@ThaSchwab I agree that the tempi are a bit faster then what we are used to hearing in this symphony. Nevertheless, this is a great orchestra.

@ThaSchwab A little fast, but it seems to suit the fourth movement at certain spots.

robert m: I fully understand your frustration at having to listen to this work backwards. I did not use auto-sequence, as I did not wish to listen to it in that manner, and you should not have to either. What I did was to keep the channel page handy to swing back to whenever a segment ended and simply clicked on the next segment to continue, to enable me to listen to the 2work as it was meant to be heard. Once in a while, you will get an auto-continuation in the right hand column while you are watching, whereby you will be enabled to let continue on its own, but that will not usually occur. I agree that this work and others presented by this group should be reposted for properly continuous listening, but look at when these were posted. The means of hearing works like these continuously has vastly improved since the time this first came out. I have mixed feelings about the tempos used in places by this conductor - and I've seen his work elsewhere in other videos made by this group. He did manage to make the tempos work after a fashion, especially in the last movement where there is a degree of consistency almost from beginning to end. But for me, such tempos in general I find too hectic and frenetic in their bearing, making for excessive histrionics and melodramatics, which frankly I do not care for in any music, and especially not in Tchaikovsky, whose music I feel can be shaped far more empathically. Such are my feelings at any rate; the group of young musicians do a fantastic job regardless of he individual who happens to be wielding the baton.

Ulyses Ascanio and and the Youthful Venezuelans play fast and loose! I had a visceral experience with all the speed and pregnant retards during all 7 parts of this video.(Please put on one full video!). To play on auto sequence, one has to start with the forth movement Finale and work backward to the first movement, not my preferred way to listen. This backward sequencing seems to be in effect for all the symphonies of this wonderful orchestra. These delightful entries deserve better!

To robert m: I fully understand your frustration at having to listen to this work backwards. But I did not use auto sequence, seeing the way it had been set up, as I do not wish to hear the work other than how it should be heard, and you should not have to either. I simply kept the channel page handy to switch back to at the end of each fragment and clicked on the proper one on this channel page. I agree that the breaks are in bad places and the work and others by this orchestra should be reposted to eliminate this problem, but look at when this was posted. The means to post longer videos on KZread has vastly improved since that time. I have mixed feelings about the frenetically fast tempos that the conductor uses and is given to, and I've observed his work on other videos by this group. He manages to make some of these tempos work, notably in the last movement where the tempo is at least consistent almost from beginning to end, but in general I do not prefer such an approach, as it makes the music sound to hectic and frenetic, adding a degree of hysteria and melodrama, which is not how I prefer to hear this music. The youngsters do a really outstanding job in their playing, regardless of the individual on the podium who happens to be wielding the baton.

Those poor kids. The speed of that tempo is borderline child abuse. They can hang tho…
