Pakeha in charge won't go there it'll open up disgusting pass events way before treaty was even thought of really shameful you wouldn't believe it happened using standover tactic not giving Moari's a choice but to fight for moari very existence so now today history repeating itself Moari's existence is threatened again by tis coalition government then shortly after the treaty was signed same events occurred Moari's never had a choice of anything but only abuse from european settlers running a muck and still are. What would you do if your very existence is on the edge of being totally lost now or eventually in near future????? Putting out there other countries indigenous people are having the same fight we not alone 😢

Maori seem very offended by David Seymours proposal, best to keep up the open dialouge and go forward together and all stakeholders be included in the decision-making. Maori world view and rights can exist together without such divisions

No separatism in New Zealand! Let us all be equal and also free to be our own unique selves. We either move forward together or we don’t move forward! This doesn’t stop Māori from being themselves.

  • @zrymill

We'll move forward anyway, but the Maori race separatists (nearly all of whom are mixed race and not Maori by blood) who want special rights will be left behind. People who are mixed race are claiming to be Maori and this is really silly. Mixed race is mixed race. Cultural identification is a separate issue and we all have different cultural influences on who we are. I had a girlfriend many years ago who was half Italian and half Croation and she was born in and grew up in Australia. She told me she was Italian and I said she wasn't. Once she visited Italy she realized she was not Italian and eventually realized she was actually Australian lol. It takes a while for some people to figure it out. Thank God New Zealand has David Seymour, Winston Peters and Shane Jones and many of their other party members who are thinking clearly on this matter.

Governments have always stolen land. The whole of the UK was stolen after the Normans invaded England and still to this day its almost impossible to find out who owns huge areas of land. No doubt the Pacifics stole the land from the people who lived in New Zealand before their arrival. No one talks about them and excavations are always blocked. Fact is the Maori Pacifics murdered all the people who were here before them and there would have been people before them as well and it goes back millions of years. There are no rightful owners, you have all be lied to. If you did not personally have land stolen from you then it was never yours it was your ancestors. It time people grew up over this subject. Treaties are for the time they were signed not for many generations after, things change. The Magna Carta is one of the most important documents in history for human rights, but it was changed many times after it was first written and then superseded by other documents. Even the US Constitution was changed. This is normal. The treaty is clear in its three statements and its time to move on. What counts now is who we choose to represent us by voting.

Righteous anger? Three-headed taniwha? Not one Te Pāti Māori MP, protestor or news commentator has said why all kiwis being equal under the law is wrong and why providing Government services based on need, not ethnicity is wrong. I sincerely have no idea why anyone could be upset by ACT's proposed ideas. The only reply has been "honour the treaty". Frankly, National, ACT and NZ First will honour the treaty. Claims will still be settled. Māori language and culture will still be supported (and funded in schools). What is the real issue here?

@@anthonysherry2628The minister mentioned that Maori bring in hundred billion NZ dollars. So the best option is to have 2 seperate tax systems . A tax system for Maori to tax their Iwi only to gather funds to support and run their own programs. Another tax system for non Maori to gather funds and support non Maori. This would bring in visibility and accountability to both Maori and non Maori.

the treaty has never been honored !!! nz first act and national prioritised trying to pretend as if there trying to honour the treaty when in actual fact they were trying to wipe it out and create a new treaty !!!! removing the use of te reo maori in public branded sectors,to removing a maori health authority to removing the maori language from educational systems before there proposed plans to tackle the cost of living crisis the housing crisis the mental health crisis, and yet within there first month in govt all they could do was talk about removing the maori input that includes trying to re write a treaty !!! remove a maori health authority !!! removal of the maori language the list goes on and it is all to do with removing the input maori have here.Get it right !!! the treaty will never be safe with any of those parties !!!! and not just maori will suffer everyone will because when you create a situation were you take from one to give to another the one you take from now has to take from someone else...so everyone should be aware that this stupid govt !!!!! are creating a country of division and war !!!!!

Only 100% Maori can claim to be Maori. Anyone mixed race is mixed race and its actually the future because it will be the majority in the future and this is the same all over the world. We went down a wrong track calling an African Black and European mix a black. I have the blood of many nationalities in my veins and no one is going to put me into a racial box. There is also a difference between a pure blood and cultural identification. Of course anyone can align with a particular culture over other cultures but just because you might align with Maori culture doesn't make you Maori if your mixed race. Maori have been playing the ownership game, saying that anyone with Maori blood is a Maori. Imagine if Europeans did that lol. I suppose a Chinese/Maori mix is also a Maori. These are political games with a few people at the top playing the race bating game to extract financial resources from the State. Unity is when everyone is working for better conditions for every New Zealander.

Humans have almost the lowest genetic diversity among all species on the planet. We are all human. Race and ethnicity are false, unscientific categories. All of us can trace our ancestors back to a small group of people living in Africa many thousands of years ago.
