Definitely, the mini led models can teach 800 to 1200 nits, if that's a factor to you.

Pozdrav Lovro - hvala na komentaru i pohvalama! Philipsov model nisam testirao, tako da bih prije preporučio navedeni TCL koji se pokazao jako dobar na testu. Philipsov model koliko vidim ima IPS ekran i Direct LED pozadinsko osvjetljenje što znači da ima bolji prikaz boja iz kuta, no isto tako niži kontrast pa filmovi/serije/igre ne izgledaju tako dobro. Dodatno, TV ima osvježavanje od 60 Hz tako da nema tako dobru oštrinu slike u pokretu kao ovaj TCL (ili npr. Samsung Q70A) što će se ne većem ekranu kao što je ovaj itekako vidjeti. Pogledaj kao alternativu i navedeni Samsung, a koji također podržava i AMD FreeSync ako ti tako nešto treba za gaming. www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/q70-q70a-qled

Hey Mark - the picture is definitely comparable and in some aspects (such as brightness stability in dark scenes which is important for movies) C725 is even better. It is not as bright as Q60A so it is not as good for watching in a bright environment. Also, Android TV interface is quite busy an may not be as pleasant to use as Tizen OS:

Hello Antonio! Bright room is quite hard to define since what is bright for you might be normal or too bright for me. Also, is the light coming on the sides or behind your seating position (or both)?

I've got an Xbox Series X and usually use a Chromecast with Google TV for streaming. I'm worried about the viewing angles and motion processing. Originally was considering Hisense U8G but changed my mind after reading about the motion issues. Any advice is helpful. Thanks.

Hey Joshua! Glad you like my video! Both of mentioned TVs have 60 Hz panels, so in motion there are fewer details visible, but on the other side, there are no motion issues. This I can confirm for LG UP75xx series since I've tested it and for TCL I confirm there are no motion issues on C728 - for C725 I cannot guarantee 100% since I haven't tested it and it uses older platform than C728. So in that aspect I would recommend LG. Related to viewing angles, LG is definitely a winner here thanks to IPS panel. IPS has more saturated colors under angle, but it's got lower contrast and under angle blacks will be even more elevated and less inky - that's why some describe this as "IPS glow". Will this be of issue depends on in which lighting environments are you mostly watching the content - during the day or evening with some light it will be OK, but for dark environment you will see this as a disadvantage. From what you've told me, I would go with LG's model, but I'd advise to look for Nanocell models from 2021 lineup which should be affordable now and they offer even better colors.

Pozdrav! Hvala na gledanju! Ako je samo za gledanje filmova i serija, odabrao bih noviji C635 zbog Google TV-a koji za sad u mojem testiranju radi stabilnije od Android TV-a koji je na C728K. Ako je TV i za sport onda je bolji C728K jer ima 120 Hz panel, premda mu portovi ne podržavaju 4K120 (za to je potrebno odabrati C728, bez K i imenu kako sam objasnio ovdje: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hJqM2M2wadfLn9I.html).

@@TVguyDarko pogledao sam i taj video, takođe poučno. Jasno mi je, sluzice i za igranje ali za proslu generaciju konzola tako da nece biti potrebe za hdmi 2.1, to jest 4k120hz. Oba modela se mogu dobiti po maltene istoj cijeni, znaci mozda ipak onda 55c728k. Hvala!

Follow up, have you noticed blooming? Started noticing it and now it's driving me nuts. All four corners show it (enhanced in darker situations)

I am undecided between this tcl in 75-inch version or xiaomi q1 75-inch. The only sure thing for now is that the xiaomi costs a little less. Advice?

Hey - viewing angles are limited just like on any other mainstream TV with such panel.

Is the set able to maintain VRR and Dolby Vision at the same time? Saw somewhere that this might not be the case. If not, is this a big issue?

No, DV + VRR is not supported. From my experience this is not an issue - I did not notice any tearing while gaming without it.

Hi darko I have the c825 model and have Nvidia shield plugged into the TV. The issue is I can't get the shield to to show the Dolby vision iq settings but if I plug a Chromecast with Google TV into the TV I get the settings. I have spoken to tcl and Nvidia support but they have both failed to give me any answers. I was wondering if you had a shield in your possession could you tell me if you have the same issue? Thanks

@@TVguyDarko that's right the Dolby vision IQ settings are not there. The normal tv are but not the Dolby vision IQ settings....but they are present when the Chromecast with Google tv is plugged in. I've gone through the things required to bring up those settings with TCL support and they still don't come up.

Hi Darko, great tv review !!! I had my doubts but after watching your review I bought 65C728. Great unit, there are some ARC issues with my HT-G700 but they are manageable. Hi, can you check if TV uses PWM or any other backlight strobbing method ? Many TV uses PWM and low frequency like 240Hz and I get headache with those TVs

I haven't noticed any flickering when black frame insertion is turned off.

Pozdrav, Darko, prvi put na tom kanalu-svaka cast!👍 Ne mogu se odlucit izmedzu 75c728 i hisense 65u8qf (U8gq je otpao iz izbora zvog isp panela…). Razlika u cijeni izmedzu tih dvih modela je 400€: u8qf 800€, tcl 75c728 je 1200€ i naravno, da bi platio manje, ali 75 incha zvuci jako dobro.😉 Sta bi priporucio? Hvala i sve dobro.

Pozdrav Mark! Pa ja bih radije uzeo TCL - em je veca dijagonala em su se bitno popravili s tim novim modelom koji koristi i novu platformu tako da sve radi brze. HDMI 2.1 i 120 Hz panel su veliki plusevi, posebno na 75".

Sve mi se sviđa na C728, ali imam jedno pitanje. Dune HD Solo4K spojen HDMI-jem na TV. U postavkama playera HD Audio Passthrough. Da li rade svi zvukovi. Inače imam TCL, 55ep680, na njemu samo običan dolby radi, DTS ne radi ni u jednoj varijanti. ne radi ni Dolby TrueHD. Imam reciver i tu nema problema ni sa jednim zvukom danas prisutnim.

Hey! I fully understand that you are stuck since both TVs are very similar and overall a great choice. Based on Rtings review of X85J (www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x85j) and my test of C728, I see Sony having advantage in better upscaling, support for G-Sync and correctly working eARC. TCL C728 supports HDR10+, has 2 remotes, has built-in microphone in the TV so you can control it without the remote just by saying "OK Google". Related to uniformity and DSE, this is always a bit of lottery and I see both TVs are direct LED so there is a chance of it being visible - especially on a big screen like that. So at the end it is up to you to decide with all the features and pros/cons. I have C728 in my living room for a few months now and it still performs well - at one point I did notice stuttering in videos, but after unplugging and plugging the TV to power, it continued to perform well. This is normal for Android TVs and I suppose on Sony you would notice the same.

Hello Darko, thanks for your amazing reviews, and this one is not an exception, I bought the 50C725 and really enjoyed the picture quality just there are two notes 1- the picture looks smoother than usual especially once you watch some old anime content, you will get a feeling that the tv accelerates the frame rate and that's not a good thing all the time, especially for some movies and legacy anime. 2- as you said the tv runs Android TV os instead of Google TV os, but if you use VPN on this TV for hours it will turn to Google TV I am living in Sweden and using a VPN for watching Kodi so after turning on the VPN for 4 hours and closing the Kodi app I saw messages like the starting process and then it turns to Google TV after turning off the VPN and rebooting the TV it turns back to Android TV os

Hello Mohamad! Thanks for the comment. Related to motion, it seems as if you have Judder reduction active that causes this - at least on my 55C728 when I would reduce it to 0 there was not acceleration at all and the playback was constant. Related to Google TV - thanks for this info, I will check it as well using VPN.

How do you use VPN on a new TV to access shows in different countries? About to either purchase a 50C725 or if I can find 55C728. The base on the 55P728 will fit my counter by I think the wide 2 legs on the 50P725 would be too wide

​@@bonchance7705 yes I am using a VPN to access the US Netflix, in addition to some private content on Kodi, about 50P725 model, I think it's better to stay looking in the C lineup, P series is less performance in all aspects for me, the wide legs stand it's not a deal-breaker cause I wall mounted it

Pozdrav Milco i hvala na pracenju i gledanju mojih recenzija! C725 je dobar TV, no zbog upotrebe starije platforme radije bih preporucio C728 seriju. Alternativno, provjereno dobre televizore ima Samsung, odnosno LG ako trazis bolji prikaz boja iz sireg kuta.

Hi Nenad - I haven't tested that Sony model and I don't see which panel is used on that model (no info on displayspecifications.com), so I would rather recommend TCL - model C728 as it is a newer platform than on C725.

Does it use PWM to adjust brightness?

He Darko. What would you suggest please TCL 50C725 or Sharp 50DN2EA + free soundbar ? Please can you answer ASAP?

Pozdrav Ivan - nisam testirao Sonyja no iz specifikacija vidim da mu glavna prednost pred ovim TCL-om je u posjedovanju lokalnog zatamnjenja za bolji kontrast. U praksi to svakako dobro dodje za gledanje filmova i HDR sadrzaja. Oba su 120 Hz VA paneli tako da su dobri za sport i ostale sadrzaje, a i Android TV slicno funkcionira. HDMI 2.1 ne znam je li profunkcionirao na Sonyju?

@@TVguyDarko koliko sam citao hdmi 2.1 je bitan za 4k 120fps igranje? Nisam neki gamer u zadnjih par godina, ali cini mi se da sam negde pročitao da to jos nije sredjeno. Dakle fald 32 zones ovaj sony je bolji od direct led tehnologije? U svakom slucaju ja sam stvarno prezadovoljan slikom, a za sony sam prevagnuo zbog tog fald-a i cuo sam da je procesor slike kod sonija jedan od boljih, a s obzirom da je cena bila skoro ista, otisao sam na sony :)

Hey Mark - in terms of brightness this is a typical mainstream TV - other models have similar brightness (or even lower if we consider Samsung's mainstream series below QLED line). For typical viewing scenarios it will be fine, but don't expect it to be really bright (e.g. if you put it on a balcony or where there is a lot of light) or to have great HDR effects - for that it is necessary to go with more expensive models. The only exception is Hisense U7QF which has local dimming and high brightness but with mainstream TV price tag. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hoaDqsVtkpuzYaw.html

Pozdrav Darko. Možeš li mi dati preporuku oko kupovine tv od 55 incha. Naime, dvoumim se između ovog tv-a, i PANASONIC TX-55HZ980E koji je oled. Prednost TCL je 120 hz i 2.1 hdmi. Napominjem,da će tv uglavnom koristiti za igranje igara na Ps4, povremeno gledanje filmova i većinom gledanje sporta. Cena Panasonica je 820 E, dok je cena TCL-a oko 700..Unapred hvala na odgovoru.

Pozdrav Jasmin! Da, prednost TCL-ovog modela je sto podržava 4K120, no ako ne planiras tako skoro nabavu PS5 ili slicne konzole koja to podržava, ja bih radije preporučio Panasonic OLED TV. Kvaliteta slike je na sasvim drugoj razini i za 4K60 igranje će biti i više nego odličan izbor. Kao alternativu bih preporučio LG C1 OLED TV koji bi mogao od veljače imati još nižu cijenu i onda imaš i 4K120 i vrhunsku sliku.

Poštovanje Darko, dosadašnji tv Panasonic TX-P42S20E planiram zamijeniti sa TCL 55C728, koje je tvoje mišljenje vezano uz kvalitetu slike u odnosu na Panasonic?

Pozdrav Dubravko! Vlasnicima plazmi obicno preporucim bilo koji OLED TV jer su navikli na sliku visokog kontrasta, sirokog kuta gledanja i dobre ostrine u pokretu. LED LCD TV-i to imaju, no tek u visokoj klasi. S obzirom da je najpovoljniji OLED - LG OLED55A13LA - oko 2000 kuna skuplji od ovog TCL-a koji za jedan LED LCD TV nudi doista mnogo, smatram da se isplati i da cete biti zadovoljni.

U tom slucaju bi i C725 bio OK, no oprezan sam ga preporuciti jer se ipak radi o staroj platformi s kojom sam uocio zastajkivanja u reprodukciji tijekom testa C815 modela. Mozda su to rijesili na ovom modelu, no ne mogu sa sigurnoscu potvrditi. Neki Samsung, npr AU8000/AU9000 ili Q60A bio sigurniji izbor - kod njih je reprodukcija svih materijala glatka.

Nema - FALD s mini ledicama tek na C825 modelu.

How to turn on HDR and Dolby Vision?

Hi! What's your opinion on which TV is better to get tcl55c728 or hisense 55E76GQ?

Haven't tested that Hisense TV, but it is difficult for it to be better than this TCL which really works great for many months in my living room.

Hi Arqam - Samsung Q70A is a great alternative to this one, especially if you prefer simpler interface and FreeSync and G-SYNC is something you will need. Picture quality is on the same level on both, though as I see Samsung has higher contrast and goes brighter (though it doesn't have local dimming). TCL is better if you need Android TV interface with a wide variety of apps, it comes with standard and smart remote and has a built in microphone in the TV itself so you can control it just by saying OK Google. Personally, as I prefer simpler interface and more consistent performance, I would pick Q70A.

Bok Darko, dvoumim se između ovog TCL i Hisense A8G OLED. Oled je entry level s 60Hz panelom pa ne znam kako će to funkcionirati. Model je još novi pa nema puno recenzija. Treba mi tv za gledanje filmova i serija u tamnom prostoru. Da li misliš da bi ovaj TCL dugoročno bio dobra kupnja? Pozdrav i Sretan Božić 🎄

Pozdrav Josip - 60 Hz OLED ima vrlo brz odziv tako da zamucenja nisu znacajna i sigurno nece smetati prilikom gledanja filmova i biti ce prihvatljiva u igrama. Nisam testirao Hisenseov OLED, a koliko vidim po cijeni je tu negdje s LG A1 ili cak LG C1 OLED TV-om koji je provjeren i doista izvrstan. Tako da ako budget dozvoljava, neki od LG OLED TV-a je moja preporuka - idealno C1. Dugorocno je to najbolja investicija.

@@TVguyDarko odlučio sam da ću ići na LG oled C1, čekam malo da uleti kakva akcija. Ja sam u DE tako da su cijene malo drugačije. Hisense je sada 750€, LG C1 je 1200€ a TCL je 650€. Gledam dijagonale od 55".Mislim da TCL nudi najviše za cijenu uloženo dobiveno od LCD-a. U svakom slučaju hvala na odgovoru i savjetu. Pozdrav

4:25 On TCL's website it is stated that this C728 has a Full Array Local Dimming, C725 doesn't have. . . Edit: so yeah they have statement for 75C728 but no information on 55" variant so it's dumb that they have no local dimming to play with. . .

Thanks for the review. Which one would you suggest between these two? TCL 65c728 or Sony 65xh9096 or 9077 (X900H) Mostly for watching movies & Netflix/Amazon Prime content, TV series. Occasionaly for sports & KZread content. Rarely for gaming on PS4, I don't think getting a PS5 in the next 5 years as well. TCL is about 1.150.-$ Sony is about 1.550.-$ I am considering only these two because I'd like to get an Android TV, there are similar priced TVs of LG/Samsung but I don't want to buy an Android Box seperately.

Hey, thanks for watching and for your comment! Sony has the advantage in better contrast/higher peak brightness so it is better for movies and HDR content in general. Other specifications are quite similar. For the difference in 400 USD perhaps it is better to get TCL + soundbar or something in the audio department to have both good audio along with good picture.

@@TVguyDarko Thank you for your reply. Yeah, 400.-$ difference is quite much for similar TVs like these, but Sony is Sony... Anyways... I already have a Logitech Z506 5.1 set that I can connect to the TV, hopefully it will turn out to be a good match with the TV. Thank you for your help.

How to activate 4k 120hz gaming on the series x? I've got the HDMI cable from the series x and put it into HDMI port 2 but it shows only 4k 60hz while gaming 🤔🤔

@@TVguyDarko now it's working with 4k and 120hz but for example while playing fifa around the ball it's like ghosting (i hope you understand what I mean) at other games or while watching tv i don't have it, only at fifa. Any idea what that could be? Or how to get rid of it? :)

Hi Darko, great review. I recently bought the UK model c729k which I assume if the same model as yours? Without the 4k 120hz support? The picture is great and happy so far. Only problem I've encountered is when watching Dolby vision stuff (mainly Disney plus) there seems to be minor stuttering/hiccups? It's not the blur from 24fps which you'd expect but it seems like the TV struggles to process it 100%. Happens every couple of minutes where it seems like the frames drop to like 15fps for a second or two then goes. I've watched football on sky/by, movies on sky and blu ray. All play fine. Just dolby vision causes problems. Have you encountered this problem? I have tried every motion setting and have decided to leave all motion settings off. My internet connection is also not the problem.. cheers

I know lots of people in the USA had problems with their tcl but being a 120hz TV I didn't think it would struggle as I assumed a lot of those aforementioned TVs were 50/60hz and used the pulldown method. Is it potentially the chip on the TV not being able to handle the Dolby vision?

Compared to the Samsung AU9000, which one do you think I should go for?

If it is the same screen size better get C728 - 4K120 support and overall better and more stable image.

does this have FALD and if it has? how many dimming zones in this one? and the other 65 and 75 inch models?

For FALD you need C825 Mini LED series.

Hey Lars - I would rather get TCL - it worked great also for 4K 120 so if you plan to connect next-gen console or a powerful PC this is definitely a plus.

So what about watching movies/netflix and sports between these two TVs, which one is better? Throughout the day we have a high contrast of lighting in the room, durig daytime we like to keep the room light and during the night we keep the light down. Which one is better in this surrounding?

Thanks for this review. I am deciding to go with LG 75NANO903NA or TCL 75C728, what would you recommend? The LG is about 200€ more.

Hysense je malo stariji model iz 2019 ali isto ima 120hz panel ali po jeftinijoj ceni ovde u Srbiji. Konkretno me interesuje gledanje filmova i sportova, gaming mi je iskljucivo na kompu. Cena TCL je oko 98.000din dok je Hysense oko 78.000 din . Ili svakako ako imas ti neku trecu preporuku rado bih poslusao tvoj savet. Hvala unapred

Pozdrav Danijel - hvala na gledanju i komentaru. Nisam testirao navedeni Hisense, tako da bih radije predložio ovaj TCL-ov model. Zadnjih mjeseci ga koristim u dnevnoj sobi i mogu reci da radi stabilno, kvaliteta slike je bez nekih kriticnih zamjerki, oštrina u pokretu solidna. Android TV ima svojih mušica, no generalno radi stabilno i brzo. Hisense noviji modeli bi trebali biti bolji, što je još jedan argument da bolje uzeti ovaj TCL.

Pozdrav Darko trebao bi pomoč, neznam se odlučiti ovaj ili samsung 65Q80AAT u ceni nema neke razlike a koristijo bi za sve po malo. Hvala 🙂

Pozdrav Dejan - Android platforma je svakako bliža za "sve po malo", no Samsung u cjelini je konzistentniji i uz lokalno zatamnjenje nudi bolji HDR. Tako da za gledanje filmova preko danas popularnih servisa i brzo i stabilno sučelje bih prije predložio 65Q80AAT.

Hello Darko, Perfect test, thanks for the effort! Which should I buy do you think? Philips 58PUS8506 for 730 eur or this TCL 55c728 for around 700 eur? I prefer android, I like features of the Philips (ambilight, 3years warranty, 2 for the tcl, better quality remote) but I presume the panel quality is better in the TCL for a long term. We mostly use it for Netflix, no gaming. Pvr recording is needed. 55c725 is 600eur. We have soundbar, so sound quality is not show stopper. Samsung 55Q80a is 850eur. Too much for me. Please tell me your suggestion, I'm courius to know what's your opinion. Thanks! And keep up the good quality videos! Take care.

I also wana know the difference between C728 vs C729k. I think it's a just production year difference but it can be more then that. I am staying it because C720 and C725 have only production year difference which i confirmed from TCL customer service.

Check of TCL's official website what they say about max. HDMI input resolution - I think it will be the same as between C728 and C728k - the latter supports max 2160p60.

TCL site says that c728 is full array local dimming.. displayspecification (site) also. You said its micro dimmimg,which is similar but different.

Hey Raed - it does not have local dimming, but good thing is that there is also no global (frame dimming) unless you enable dynamic options in the menu, so dark scenes look stable and with decent contrast.

TCL 55C728 or Samsung 55AU9000? Which one is better overall? Picture quality is more important for me.

C728 has Quantum dots and 120 Hz panel so it is comparable to Samsung 55Q70A. TCL 55C728 is great and I can confirm its good performance.

There is no local dimming ??! The TCL Site mentions there is micro dimming 1296 Zones.

Correct, no local dimming for sure on this unit. It is wrongly stated also on displayspecifications.com

Some clouding was visible, but nothing that would be distracting during the actual content watching.

Pozdrav - kako nema lokalnog zatamnjenja, tako i nema probijanja osvjetljenja oko njih kad se pojave. Sam panel ima varijacije u intenzitetu pozadinskog osvjetljenja, baš kao i ostali LCD televizori na tržištu.

Pozdrav Darko mozete li mi reci razliku izmedju TCL C728 i TCL C727 modela.Imam dobru pomudu za ovaj model TCL 65 C727(cijena 870 evra).Sto se tice videa stvarno je super.Pozzz.

Hey Andre - both are great 120 Hz TVs with HDMI. Samsung has FreeSync and better integration with Apple devices if that's what you need. Also the menus and apps are different and C728 offers a bigger number of them. In terms of picture quality both perform really well, so at the end it is up to you to select which one is better for you. I went to test tcl and i weren't impressed. Netflix is slow. And wireless connection of tcl is very bad. Did the sametest with the q70a and had no problem. I have a bar, i don't use tv sound so DTS isn't a problem for me. At least never felt like it was...

Bought a Q70A came with defect. Returned it to the store, they didn't have stock of Q70A, ended up spending 100€ more and got a Sony X92J by far a best TV and im super happy with it...

Hey, it will be great for gaming, sharp picture in motion and 4K120. VRR I haven't tried yet, but I will when it becomes available on PS5.

Last month I got a 75C728 from the factory in mainland China (maybe defective, but I didn't see anything wrong with it and the price is 800 Euros). The ARC problem is also encountered, in addition, is the brightness of the excitation only less than 400nit, and there is no local dimming.

C825 is excellent from what I know, even better if you can get C835 from the current lineup.

I was about to spend $1400 for a Philips 65inch, till i saw this. What she said is true, most of us in Singapore have never heard of TCL. But i looked around and its 65inch TCL is priced around at just $900.

Imam isti model i problem kad prebacim sa PS5 na Tv ili bilo šta drugo, slika trza jako i negledljiva je. Moram ugasiti pa upaliti tv da bi bilo u redu. Znate zašto se to dešava? Zahvalan na pomoći

Mislim da je to Androida i kako je implementiran. Pokrenite System Optimize pa vidite hoce li to popraviti situaciju (ikona gore desno u glavnom izborniku).

Picture quality is similar, the difference is in the operating system. Also, C715 is 2020 model - if you want Android TV better get this years C725 or even better C728.
