OK, here's my take - this is song is actually about Taylor's life more than any other song here, the invisible string is like "fate" tying two people together. It's a love song about her 4 year relationship with british actor Joe Alwyn who she's been writing about in her last 3 albums. Every lyric on this song has been drawn directly or inspired by her life experience.

The string represents fate, and the idea of soulmates being tied together forever. She's pondering on the idea of her and her current boyfriend being tied together by fate and that string continued to pull her "out of all the wrong arms" and to Joe.

Blue and Purple Pink Skies symbolize the LOVER ERA

Grea reaction!! This song is about her bf of almost 4 yrs, Joe Alwyn. The line, "getting lunch down by the Lakes"... The Lakes is actually her last song on this album to be released exclusively when the CD comes out. It's a place in the UK (where Joe is from) and that's where they spent their 3rd yr anniversary. The line "gave me the blues and then purple pink sky", purple pink sky is the color of her last album, "Lover". Lover is all about Joe Alwyn that's why she says that time gave her the blues and then purple pink sky. Also, Joe used to work at a yogurt shop when he was 16 where their uniform is color teal (he mentioned it in an interview early this year). Another indication that this is about Joe Alwyn is the line, "string that pulled me out of all the wrong arms right into that dive bar". In her song "Delicate" (which is widely rumored to be about Joe Alwyn also) from her Reputation album, she mentioned there that that's where she and Joe first connected. Invisible String is an ode to the chinese legend of "red thread of destiny" where it says that we are all connected to one person through a red thread (aka your soulmate). Also the maturity in this song when she said "now I send their babies presents"! Joe Jonas, her ex boyfriend, and his wife Sophie Turner are pregnant. Taylor and Sophie are friends and Joe and Taylor are now friends too! 😊

I think there's a big reference you guys are missing. In Dancing With Our Hands Tied, a song on her album reputation about her boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, she sings "deep blue, but you painted me golden". She mentions blue and gold tons on reputation and Lover when referring to their relationship because she was in a really sad (blue) place in her life and he made her world golden. She said in 2012 she thinks real love shines golden like starlight and she now uses that metaphor to talk about Joe, her real love. So the gold referenced in this song isn't really literal, the park wasn't gold, their love was gold. She actually met Joe in a bar, but she showed him around the park where she used to hope she'd meet the love of her life at. But that's just my input. It can be interpreted differently depending on who you are.

This is my most favorite song on the album! And then The One. ❤️ Invisible String is about her current relationship. ❤️

These are my faves too. :) I love everything about invisible string.

I think for the centennial park, she thought she would meet somebody there like how we all think one day we might meet our true love somewhere, someplace. but instead of meeting him there she brought him to centennial park after they are together. Which means like, things work wondrously you think you’d meet someone there but in reality, you bring him there. And also, “bad blood was the song he listen when he came to LA” and “You ate at my favourite spot for dinner” seems to say that they were somehow linked together since before they met. Like when you get into a relationship and find similarities where your path crossed BEFORE you even knew about the other’s existence.

It’s about her boyfriend for +3 years, Joe Alwyn who’s a British actor. The song explains the fate that brought them together and thought time there was an invisible string that will connect them eventually.

This song is just cuteness overload and very happy and Romantic And think this song is about her current British boyfriend and think there is some speculating going on about her Bf working on a yogurt shop when he's 16 And the waitress is bold because in their 3rd anniversary they visited a place and the waitress said Taylor look like a American singer And the sending present to her ex's baby is referred to Joe Jonas baby I guess

I think this song could be describing the destined meeting of two people who found each other through a great stretch of distance and time, and were connected to each other, from a time when they didn't even know the other existed. Like taylor was in NYC in a park, and Joe was in UK working part-time. But the string connected them even then. It could generally be finding the love of your life eventually, being unaware of the clues life was giving you while leading you towards them, all your decisions would be the ones that would lead you to meet them, like when they were in some other part of the world or your country, and these two people were completely in their own worlds, completely unaware that they would one day would meet and fall in love so deeply. Like the "invisible string" was connected to both of them all through their entire life, and it was what brought them together. It reminds me of the poem by Pablo Neruda: "But I love your feet only because they walked upon the earth and upon the wind and upon the waters, until they found me." And this string kept pulling Taylor away from all her old lovers towards Joe, who she was meant to be all along. Idk. Just what I thought.

This is clearly about Taylor and her boyfriend Joe... "3 year trip to the lakes" it was during their 3rd year anniversary. Then when they were earing, the waitress told Joe that Taylor's look like an american singer cuz they were in England that time. But good reaction and analysis. ❤

to me, it was the most obvious song, and I don't really catch all of the meanings in many of her song at the first listening. But I catched this right on. I really liked it.

Based on what he said about invisible string being music which connects two people together, it is somehow comparable to Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift. They've been together before most probably through music. In the lyrics, it was mentioned that now I bring their babies present. Sophie Turner and Joe just had a baby. I dunno if it makes sense or what. Thanks!

(give me the blues purple pink skies) it means her lover era it's all about her boyfriend joe and invisible string is a Chinese theory i think that soulmates are meant to be tying with a red thread. But she mentions gold here because "she once believed love would be burning red, but it's golden like daylight" Please react to all too well and her lover album too. You guys love it.

would love to hear you guys review 'the lakes' (the bonus track off folklore). i think there are "unofficial" versions up on youtube somewhere. it's not up on streaming yet. but it's a great song, i like it better than a couple on the actual album.

I really like this song, is at a point in the album when you need a more uplifting happy mood, and it give me just that.. I think the music could be part of it, but a bit differently than like you talked about it here...TS have talked before about how much music is what make her process or even understand better her own feelings or the situations she is going through...and she also talked before about how sometimes you are in a relationship with some perfect person but you can't wrote even one lyric about them due to the fact they don't move you that way, and you can't force yourself to wrote something just because it would make you feel better to express your love/appreciation for that person in that way too.... so I think, now that you made the connection, that invisible strings can have also the meaning that finally both world are coinciding more than ever before...her love life is inspiring her more than ever before, so her love for music have also become not only a safe place for her but also a place to share her happiness like always you are the best...even delayed reactions are greatly appreciated LOL i always get away with some new prospectives after your reactions
