I love the patience. You actually do know what you're taking about Parker. Loved it.

For a new person, you don't really need to add gas in first gear trying to move forward. You can just slowly let clutch out until it rolls then add gas.

seriously though, that's the best way to learn. once you understand the clutch completely, adding gas just speeds up your progress. I've taught multiple people on my mini and I always have them get comfortable moving with the clutch only before moving on to the gas.

I also think its important to remember, if the car shakes/you feel its going to stall, CLUTCH IN. The bite point is very important. The whole 'stalling' process is very discouraging and distracting, it makes you nervous and feel overwhelmed, if you get to a point where if you mess up - clutch in, you'll never stall and you'll actually be able to focus on getting better rather than stalling 24/7 and worrying about that. I had jerky starts for a good week when driving my manual the first time, I built confidence and experience, and since I had general knowledge of everything I got better just by driving.

Teaching siblings how to drive was a ton of fun. Except that first time my little brother dropped the clutch on the tractor. We got some farm land and there is nothing to hurt except dirt and my back... Teaching my sis was less exciting, she just took of and was arguably better/equal to most daily drivers in my town, with close to no practice before hand. We went for a 1 hour driven and I had her practicing down shift and up shift continuously until it was smooth. way to often i see people avoid practicing gear shifts until its absolutely needed. When people are practicing the lunch part, I will advise people to not give gas. Instead just put it in first and slowly release the clutch and hold when you notice the car moving and then make a U turn or something, no gas is needed for this practice. Muscle memory will kick inn surprisingly fast, just remember to not release the clutch all the way if you want to practice this way and don't do it for a extended amount of time.

When I teach someone how to drive a manual, I don't let them use any throttle until the clutch is all the way out to feel that bite point.

it's so funny seeing people learn manual in the UK like 90% of us only drive manual so its super strange to see people struggle :d

Just one thing - rev matching is a rather advanced technique. Mostly, learners should just slowly release the clutch and it'll do the "matching" for them. Rev matching, if you do it well enough, you don't even need the clutch for gear changes - while driving eg 2nd, pull it into neutral, rev match (needs to be very quick), then put it into 3rd - if your revs are matched well enough, then you won't need the clutch to pad it.

You step on the brakes and than on the clutch. There is enough time to push the clutch in much later when you brake at mid to high speeds.

First gear is definitely synchronized. The TR6060 got triple cone synchros on first and second, and double cone on the rest.

As much hate as he gets, this was a pretty solid teaching effort. I've tried to teach somebody and it's hard sometimes to figure out what they're doing wrong

If you wanna teach some1 how to drive manual car, with easymode on: disel truck with desent engine size, you dont need to rev mach and cluch is optinal when you know what to do...

I remember the first day I tried to shift, I stalled getting to first gear... A lot. however I was learning my moms diesel Volkswagen, which mean if you rev the car to 1.9k then dropped the clutch to will do squawk your tires. if you rev it to 1.6k it will stall. so you have to do this dance with your feet. note if you go above 2.4k rpms it will start to smell bad, really bad. notes I normally like the smell of exhaust. and it was my first day driving ever. not really that fun. I like it now though. So she did really good.
