One thing I've noticed about kittens of that age; they ALWAYS sound like you are being horrible to them! If there noises could be translated directly to English, it would probably say "oh, woe is me!"

Best meow ever!!!

getting them to urinate and poop before they are weaned is important. always stroke with a cotton piece or tissue the privates so they pee and poop. so important. you can also use a slurry of milk and food mix so they get enough liquid. many cats die from well meaning first time ppl that have no idea how to care for a baby kitten. glad to see there are videos to help out. i have two fosters at the moment. they are just 3 weeks. still no teeth but looking at things and playing a bit. i will be weaning later about two weeks, slowly but let them go at their own pace.

Mine look about the same now. I'm bottle feeding and introducing solids simultaneously. I had to push the dry food (it was wet) into their mouths and keep it from falling to keep them eating

@@S1baar probably a free kitten or a stray that they found. It's not that hard because people tend to not spay/neuter their cats for some reason. Or they let their cats wander outside unsupervised. That's how I got a free six week old kitten from someone that found them on the road.

I've seen this video like a dozen times, and I just realized something on this last time I watched it: there's a lady talking in it. Did anyone else notice that?

I had 3 I took in at 3 to 4 weeks or so, they rejected syringes adamantly and really only liked the bottle for quite some time, they would constantly spill anything in a bowl and didnt like hard/soft food for awhile. They were all about the nipple. Now theyre 3 months or so and 2 have adapted well, and one is constantly trying to suck on my toes. Bottle syndrome

Yes as a general rule if they're old enough to have teeth they're usually old enough to go potty by themselves. But if you aren't sure it never hurts to try to help a 4 week old potty for the first time just in case. 5 week olds for sure can.

Help! I picked up a baby yesterday from a lady who said they were ready and didn't realize the baby has to only be 4-5 weeks old max. I've tried wet kitten kibble, kitten wet food, and even chicken baby food and she will not eat! I'm syringe feeding her kmr but this baby needs to eat solids...quick. I'm just so stressed she will get sick if I don't get her eating. She's active, healthy, good weight. Just has no interest in solids. Tips?

Hi Samantha. Sometimes they will only eat straight off your`e finger when they are that small but they will start to eat as they get hungry. Some take to it easier than others. Good luck with her.

I know it's probably too late but you could make slurry for her. Its basically just kitten formula mixed with wet kitten food. They mostly really enjoy this. As time goes on you can add more and more wet cat food until they're perfectly comfortable eating just the wet kitten food. Then you can start adding some dry cat food into the wet to make sure they won't get diarrhea. Hope it helped, bye!

@@spicyboi4335 It can be hard sometimes for them to make the switch, from milk, to solids. If you make it fairly wet you have a better chance of them eating it, you could try syringe feeding it, so it gets the taste of it, then try it off your finger.

I have a litter of 6 week old kittens and one will eat from a bowl but the other two insist on the bottle (even though it is a mixture of formula and canned food and like a slurry). One still drinks the slurry while the other one drinks it but chews on the bottle. I know they're old enough but no matter what I do - nothing works. Any suggestions?

What to do if the kitten just wants the bottle, but ends up bitting it so hard that hurts the tongue? I am fostering one and had to took her to the vet cause she had a lot of blood in her tongue from bitting so hard. She only accepts food from a bottle or seringe... she doesnt seem to want to learn to eat on her own..

You can get a little kitchen scale and weigh him every day to make sure he is gaining weight. If he's eating and drinking well and doesn't have diarrhea then he should be alright. Some are just smaller and slower to learn then others. I like to leave dry food out all the time and canned food about 5 or 6 times a day until they get the hang of just eating dry. And you can syringe water in if you feel like he isn't drinking on his own. If he gets diarrhea they can go down hill fast so he will need some meds for that. You can ask a rescue group or vet for help if that happens. Good luck!

My kittens are 6 weeks and two days. I have been bottle feeding them since they were two weeks exactly. They refuse to eat solid food and insist on the bottle, going long after they are hungry without eating if I don’t give them a bottle. Luckily it is a blended slurry of milk and meat so they are staying healthy but I WANT THEM TO WEAN! I’ve tried all the tricks from Hannah Shaw (Kitten Lady) to frick and frack who have an opinion on the subject but nothing works 😩 it cost me a $3k all expense paid vaca (that I desperately need) because no one would foster them for a week if not weaned. I have no idea what it’s going to take.

so you would see that they hide somewhere to poop usually, or you look at signs that they are about to poop. then gently place them in the litter box. you could maybe give them a treat after, if that doesnt work just regularily put them in the litter box typically after a meal; and for covering their poop, thats what kittens like to do with litter but if a kitten doesnt do that then its finee its a personality i guess

@@sabrinemussa2342 I see thanks for the help I appreciate it, I rescued 3 1 month kittens and I already taught them to go to the litter box and I'm slowly learning to do things, it's just that one of them does cover their poop but the other 2 dig the sides of the box or outside of the litter box, I thought maybe it was due to the box size or litter so I changed it all, different litters box sizes and those 2 still do the same, also one of them always tries to pee on those tunnel toys that they can play with so I had to get rid of them, do you know what that means?

@@jun-e3855 kittens like to hide somewhere were they can pee / poop without anybody watching. If theres other kittens or people in the house watching the kitten pee it might make them embarrased and want to dash somewhere else where nobody is watching. But if thats not the reason. It might be that they cant get to the litter box in time so try to assist the kitten to the litter box and it takes time for kittens. Some kittens are quick with it but some arent. it could be a urination problem but its most likely not. But it should be easy going, it just takes time. And thank youu for rescuing kittens I also did the same :)

Idk where to get a syringe but I found a kitten in my engine yesterday and hes to small to eat yet idl what to do. Ima about to get the senior cat watered down pate and see if he can lap some up. He hasn't eaten since I found him almost 16 hours ago

My mom and I are currently taking care of a couple farm kittens whose momma disappeared when they were about 2 weeks old. We took care of bathroom needs for a week, bottle fed for two, and now thet are using the litter, playing with each other, and one of them is eating hard food softened with some water and canned food, but the other refuses to eat anything but kitten milk replacer. We've offered her wet food, wet food mixed with milk in a bottle, the same dry food/water/wet food mixture we give the other one, but no dice. I've even pushed a piece of food into her mouth and she chews and swallows but doesn't seem interested in it at all. We have to get these babies eating food in the next couple weeks because my mom has to go back to work at the school and I have to go back to college. Any ideas?

Kittens learn at their own pace but he should get the hang of it soon. "Kitten Lady" on KZread has a couple good videos on transitioning harder kittens.

My kitten is on the bottle. I'm trying to figure out how to ween her. I've had her since she was three weeks, she'll be five weeks tomorrow. She definitely bites down now that her little molars are growing in.

I'm about to start my three feral kittens. They have tiny teeth. I started on Fancy Feast chicken last night though a syringe. I'm going to let them have at it this afternoon. I will still give formula intermittently. The female has a little mouth ulcer. Should I just keep her on formula for now?
