The new album folklore is actually labeled as alternative and not pop. There aren't any poppy songs on it at all. Its all mellow and calm. Id recommend reacting to Exile which is a duet of Taylor with Bon Iver. Its so good. Betty is a good song from the album and Mad Woman, The 1, My Tear Ricochet

Not a heartbreak song or a healing song. Her healing songs were in the Reputation album. Her new life songs were in the Lover album. This album Folklore is about fairy tales and imagination. You might have heard her say "Peter losing Wendy" in the video. This song is about her salvation. Music has always been her salvation. Each scene represented the times she faced in life and how her music (piano) saved her from everything.

It is totally about Harry Styles..again. Lol What and amazing muse he is. Tried to change the ending Peter losing Wendy bc she lost him (as states in one of her videos and concert tour) and he came back to her as if he had lost her, but it was his fault for cheating. Vintage tee, high line, kissing in cars and bars, they were on and off for years.

metalheads are the one to know real music in the first place. They recognize skill and songwriting talent because every metal band writes their own music

I feel like this film clip is about her musical journey. She had her time when she was her own artist (in the cabin), she moved into her early fame which felt heavenly, then the Kanye era where she felt like she was drowning, and now she's back to her song writing roots.

Oh and just to clear up...their is a teenage love triangle in this album this song is Betty's POV,(James is her bf who cheats on her but goes back to her),August is the other girls perspective and Betty is James POV

Old Taylor is still definitely dead. Folklore is basically a memoir to her old storytelling, but vastly improved using a field of fictional characters to create a folklore. The album is almost like an audiobook where the lyrics add to the ambiance of the instrumentations.

This and 10 others of her 16 Folklore tracks were co-written and co-produced by Aaron Dessner of the indie band The National (whom I adore). Sound-wise, this and the rest of the album is the beautiful indie love child of T. Swift and The National (with a lil Bon Iver) thrown in. 💜

She explained that there are three songs on the Folklore album that form a triangle of viewpoints. "Cardigan" is written from a viewpoint of a young girl, Betty, whose boyfriend cheated on her, and she says "when you are young they assume you know nothing" but she knew exactly how this was going to turn out - "I knew you'd miss me when the thrill expired... I knew you would come back to me." Then the song "Betty" is from the viewpoint of James, the boy who cheated on her. He says "I'm only 17, I don't know anything but I know i miss you" like as if his young age is an excuse for cheating, and the song is about how he is hoping he can just show up at her door and she will forgive him. And the third song, "August", is from the viewpoint of the girl who James cheated with.

Hearing your lyrical analysis might actually be interesting considering one of you knows a little about her and the other very little. Cardigan I actually think has been theorised to be about clinging to fans/comfort/music/love despite all of the hardships, but it exists within an analogy of teen romance (connects with the songs August and Betty, Cardigan being from Betty's perspective). But in the video seeing Taylor cling to the music, and be taken to beautiful places, getting lost and into dark waters because she stopped playing, and then got lead back home, and the fans are kind of the "cardigan". Just a theory. But yea.
