When it was written it was considered by the foremost violinists of the day impossible to play the violin part. Now this guy is playing the violin part AND orchestral accompaniment on one instrument ... impeccably! That's just insane!

@@jaysparc It is an accordion, Bayan is just a regional name. And yes, the accordion is unfortunately belittled for being a popular instrument and not having the same range of expression than, for example, a piano. The organ suffered the same fate, on top of not being exactly portable.

I have taken time over the last thirty years discovering great talents playing on the family of free reed instruments in all it's guises from folk to classical. Whoever takes the time to listen to this guy, you are seeing the best that is available at the moment in this world. Whether or not your preferences are for classical music, Aleksandr's control of the instrument is impeccable. Never mind the speed, it is the phrasing and control of the bellows. If you are new to the accordion, it is important to realize that it's keyboards, left and right, are completely DEAD without the continual compression of air through the reeds(rather like Dizzy Gillespie with his blown up cheeks playing the trumpet). His fingers are merely 'skating over' the keyboards bringing into action the reeds. Watch as the bellows change direction. There is no 'break' in the musical line. It is wonderful to watch and listen to. Yet the accordion or the Bayan accordion in this case still struggles for acceptance. Sad for those who never discover it in their lives.Paul

especially the slow lyric passages. yes the pyrotechnics are fun, but the slow passages take a lot of control and concentration as well. I have listened to this performance many times.

Alexandr hrustevich is a great artist... I play accordion so wonderfully, it's amazing. My dream is to hear him in a concert.

Alexandr once wrote a letter on a computer. After an hour it was the most beautiful poetry on about 4000 pages. Without a single spelling mistake.

I'm just absolutely blown away by the musicianship and technique. Bravo!
