The TCG Istanbul, launched Saturday as the first frigate and largest warship domestically designed and manufactured by Turkey, is an excellent example of the country's progress in the defense and naval industries. Just look at Switzerland in WW2 for example, if they didn't had a strong army they probably couldn't have stayed neutral and "peaceful". A country obviously has to be able to protect itself against enemies even if it isn't actively fighting. In the case of Turkey it's even more relevant because of it's "dangerous" location. This is the first self production frigate. We will produce 4 more frigates, 2 detroyers and 1 aircraft carrier upto 2030. This year, Anadolu will be in the sea. It is redesigning to have abilty for air craft take off... this will be the first all over the world. Because, we will see UAVs on it...
