Teaching Dog To Find Shed Antlers: 2019 Seminar

Ойын-сауық

Jeremy Moore, professional deer dog trainer and founder of DogBone presents this shed dog seminar at the 2019 Iowa Deer Classic. This seminar is loaded with extremely valuable information on training a shed hunting dog, as well as training any dog. One of the most valuable parts of these seminars is that they are not scripted, can go any way, and are full of mistakes. When Jeremys own dogs make mistakes, he teaches you how to salvage the situation and get something out of it. If you own a dog, you will face these same situations almost daily in your own training.

You do such a great job! I am getting my 3rd lab soon. I can't wait till he is old enough to start training. I will start walking squares with him and get him to follow, then heel, then sit and stay, and more.... and I will work the whistle and hand signals in all stepts... I am making my plans now and going over old things to remember what I did before. I want to take this dog so much farther then my last ones.. Your videos have shown me so much. And some many new thing I want to bring in my training. I just ordered my 211.5 whistle today, and yes when I get it I will be practicing with it even before I get my new dog sometime in late may ( I hope). Thank you so much for all you doto help us. Ps I also live in Wisconsin... its good to have you in our state.... Remember to take pictures of your dog from day one, they get big so fast....

Can you train a dog to train sheds and deer?

  • @DogBoneJeremyMoore

Yes you can, and many of the same training techniques and things you need cross. Our dogs do it all: waterfowl, upland, sheds, game recovery, and even therapy. I think they are capable of a lot more than we give them credit for!

Sad to see you forcing the antler back into the dog's mouth. No Wonder his body language is just screaming Insecure and Unsure. I would back his training and start teaching something as simple as "nosetarget", and slowly apply that to the retrieving. I guarantee that it will make this dog happier and a better shed dog. Also.... If I have to repeat a basic command for a dog: Here, here, here, here, here, here..... I would say that the dog isn't 100% on the basic commands, and would back the Training to focus on that, instead of nagging on the dog or having to shout or sound so angry all the time, when you as a trainer haven't done the Training right. The dog and it's "obedience" is just a product/result of my training. :-) Good Luck! :-)

I see you’ve spent a fair amount of time watching our channel recently and have made a few comments on multiple posts. Clearly, your training style and mine are different. I recommend you watch free information on other channels and make positive comments on them rather than spending your time here on ours. Best of luck to you.

@10n3wolf89 ; You train your way, he'll train his. This is not politics. Each has his own opinions based on what works for him/her according to his own experience, character, disposition and understanding. No room for condescending talk. Right or wrong, you need to watch another channel that suits your style of training and back them up. This guy is not telling lies or ripping anybody off.

Do you work for free? Is your pay check bribery? No...? Then don't worry so much about paying your dog with food.
