Thank you I try to be the best patience kind and understanding for him so he doesn’t feel too overwhelmed or pressured.

Never stand begind the trailer. Easy way to get ran over if he forgets 20:40 to switch gears and back right into you. Also never go between the trailers also. Need to be safe. Also make him get out and look. He's driving so he needs to see what he's doing. It helps them see what they are trying to do why explaining it to them outside the truck

Yes sir I see your point I usually never walk behind trailer especially at trucks stop near fuel island etc. you have a great point I could get hit by him if he accelerated it and it was still in reverse. Thank you for the pointers will have him get out and look so he know what’s going on around him and how his trailer I moving etc

Good job trainer!!be calm .cool and collective .everyone learns at a different pace. If the trainee gets frustrated, stop and try again later. Safe travels, driver's 🙏

I’m an old trainer what I used to do is have the trainee get out and look so that way they see what I was trying to tell them. And it’s a good practice to get out and look!!! I used to tell them when in doubt just get out and look. Great video.

You need to get a set of 2 way radios from Walmart so you are always in contact with your student when you are out of the truck When I was training that is what I always used

Thank you 🙏 I can also use the phone to communicate via blue parrot headsets we both got the same ones 🤷‍♂️ but the radios don’t sound too bad

Guess I should have watched the whole video first. I’m on old man and when I trained, didn’t have phones. So, I guess that you can talk to him from anywhere. For a fresh trainee, he’s a good backer and has a great demeanor. I had one trainee that would throw things around the cab. I told him that he could get as angry as he wanted, as long as he kept it in the cab. Well at the last delivery, he threw my clipboard across the dock. I fired him and I drove home. Angel seems like a good guy.

Yes he’s doing very well backing I’m proud of him. I been teaching him pointers how to make the backing easier he’s been following my words and being pretty successful. Oh no lol that’s crazy if someone doing that kid of stuff throwing items in the truck I’ll tell him to get off the truck right then and there. I told him the rules about shoes showers eating inside the truck etc he’s been very respectful helping me clean up etc taking his shoes off in the front before heading to the back.

Just a hint from an old trainer. Stand from right under his mirror or at the front bumper. That way you can talk to him. You will have to walk to the passenger side from time to time. First thing I did was to have them drive around the yard in reverse until they got frustrated. That’s the best way to get them used to how to back.

I wish I had a trainer like him. Im currently on week 2 with my trainer. He is very passive aggressive and some what bi polar. My trainer is only training for the money.

Hey buddy, long time fan. Ur backing is exceptional. When I was training I used the words “steer to the problem” when teaching backing. Maybe that will be helpful for u too. Have u considered walking alongside driver during maneuver? Maybe headset if ur gonna watch behind clearances. New drivers r already overwhelmed and I always tried to simplify things for em. I’m currently a student at 160 driving academy. We practice on a dirt and gravel lot. When it rains we do backing skills in the mud just using cones. I tested for my CDL at my local DMV, I passed a pre trip inspection on the whole truck and trailer, passed my coupling, in cab, and brake tug test. Passed my straight back and offset back without a pull up. I’m just have trouble with my 90 degree back. The difficulty I’m having is testing on asphalt because I’m so use to gravel and mud. I’ve contacted Prime twice asking if I can get into the CDL class for better training. The only hold up is my 90. We don’t get much one on one with an instructor. I applied to Prime the other day and used your code on my application. They tell me to stick with the school I’m in for now. I’m so ready to start making money and getting good quality training. I wish I was training on a Prime lot with one on one instruction.

Wow that sounds pretty rough you should of just joined prime you would of done that one on one training then test out for your cdl and then do that 50k miles with trainer for the 2nd part then you would come back and do few more upgrades classes to get your own truck. By the time you’re finished you would be out there backing driving being safe etc and understanding the job 100% prime always sets you up to be comfortable driving on your own after extensive training.

@@RunningOTR I’ll just do what I can for now and maybe they’ll take me after this class. At our DMV we’re allowed two pull ups on the 90 and two get out a looks. Enjoy your videos. If I knew I could’ve went straight to Prime that’s what I’d done.

@@BoilerOperatorMechanic yes sir you would just have to do 50k safe miles with a trainer then you can get your own truck unless you come in with like 2 years recent verified experience you can hit the road solo

I think that is the hardest part of the job, backing up. Didn't they teach backing in the school? How do you like being a trainer? Safe travels for you two.

Good afternoon yes backing is definitely the hardest part that’s for sure, they teach a little but I’m the one that picked him up straight at the terminal with no experience and he was doing great with the pretrip and on the pad. It’s okay being a trainer sometimes it takes a lot of patience but I try my best too have patience explain everything the best way possible and make him learn it all. Thank you very much hope you’re doing well 😃
