I currently work at a charter school that focuses learning around sports and activeness. The difference from simply going to public school growing up, to this change of really good interactive learning, I have witnessed these kids being so excited to learn, do math, read. It’s amazing what my experience of charter schools has been so far, I would definitely put my kid in one

This is a great point! Charter schools typically have a focus that public schools do not. Something like STEM, agriculture, languages... Things like that. I definitely have to speak about that in my 2023 update!

Then why do they get to pick students and can remove any student that public schools can’t? They don’t have to follow the same regs or curriculum .

Excellent video. I feel like starting up an affordable Charter school myself with a couple friends somehow. I love to teach. Where I live in CA, most young families are leaving the state because it is too expensive to live here. That has made it very difficult for me to find a job in any school over the past few years. I have been trying to get back into full-time teaching after raising a family. Do I cost too much so the employer prefers to hire the new teacher with less experience and no MS degree (unions require it)? Being a substitute teacher right now feels like I'm a babysitter not using my capable skills for lesson planning; however, I get to see what public, private and charter schools all look like. I now prefer the private and charter schools.

I know that there are lots of schools that will welcome your experience. Maybe speak with the principal at some of the schools you work at to see what you can do to get hired as a classroom teacher.

@@DarylWilliamsJrOfficial Thank you for the advice. Yes, I have become acquainted with the principals and they appreciate me subbing for them. Unfortunately, as the district does the hiring, new teachers in the district are not being hired. Teachers are being encouraged to retire. I heard about a few newer teachers even getting the "pink slip" because the district can't afford to keep them. I understand why young families in Orange County seek to live in other states if they have to live in a 1 bedroom apartment which costs over $1000 per month. The price of an average family home is almost $1,000,0000 in Orange County. I feel like starting a charter school which offers a class for the kids to learn about financing and money management at an early age. Maybe this will be a good class to prep them for the future.

@@kschroeder2473 I definitely agree that financial literacy should be a part of the curriculum in our schools. Life skills should be taught. Mindset should be developed. Character should be built. These are pillars of a good person. I see your vision and I stand behind you. Look into apply for a charter in your area. Secure funding. And let that dream fly.

I’m not looking for employment about charter schools but I do have a question about what sorta school is best for my child. My child is 8, we live in a small town in ND, and he HATES school. He isn’t hyper, he’s just bored. We’ve talked to the counselor many times over the three years and my son stated he’s bored with sitting all day long, they only get one or two recesses and the works easy. I’m curious on what school would I even be looking for, stem? Charter? Private? I know he wouldn’t benefit from home school considering I work. I’m just confused wether what to look for?

I would try really hard to look for a school that specializes in hands-on activities. Honestly, it would probably be found most easily in a charter school. A lot of charter schools try hard to be different from a traditional public school, so look for one that has that sort of specialty. Hope that helps!

Thank you for the information. Just wondering if you had any knowledge in Philadelphia PA. Unfortunately, I was injured and at the moment I am having trouble with finances. I followed the instructions for the enrollment process on time. She was given a number of 49 for leaving the school to finish her kindergarten year and a number of 15 for the beginning 1st grade school year. 2023-2024. If there’s any other information you could help me out with I will be most grateful. I am driving myself and insane. Trying to do what I can do for my child. Thanks for the video and hope to hear from you. Also, do you have to reapply every year? I got multiple answers on that one and it’s not very clear when I go on the website.

I love that you are being proactive for your child! Much respect. I am not familiar with PA specific schools, but as far as waitlists go, 49 at this point in the year means she most likely won't get in this year. 49 people would have to leave the school between now and May. 15 for next year is actually really good. Over the summer it is more likely that people leave, and that the people in front of her choose to go to a different school. You do not have to reapply every year. Once you are in you are good. So even start thinking about schools that have a high school. If she gets in for 1st grade, you won't have to deal with this again until college. Right now is a good time of the year to call the school and ask all the questions you have. They are getting ready for next years enrollment class. Call and ask if you can speak to the "registrar" or someone over enrollment. Good luck to you, man. You've got this.

OK. Sure they just want to keep the people who are willing to be parents and provide support for the kids and want to keep the negligent parents who don't listen or interact with their kids. If your implying they want to keep blacks and Hispanics out your wrong because if that's the case all private schools are doing that too....

I appreciate the insight! I'm saying that in my experience, some schools are trying to manipulate the system and target a specific candidate pool to meet their desired demographic. Research shows that students from different socioeconomic backgrounds have different struggles and challenges. By eliminating candidates from low income neighborhoods, there are certain behaviors, challenges, and deficiencies that they are trying to avoid bringing into the school. So no it's not all about race, it's more about specific challenges. And to your point, maybe the parents are one of them. I appreciate you!

@@DarylWilliamsJrOfficial Well stated! Points were made! My boys are starting charter school 10 mins away from we’re we live but in a decent area/neighborhood! First thing I looked at when searching was not only the distance the schools grade/academic levels but something that came up was the demographics! Waitlist/Lottery Selection No transportation, Expensive Uniforms, Mandatory Parents must volunteer Atleast 30 hours a year! also only 2-18% of children attended was low income And I fall in that category statistically because I’m currently not middle class but make decent money to provide the necessity’s and stability to my children! I’m eager for my kids to start this august they will both be entertaining kindergarten! I’ve done my research and know the good and bad of choosing charter school but I do believe compared to most public schools in my area the good outweighs the bad! It was a blessing to get them in a charter school together Because most have long waiting list and lottery selection which to me I feel helps them to weed out who gets in and who doesn’t so I’m grateful all I want is for my boys to have an equal opportunity and achieve academic success!

@@tonishawalters7355 So glad you are happy about the enrollment! Make sure that you are involved for your 30 hours. The more you are involved, the more you will be able to be aware of what's going on. And speak up if something is out of line. In my experience, charter's are built on pleasing their families because they don't want to drop in enrollment and potentially be shut down.
