl you, you don't want to brawl them. I noticed you thought 10km is not too close. That's hella close. The Merlin is the opposite scenario of course. If you noticed as well most of your opponents had reppers, not many run PvP without those sadly, takes a lot to out damage an enemy and beat their reps when you don't have any reps on your ship, so you were at a big disadvantage before most fights started. This goes for Frigate vs Frigate / Destroyer combat at least. With the Brutix at the end you wanted to be right under his guns, tightest Orbit possible, like when we tell people to Orbit Dagan in the SoE arc at 500m so he can't hit them in his Gnosis. I think you did the opposite and went for a wider orbit. Also remember, an MWD blooms your Signature Radius by 5x and makes your little Frigate the size of a Cruiser. Not good to keep on during a fight unless it's to stay out of the range of their guns. Looking forward to watching you become a pro PvPer ;)

Yea I figured i had 'mis-fit' the kestrel with a scram. I honestly have never done the SoE arc, the 50 mission slog didnt sound appealing when I first started but I should check it out for standings and some basics. I guess if I kept a close orbit to the brutix I was afraid his drones would just kill me anyway. I guess I need to put reppers on all of my pvp ships now then lol

Living in a pod and collecting that insurance money! Despite getting killed (A LOT) I still had fun and will definitely be doing more of these. Made to show the realistic moment to moment struggles and thought process of someone really new to pvp. Hope this helped some of you hesitant to pvp to go give it a try! Fly Safe o7 or Recklessly...

9:05 That, my friend, is the Fed Navy Comet. Its bonus effectively gives it 4 guns, its tank is stronk (it's a faction frigate, they're all pretty beefy), and it has drones. It's basically an Incursus on 'roids. Edit: In FW space, always bring an AB. It's the de facto choice for prop mods in lowsec. The MWD is for kiting and nullsec, mostly.

Not certain he realized that he was shot by the Gate Sentries too.

That guy you shot off the gate was not in faction warfare, so the gate guns shot you. That's why you died so fast. If you pause at 8:54 you can see the sentry gun dmg.

Great video! Finally someone shows not only his glorious victories but actual expirience which come with many-many losses.

Actually, when I was trying to get into PVP I found for myself that T1 frigates are not newbie-friendly at all. Too fragile and too fast for an inexpirienced player. I've got way better expirience using T1 cruisers. Still affordable to lose, but easier to fit and beefy enough to live longer than seconds. Of course, it just may be me been oldfart slowpoke. :)

This... this "pvp" series made me sub... i wish to learn along with you (might not do pvp but i want to see it from a new point of view, maybe get encouragement :)

This video was amazing, and I'm so glad you went into it completely fresh. For the next one though you might allow yourself to learn a *bit* about FW. For example, you could be the one sitting in the plex at optimum range instead of the other way around!

Excellent vid. I'm very hesitant to pvp myself because of the high bar and knowledge everyone seems to have, but seeing you crash 10 ships with no qualms really gave me good vibes, might try it myself!

I am new to the game this video was very encouraging to me thanks for doing it.

My characters are in an industry heavy FW corp that has gone rather quiet lately. This is very helpful, I needed to see someone just go for it this way. You did everything I would have done, thank you, this hopefully will save me some ships, ISK and time. Yeah, I will definitely watch if you make a few of these.

Great vid. Enjoyed the thought process for fits and feedback in comments is great.

You don't need the map up, have both the D scan and the probe scanner windows open, D scan and click on the probe scanner window, this will give you a quick access to what is scanned down. People defensively use D scan set to 1 AU in FW space, so will be pre aligned when you warp in, which is why you got people warping out straight away. Also the gates can be taken at 100km away, so warping to a site at 100km still gives you access to take the gate. Hot keys are F1 and so forth for modules on the top row, this will give you the chance to lock up and be firing straight away. It was a lot of mouse movements which could have been used to getting to optimal range of the target... Control is the locking hotkey, always have this ready to lock... Q is the approach hot key and W is the default orbit hotkey (i have it set to the space bar) As for FW sites, Novice is frigate only (the thrasher was baiting you) Small is destroyer, Medium is cruiser, Large is Battlecruiser and Open is anything - not gated.

Im using my main for now since he has the best skills, but making an alt just for frigate - cruiser pvp wouldnt be a bad idea!

overheat scrams if you need the extra 20% of range, and you can preset your orbit to what you like so you can click 1 button (I absolutely love the learn pvp by death of frigates method)

For big ships that are alone like that, stay in a close orbit. Their guns can't track you, you'll be able to keep scram on him, and you might even take the web off to use on his drones if they start doing damage.

Merlin my favorite ship to catch the super fast faction frigs. Sit on the beacon with all your things overheated already. Especially web mwd and scram. Once your prey hits grid start locking. Soon as you get a positive locking sequence hit approach and activate mwd, scram, web in that order. Only take fights where you are already in the plex with a Merlin. The fight you had with hawk was very good except, obviously, t2 ship wasn’t the business...

"Hawk is just t2 Version of my ship,right??" ...JUST... Hahahahahahah you made my day ^^ but dont be worry i learned it on my own the Difference between t1 and t2 Items and ships is huge which can even be upgraded by your skills ^^ but it is very nice to know i was not the only one making that kind of mistakes XD

This reminds me of my own feeble attempts at solo FW PvP, I usually got wrecked completely. I got a little more success in small gang WH PvP and solo hunting explorers, but I'm definitely going to give lowsec brawling a try someday again. Man this game is unforgiving.

A little late to this stream you did but I thought it was well done! I'm a brand new player (1 month) and got a shitload out of it. I just ran it on my big screen while I researched stuff and mined in game.

Yes, once you aggress in Low sec. the gate guns will hammer you, you need to warp off and reproach and the gates will not shoot you then when you attack target again, it brakes their lock on you.

Love this, I am thinking about PVP in the format of FW, but still not sure Only have about 15 mil. ISK, think I would burn throug that very fast

yea you would burn through that quickly. Either join a corp that is willing pay/refund your ships or enjoy the game and build up your wallet first!

I haven't played this for a few years but do you not have to try to keep some kinda of optimal range with them? I think it is called traversal or something if I remember correctly.

Ok here are some problems with your fits: The Merlin fit: Most people that I fight use a medium ancillary shield booster instead of a second web, or an ancillary armor rep if they’re going dual webs. Unless you’re going full Ricardo fit on your Merlin (max damage minimum tank), which in that case you should be using 3 T2 gyrostabilisers, T2 guns and Void S Your Kestrel fit: Kestrels are designed for kiting, so use a warp disrupter instead of a scram, since they have more range. Since you’re kiting, the web will not really be as useful.

Also you should try going full Ricardo on a Hecate (T2 neutrons, Void S and full low rack of MFS IIs), then going into nullsec and finding fights There is this one YT channel called Xtra Squishy, he did use the Hecate max DPS on some occasions P. S. if you do go ahead with that, dont forget to insure your ship and put on Ricardo music at the back while melting tanks

@@aqua995 3 modules with the same bonus are usually recommended as the max, 4 and more are just wasted For kiting kessies fit 1-2 long point, an MWD and maybe a shield extender

I like to PvP in a Rifter, just cos it is pretty fast and tanky, while also being able to deal pretty good damage. I have drugs from an alliance mate, who converts my huffed gas into Exile which I use, and the extra Agency drugs that I collect from events which I use during PvP

@@eventon9372 lmao yeah, it just so happens that the alliance Im in had SRP, so losing it wasnt too bad Also I alr had some of the modules on hand, after farming Sansha 10/10s in my Typhoon Fleet Issue :p

Rockets are krap also you might want to use 1 or 2 hull repairer's and if you just want to wipe the floor with them use the Golem with a target breaker

i also do solo pvp in fw space as a pirat somtimes i even win 😆 i love the merlin i get 270 dps out of her a monster ship when you can catch your enemy 🤗

What type of setup/software did you use to record this? very nice quality.

I like this noob learning / teaching pvp. Pretty funny how you're just so lost and confused. Pvp is hard no matter how good you are

seeing your nontanked double web Merlin with 2 Gyrostabilizers and I am like wtf this thing will shred through small Frigates, but will die quite easily to kite ships and the like your Kestrel looks a bit like mine though, but like you said on a Kitefit with MWD you want a Disruptor and on a Scramkit you want AB Comet is kinda really good for what it is supposed to be and the hawk is yeah the Tech2 version of your ship, a fight vs the Manticore could have been cool and I think the Brutix wasn't Hulltanked, you just didn't do any dmg anymore because you were shooting from 26km away, I mean I almost have Missile Projection V but even with it, my Rockets wouldn't reach out further than 20km lol nice to see it anyways

If you got the scram, and he didn't web you, i think you could've won that last fight. You also weren't applying dps at all for the last 30s of that fight. You played that very well, as he couldn't hit you without his drones. If you killed his drones too, you would've won, but well done either way. O7 hindsight is 20/20, and you found yourself a few great fights.

Default hotkeys in eve be like ALT+F fucking 10. and if you rebind the key all hotkeys bug out, even the ones you haven’t touched

dont fight on the gate, the gate will shoot you XD, but watching you is fun. nice vid.

If you get a Ab instead of the MWD on that kastrel fit you might be able to fit 2 webs

Yeah, the dual web, armor plate Kestrel is an interesting fit.

Im new to the game but very confuse on shooting. I know how to activate the guns which is F1 but i dont know how to shoot.

Overheat guns at the start on small pvp like that... then stop, and keep a bit for end of fight.

Dont use MWD for close orbiting using scram dont dont ull get alot bigger in signature radius ull be easier to hit and apply damage to. AB is the best option. and orbit under his guns so close he cant track you. every gun has optimal range ull need to be at more than half its optimal range close to him in orbit

It wasn’t the Fed Navy comet that killed you. It was the Sentry guns. Have a read of the notifications during the battle.

if you want to learn to pvp why not join us on a bombers bar fleet ? if you can use a stealth bomber

Yeah, that was a weird one. It didn't look like it was a war target, but rather just some dude with negative sec status. But he shouldn't have been able to aggress on the target since his target initiation is set to yellow. Granted, my memory might be fuzzy, it's been a while since I've gone into depth on how all that stuff worked.

Drop a web for a MSE and either a gyro or DC for aux power core and you've got yourself the 'all-in-merlin' :)

Also hearing you repeatedly talk about overheating is crazy. You don't need to do any of that until you learn to fly and orbit your opponent correctly. Keep the speed up too. Overheating comes only if you are in a quick gank or it is going to be a close fight and you are not 100% sure you have the fight won. Or if you need it for reaching out with point or web.

Bro ngl...when i started PvP...i was in a destroyer and i lost to frigate....PvP isnt about being in a better ship....its about having better skills than the other player

Faction warfare 101 if target dont leave plex hes eather noob bored or have hard counter. Thats why nobody like and play faction warfare. Its not pvp its decided before the fight start
