Teac CD-RW890 CD Recorder

Ғылым және технология

Teac/Tascam is known for their high-quality recording equipment. The advent of the computer CD burner pretty much made these stereo component CD recorders irrelevant.

Nice find, I think Tascam still makes CD recorders, so not quite dead yet.

I have a couple of these, a mark I and a mark II, both bought faulty very cheaply (I also had a third with a completely shafted processor board that I could never fix and it went to ewaste). I'm not sure I agree about the build quality - in addition to the cheapest of the cheap caps (not just cheap, Ali Express level cheap), I've found that the hand soldering of the connectors can be really bad, the connectors were actually partially melted om one of them, and there is a lot of hot snot liberally splashed about in lieu of plastic parts that actually fit together properly. When they work they're great but I have not been impressed with the attention to detail. The "fault" on one of mine (an apparent infant mortality unit that went back in the box and not returned to the store) was the glue holding the SATA cable to the motherboard had seeped in between the plug and socket, slightly deforming the plug such that it didn't make contact - resulting in a mech error. A replacement SATA cable fixed that one. It gives you an idea of the slapdash standards at TEAC's Chinese contract manufacturer. It's a shame as the basic design is good. As you pointed out the big advantage of these units is they don't care about using the "correct" audio media despite the manual telling you to use audio CDRs - and that DVD-RW drive can be swapped with a PC one is it wears out. The DAC is a rather decent AKM, similar to the ones put in Onkyo AV receivers. It sounds pretty good.

Where have you been man? There are a few of us that support your channel wondering where you were. Hope it picks up for you. I have been selling a lot of tables lately in Calgary. Mainly just selling off the collection, but have flipped a few technics tables for something to do. Xraytony b says the china caps are good enough.

It's ridiculously slow here in Ontario. Guys can't give turntables away right now. People are hurting from inflation. Nobody wants to spend any money. Thanks for watching.

I just got one and maybe you can answer a question for me? When I record an album, after the first song is over, the CD recorder does not indicate "track 2" when the second song starts.I tried playing with the Auto/Manual button but nothing seems to get it to change track numbers unless I do it manually by hitting the record buttom when the next song starts, which is a DRAG!!!! What am I missing? very fustrated. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I think you have to hit the record button between songs to indicate a new track on manaul.

@@TurntableGuy i've got that figured out but, I thought you were able to have that done for you automatically? The owners manual is very confusing about that.

OK, I still haven't figured out how to get it to show the next track when the next cut in a album is playing. It just continues recording as "'track 1" until the album is done playing side 1. I have tried every combination in the Auto/ Manual modes, as well as the sync modes. The owners manual says it will change tracks when the next cut plays but it doesn't explain it very well. The only option is to add the track manually by hitting the record button at the end of each song.Which in turn starts the counter at zero. Has anybody figured out how to add the tracks automatically? I would be happy to hear from you. Thanks for reading.
