I love how Taylor isn't just singing the words like most singers, most singers are just singing the words but Taylor feels them

Let's face it. Taylor doesn't have that great vocals like Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, etc. but her ability to put emotions when she sings, her ability to make you feel that emotions to every song, and her ability to write songs that could touch you whenever you hear it, that makes her one of the best singers here in this music industry.

This is possibly Taylor's best song, beautifully written, emotionally heartbreaking and incredibly portrayed. Every time I listen to this song I always try and picture the scenario she sings about. She is a masterful lyricist that is absolutely deserving of the success she has.

+missliketoeat honestly, youre right. a lot of people laugh about it because theyre either depressing or because theyre always about a past relationship or just because theyre typically love songs, but they ARE relatable which is why shes still in the music business. I at least enjoy (some of her older ones at least) songs because I can relate to them and it makes me feel better about certain situations. it can be nice as cheesy as some of the songs are.

To all the people saying that they miss the "old Taylor", Honestly, I'm sick of people saying they miss the "old Taylor". Have they yet to realise that both, the Taylor Swift that created Tim McGraw, and the Taylor Swift that created Shake it Off are the exact same person . The people saying that they miss the "old Taylor" obviously aren't real friends. Some people are acting like just because she released a pop album doesn't mean she can't still sing country. Have you heard Clean, This Love, You're in Love from 1989? Those songs are so heartfelt and deep, even though they are underrated. When she performed at the Grammy Museum, she did several stripped down performances, and honestly, they were beautiful. They sounded like country music, and the lyrics told stories. I do miss the older albums like RED and Speak Now, but her new style is great and amazing, and if shes happy than so am I. You may think shes changed, but really her songs still tell stories, if you listen hard enough, and her music still sounds the same if you strip it down enough. #IStandWithTaylorSwift

Yes. Also, I found something in Pinterest that said something like: "Regular people miss the "old Taylor, but real Swifties know she never left." Basically what I'm trying to say is that Taylor used the line "Sorry the old Taylor can't come to the phone right now. Why? Oh because she's dead" as a fun thing to do and just like saying that this time she won't be the sweet and nice girl that everyone took advantage of because of her beautiful kindness. Now she pulled out her claws. However, this doesn't mean she changed, she just grew up and learned from her mistakes. She also changed her style of music, I don't understand why people are so dramatic over that. It is the lyrics that matter because of its meaning, not the genre of music. Also, this is just my opinion, that an artist changes their music style is amazing, I think it is a really difficult thing to do when you are not used to do it. However, Taylor keeps changing it and amazing everyone. I am just saying that there is no new Taylor nor old Taylor, her kindness is still there, and I am sure that, that is not going to change. Just don't make such a sad scene about all of this, she is a human being. She is just learning from mistakes and becoming stronger, she is not changing for bad. All of us, Swifties love her, as well as she loves us and shows it everyday and vise versa. Just think about that :) #IStandWithTaylorSwift.

This reminds me of the time my boyfriend at the time and I planned for months and months to move to a town we always wanted to go to. I got my shtuff together and moved down, he said he would move down later. I waited. I watched an episode of Dr. Phil where this guy cheated on his wife 30+ times, and I texted my boyfriend saying how crazy that was. I got a call back... he cheated on me with my best friend. Now I was in a different town with nobody I knew around, and the one person that said he'd always be there for me, wasn't.

This song reminds me so much of my 8th grade prom! I had a date but he was doing something else with his friends instead of showing up! I love how Taylor writes her songs so we can relate to them in at least some way. It wasn't on my birthday, it wasn't around Christmas. But we both had a broken heart. I really hope Taylor continues to write songs like that. After what has happened between her and Kanye West I'm positive that in her next record she will have a song about that. We could relate to it by bullying or someone hurting pur feelings in another way! I love Taylor's music and always will! 💚

this song makes me think back to a high school dance when i asked this guy i liked all that time to go with me, since i was to shy to ask him in public school to one i thought "ok heres my shot" so i did and he immediately said "let me know closer to time" which i took as a yes. but then i was waiting and waiting for the dance day, i was so happy. but as soon as it got to the day before i messaged to remind him and waited and no reply, so i went by myself.. still nothing, and got home again checked and still NOTHING! I guess it was cause he was moving the day after he was packing

Im so mad that people would just assume her music is shit when they’ve only heard her commercial ones. Sad that they wont be able to hear masterpieces like this one.

Okay! Everyone is sharing their sad stories, I might as well. I never believed in love, or faith or hope, or any of that, and I was living in an abusive home. I only stayed there to take care of my little sister, who was also in that home, and needed me to stay. Junior year I met this amazing guy who just transferred, and he basically taught me to hope. He was the type of person to believe 'love conquers all' and I believed that love was weak against forces like greed, self love and reality. He found out I was living in a bad home, and convinced me to run away with him, he had some savings and we could bring my little sister, he was graduating that year and I would have to drop out, but I would be safe. He and I agreed to meet at a bus stop the day after graduation, I waited for hours but he didn't show. I called him later, and he told me in tears that he didn't think our love was strong enough to conquer my lack of faith or my issues, and he didn't want to be a homeless bum. In the end, it turned out I was the only one with faith, and he was the one with too little belief to take the leap. I actually ended up believing our love could conquer all. Life's pretty funny that way. Even time I hear this song, I think about the moment when I got up and walked away from the bus station, the moment I knew h had left me. But this story does have a happy ending, I got an apartment for my sister and I, finished high school, took a bus and now I manage a Bed and Breakfast, after climbing my way up from being a maid there. He hurt me, but he did me a big favor, I believe in love now.

This exacly same thing happened to me on my last birthday. I had invited people to be there at 7pm, he said he would be there at 8 and it was 12am but he still wans't there. We had even sang happy birthday but he wasn't there yet. But when he appered I threw a piece of cake thought my third floor window in his car beacuse he deserved it. It was the last time I saw us as a couple, or friends, or anything. It was very disrespectful and very sad for me. :/

It's probably painful for her to perform, she said in her album track run through that not only was this was painful for her to write it was painful for her friends and family to listen to. Remembering the first time hearing this a while back and literally cried especially when she said: - And they’re all standing around me singing “Happy Birthday to you” , But there’s one thing missing - And that was the moment I knew - What do you say when tears are streaming down your face in front of everyone you know? And What do you do when the one who means the most is the one who didn’t show? None of her lines or sad songs get me to cry anymore. She literally was one of my idols in Middle School and since then well only her style has been the only thing that I would like to have something similar. She’s just too great a singer for words really.

This song reminds me of my crush before my birthday a year or two ago, I asked him if I had a birthday party, would he go to it, he said yes. Then I realized it was the day of my birthday party/sleepover, I forgot to tell him my address so he can come over. When I had my party later that day, that was the moment I knew I screwed up. So, it was only my best friend, me, and my family at my party. If I would have gave him my address sooner, I would have had a better party.
