    I love this guy. So sincere and honest with his answers, and as he answered them he seemed to genuinely care as he answered. And no BS about analog, digital, sample rates. He just wants to make music! Brilliant.

    I really like Tchads comment on sansamp as a tool for phase ‘manipulation’ A lot of people steer clear of them because of the phase shift. But if one is cognescent of the phase shift (and uses along side phase alignment and pass filters) then one can use the phase shift to purposefully ‘sculpt’ the sound. Great stuff.

    I also LOVE that bit of honesty and humility when he says ‘my ears aren’t that good…if you pull up one 16bit 44.1 file and one 96k…I couldn’t tell the difference. I think if we all had the humility that Tchad does, we would recognise that our ears are deeply fallible. Very inspiration. We overthink things too much when we should focus on being creative.

    Tchad is helping these guys by refusing to name certain things; he's trying to get people to find their own processes instead of thinking you can "check a box" to make a good recording by using X plugin or technique, etc.

    Hey horowizard, looks like your question @13:18 is not as you explained it to me on my channel comments (which I since removed due to your stupidity). Tchad isn't siding with your POV, he's refusing to comment or pass judgment on a video he hasn't seen. My video is on exploring the Tchad mixing [not recording] technique, so you got that wrong. Secondly, telling me that Tchad thought I was 'nuts', I see now he was just reacting to your poorly framed question. The people who know me and who actually watch my channel understand how much I love Tchad. If I've misrepresented his approach (to the best of my knowledge of it) in my video "How To Tchad Blake Your Drums", then may he correct me here.

    The funny thing is that the guy's question was so charged, you can hear it in his voice as he's asking the "question", that he wasn't even listening to the answer and completely confused the issue! The following question is what he was trying to ask and was perfectly answered by Tchad. I checked your video, and it matches up with what Tchad does in his Mix With The Masters video (inside the mix Shadow Puppets). Keep up the good work. Cheers

    Tchad Blake let me know quite clearly you were nuts off camera, after the presentation was finished and we spoke privately. Do you really think you know everything based on a two minute sound bite from a public Q & A? And, what's to say? If he's going to correct you, then direct him to your original video, but I seriously doubt it's even worth his time.

    @Diego Oliveira Bullshit, Diego. You really think I didn't know? Either you're putting me on or you are oblivious to sarcasm. How clueless is that? I'd been using the Tech 21 SansAmp for 5 years before I even heard of Tchad Blake. And that was the real deal, not the plug-in.

    Not only was that a shit question, you also came off as obsequious. I think Soundbooth Tutorials was just making a video to demonstrate a Tchad Blake style sound, which he did a fine job with. You're treating that video as if he said "TCHAD BLAKE IS A FRAUD SEE LOOK HOW EASY IT IS TO GET HIS SOUND." I don't understand why you'd have such a problem with a video that's just trying to educate and provide people with a new trick

    Why are we still talking about consoles vs. in the box and analog vs. digital? Digital has murdered analog, everybody's mostly in the box, bla bla bla, why does it remain a topic???

  • @danialdevostmusic

    @danialdevostmusic

    6 жыл бұрын

    Luuk Meijwaard notice it's not a topic amongst the pros? It's always brought up by the up and comers and I think it's because they are trying to blame their lack of gear for being he reason their work doesn't sound as good, as opposed to their lack of ability and experience.

  • @rt-uh6mt

    @rt-uh6mt

    Everyone loves to talk about gear, big deal. Analog does sound better but digital is really good as well and it's so much easier. I personally recommend hybrid but digital is like 90% of what I do. However I would highly recommend mastering at a studio that runs it through (at least some) analog gear.

    And six years later, we’re still talking about it. Why? Because digital has not “destroyed“ analog. In terms of convenience and economics? Sure . But not overall depth of sound and quality. We’re still watching side-by-side comparisons of plug-ins vs what they were modeled from - and they always fall short.

    I feel you, and I actually had to google "in the box+mixing" while listening to Blake and Schelp talking. Though I think the expression is a good example of how language is used to express thought and feelings. It could be denounced as pointless jargon, but it's also a pretty stupid way, but still, a way for these guys to identify eachother. Their space, their bubble, their history. And even though we could try to filter out the jargon, these expressions (social markers in a broader sense) probably will find their way out - one way or the other. When any expression like this is used, We who don't understand it could feel left outside. It's not a pleasant feeling. But there's at least a couple of options for coping with that. 1) you could complain about it, or confront him why he don't say 'computer'??? 2) you could start using the expression yourself. And that may or may not result in the acceptance, because you're maybe not old enough and you'd appear as some light weight leaf in the wind (i.e. non genuine). 3a) understand (ask or study) but don't use the expression. 3b) kind of understand and write a social science essay as a response to a 3 year old youtube comment. etc) etc) probably many more... haha
