Her best scene was in a movie you didn’t even mention. She didn’t start in movies in the 40’s, she did movies in the 30’s, one of them Dead End as the mother of Humphrey Bogart. One of the best scenes in vintage movies.

She also said: "We pretty much went our own ways but we was still in the eyes of the law, man and wife." They spent most of their time apart. Incidentally she was 31 when she married Dr Krebs. He was 57. She lived another 24 years after he died. Her relationship with Spring Byington was widely known, according to Main’s biographer.
