I think you notice details in things that most of us don't normally pay attention to...like the rail track in the asphalt. I really like the way you point out details in your vids like the weight on the door at the school and all the gadgets on the train. So much fun to watch!

Adam, you visited one of the most important steam locomotives in the railfan community, the C&O 614. It ran in excursion service up till 1999. I rode behind it when it came to Detroit in 1981. We’re talking about a machine that weighs 479,400lbs that can develop 5000HP and is capable of speeds in excess of 100mph. It was one of the last steam locomotives built at the Lima Locomotive works in Ohio. Now for some schooling: You were sitting in the Engineers seat on the right side. On the left side is where the Fireman sits. The Conductor is the person in charge of the train. He rides in the Caboose or with the passengers if its a passenger train. The red lever you were throwing is the air brakes. We’re not sure what the blue lever is.

OMG at 5:37 that white metal box with the black and gray lines is a stamp pad.... my dad had one of those exact same stamp pads when I was little..... he used to take my finger prints with it, then press my fingers to a piece of paper and make funny little people and cartoons out of them for me.... if you only knew how something so insignificant to most can bring back a delightful memory for someone else. I had kept that old metal stamp pad box for years.... sadly I eventually lost it when I moved to Germany..... thanks for the memory, Adam.

The crazy old bicycle was made to ride on the rails..... they could stop at a spur line, and a person could ride down and get the mail.... very cool.... those are fairly rare to find.

And another awesome video!! We have a local group that restores old train engines and cars, and runs them up and down the tracks between our town and one over the hill, through a lovely canyon. During the holidays, they run a train covered in Christmas lights; it's quite the attraction and sells out quickly. We like to take it with a thermos of warm mulled wine. :-)

Excellent train museum. I worked for the C&NW railroad in Chicago back in the mid 70s. They definitely allowed smoking. The caboose stoves burned kerosene. The school lockers with the built - in locks and the science labs and theater were just like in schools I went to. It's like you went on an adventure just for me. Thanks!

Love the tour of the school. My last 3 years of my 40 year career in teaching, I was at an experimental school. We took over an abandoned school. Teachers and parents cleaned it up and made it inhabitable. It wasn't in quite the bad condition as this school, but I had to have over half and inch of crud removed from the gym bleachers and floor. We actually used paint scrapers to remove that layer. Whenever I was alone in the building, I felt like many spirits were watching me. I think they liked me, but every now and then, random books would fly off the shelves...seriously! And the cafeteria...Yikes! I was glad to finally get out of there!

Really liked this one! Clifton Forge is a really neat place, a town that the railroad pretty much built. The steam engine you went on is originally from the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad, and operated until the end of the 20th century pulling excursion trains. The green paint it wears now is from a recent failed attempt to bring the engine back to life by the Greenbrier hotel.

To go under a town with out it having paint and bad words all over it looked very refrashing. There had to have cameras under that bridge. When I see all those trees for miles, I look at it as a beautiful blanket with lumps. Chirp
