You did it ... a few years back two of our TAs (Kiri & Devon) said after they had done the Tararua Range "They spat us out!!!" ... Like you, they found them tough, but so glad they 'got them done' They had to jandal back to our place because as they were coming nobo, the Tararua was not possible. They went back to do them. We saw them several days later. They walked back up our driveway, and when they saw us, they burst into tears saying "we're sooo glad to be home" Their nobo South Island did not prepare them for the rough and tough Tararua Range. But they did it! You both did it! You did them! WELL DONE! Escarpment. Colonial knob. Mt Kaukau ... all a breeze.

What an effort! Especially as your return to the trail after Christmas! Enjoy the chicken 😊

Well done that getting through all that, wowzers that was some crazy wet , windy weather through there. Another hotel bites the dust rippa runnies, Getting closer to that south island I Can't wait..

Well done guys. I enjoy your videos. Wife and I walked the TA South Island one and a half (COVID) times. You are bringing the memories back. I have found Windy to be the best free weather app, but even they get the forecast wrong at altitude. Travel well guys. Louie

Thanks. I think mountain ranges are always going to be hit and miss with weather forecasting. Just too many variables.

Congratulations 👏🎉 Goodbye Tararuas here we come Wellington. Done them years ago and have the same fond memories 😂

I really enjoy your videos and following along with the TA app as well. However one thing that is always true…The map is not the terrain.

That’s true. A topo map gives you an idea but you don’t really know until you are on the track

Congrats on completing Tararuas, Kurt the planning logistics does my head in, you’re both impressive, it must be beneficial having a buddy to share the accommodation expenses?

Yep. Here’s hoping the South Island needs less logistical planning! And it does help with accomodations when you can share the cost

Yeah, weather forecasters and economists seem to be able to make a living from being right about 50% of the time! Congratulations on safely negotiating and completing the Tararuas! I'm guessing you won't be in any hurry to come tramping with me now 🤣🤣

He broke it coming down from Mt. Crawford. Then he found a stick to use for a while, but he broke that too.
