    How do you use TBS Crossfire telemetry? What was the best thing you learned about TBS Crossfire telemetry from this video? What other questions do you have?🤔 Let me know!👍😉UPDATE: Since this video was posted, RFMD is now available in OSD, LQ in OSD is now measured as a value between 0 and 100 along with the RFMD value of 0, 1, or 2 preceding it.

    Oh, man! Another masterclass. I've been using only RSSI, because that's what I was using when running 2.4, before Crossfire. Also, I'm lazy and the environment where I fly is mostly free of interference (it's usually a farm). But there's a lot to digest in your video and yes, I have already failsafed not so far while using 900mHz. It was my fault, as I had a bad antenna connection at the time. Now RQLY is very useful and now I'll be working to enable LQ in my OSD. Later I'll be creating special functions to play audible warnings from my radio in OpenTx. Thanks a lot, TMac.

    So there's something I guess I don't understand. Because of the asymmetrical Tx power of the Crossfire TX Micro (up to 1w) and the nano Rx (I believe only 10mw) it seems to me that you will lose telemetry long before your LQ falls to RFMD 1 and 70% LQ and in fact I've been trying to test this and that's what I find. I was simply trying to see of my audible warnings in my radio were working but those logical switches never get tripped before I lose telemetry. I guess using the telemetry in your OpenTX radio isn't very useful for that reason.

    Thank you TMac. This video is very helpful. When you are explaining the special functions, you say that it plays 1 time, but NOT at startup. I have several annoyances that trigger every start up. Can you explain how to do that? (maybe you already have, in another video that I haven't found yet 😃 ) Also, the "sound to noise" telemetry seems like it would be useful to trigger an alarm, except that I don't have a clue as to how I would set that up. Any suggestions are appreciated 😃 Thanks TMac!

  • @TMacFPV

    @TMacFPV

    3 жыл бұрын

    The "not at startup" feature is enabled by using the exclamation point in front of 1X (see the first Special Function line at time mark 15:29 of video. Signal to Noise is taken into consideration within LQ telemetry value. However, RSNR (uplink signal-to-noise ratio) and TSNR (downlink signal-to-noise ratio) as well as all other Crossfire telemetry values available are found on page 45 of Crossfire User Manual you can access here www.team-blacksheep.com/tbs-crossfire-manual.pdf . To use any of these telemetry values you set them up the same way as I demonstrate doing so ion this video. You just need to determine what a "normal" value is (by looking at your telemetry screen) and what is not an acceptable value for you. Then, set up ax based on your "unacceptable value" for that telemetry

    Hi eveyone, I'm new to the RC Hobby domain. Need help in understanding which module actually transmits telemetry data back to the flight control screen on the RadioMaster TX16S ? If the TBS receiver transmits back to the flight control unit (i.e. CrossFire TX at the back of the RadioMaster) then why is it called a Receiver only ? shouldn't it be called a transceiver ? And if the CrossFire TX module also receives the signal from the TBS receiver on the quad then that should also be called a transceiver ? I'm an Electronics Engineer but cannot get my head around the size of the receiver. It is too small to transmit anything back over a long range. Plus the TBS Receiver on the Quad does not have any heatsink. How is it able to transmit over such a long range. What am I missing here ? please help !

    Hi TMac. Txs for your vid. It has impressive knowledge and pleasent editing. I have an crossfire, nano diversity, and i lose telemetry as soon as i pass 400 meters. I do long range and its necessary to record gps log. The log stucks at the last value and only changes when I return close to 400 meters. How can i keep telemetry or record the log without it? Should i change to "forced telemetry"?

    thanks for all the effort you put into this video Sir, which is not only very informative but also fun to watch. Being new to both Crossfire and to Open TX, I learned a lot and subscribed. Since you asked what other questions we have, here‘s one for you: I am running an iFlight Alpha A85 HD with a crossfire nano RX linked to a Radiomaster TX16S. I keep getting „Telemetry Lost“ warnings every now and then when I am about a half kilometer out, however I never lost control of my quad. Telemetry usually recovers within a few seconds or so after I have gained some altitude or turned the quad. I assume this might be because of the relatively small Crossfire antenna on the quad which was developed by iFlight specifically to fit this little 85mm whoop. The A85 was of course never designed to be a long range quad, but I was wondering if I should be worried to lose Telemetry every now and then. Is it really necessary to bring the quad back when it happens? Would be great to read about your thoughts - thanks in advance. Ruedi from Germany. 😃👍

  • @TMacFPV

    @TMacFPV

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey Ruedi! Great to hear from you! I'm guessing your "telemetry lost" warnings are coming when one end of your antenna is pointing directly at you. That would be what's called a "null" in the radiation pattern (near zero radiation emitted from end of antenna). The radiation pattern propogates outward from the sides of the antenna (sort of like a doughnut pattern). So, when you turn your quad, the antenna turns and you regain telemetry. If you're able to do so, I'd have LQ (link quality) displayed on my goggles OSD. That way, you can keep track of your control signal strength. Another thing you could do is use a Video aerial systems (VAS) XFire Pro antenna which is designed to be "cross-polarized." This design essentially eliminates/reduces nulls. You can check out the XFire Pro antenna here www.flyingtech.co.uk/electronics/vas-868mhz-xfire-pro-antenna-ufl-tbs-crossfire . Also, make sure to download the TBS Crossfire User Manual here www.team-blacksheep.com/tbs-crossfire-manual.pdf

    Try this, go to Model setup, External RF, Receiver Number. Make sure its set to 0 for each model quad using Crossfire. If that doensn't work, have you bound the receivers to the TBS module? I dot not own a Tango 2 transmitter, however it uses OpenTX firmware so it should be the same. Sounds like you're not getting all of your telemetry values. Try going to the telemetry page in your transmitter while quad is powered on and bound to the Tango 2 then selecting Discover new Sensors on the telemetry page. While you're on the Telemetry Page, make sure you've disabled (untick the box) "Ignore Instances" in the Telemetry Page of your Tango 2. Also, with the recent versions (2.3.10 & above?) of OpenTX, you no longer need to use an Aux channel to receive LQ. So, if you're running a recent version of OpenTX and do have that setup in your Crossfire receiver setup, just get rid of that. Finally, refer to Crossfire manual pages 51-53 here www.team-blacksheep.com/tbs-crossfire-manual.pdf

    Hey Jose! Most likely nothing to do with OpenTX 2.3.9. Did you go through Crossfire Module menu and bind receiver in your transmitter? Have you "Discovered new sensors" in your telemetry page of model setup? After pressing Sys button, under "Tools" menu, Crossfire Configure, XF nano RX, Mode = 8 or 12 channels (I use 12), you shouldn't have any of the channels setup fro RSSI. Having such long voice warnings is counterproductive. The warning starts as your LQ drops momentarily. The LQ recovers, but your warning is still being played by the radio. Then the LQ drops again, which triggers the warning again. A simple "Signal Low" and "Signal Critical" audio warning is far more practical and useful. Repeating the warning multiple times is, in my opinion, not useful... Last thing I need when my LQ is low, is my radio repeatedly yelling at me! Also, your sound effects are far too loud in the video, you might want to consider lowering the audio level of the SFX track by half. In fact, the entire audio track is well above normal audio limits and it's quite uncomfortable to listen to. Good information though!
