    For those not familiar with Taylor, don’t be fooled by his famous father. This dude is the REAL DEAL. Definitely not grandfathered in. If you haven’t heard it, you gotta give his album “Early Riser” a listen ASAP. One of my favorites ever.

    Agreed! Taylor is a very talented artist who clearly has some hip-hop and jazz influences in his music.

    Well, he came from a musical family, so he probably had great music playing in the house from the time he was born. Great teachers on piano, production, voice, whatever would have been his for the asking. But he still had to put in the work, he still had to have the vision, and he still had to have the talent. None of those can be faked. And if he hadn't had them, his dad would probably have steered him toward something else, with the music kept as a hobby.

    "don’t be fooled by his famous father. This dude is the REAL DEAL", what a bullshit. APPLES AND ORANGES. They just can't be compared, different genre, different approach and both are amazing. Bobby is of the most important voices of american music, ten-time grammy awarded and honorary doctored at Berklee. Taylor is just an amazing newcomer if compared with the grandiosity and importance of his father.

  • @randomprimate

    I'm not comparing them, so there's no need to say what I said is bullshit. Let me clarify: When I wrote that comment, I imagined that there are people who are going to watch this video who have never heard of Taylor McFerrin when they saw him pop up in their KZread feed. It is mildly possible that they'd think to themselves, "Hmm.... is this guy actually a good musician and worth 45 minutes of my time? Or does he just have so many music industry connections because of his father that he was able to make a career without any incredible talent?" I decided to write my comment as a way to let people know that he truly is an exceptional musician, and didn't cheat his way in to this career. He is an amazing musician. So is his father. We are in agreement. I am not comparing them. No need to get mean.

  • @PedroBroggini

    @PedroBroggini

    Ok, sorry for the bullshit, now I got what you wanted to say. I took you wrong with the phrase "REAL DEAL", supposing you were saying that his father is something meanless if compared with him (Taylor).

    As a fusion -jazz vocalist, I am EXTREMELY proud of Taylor McFerrin for keeping this aspect of the genre relevant!!! I've been forced to sing in so many different bands, attempting to find sounds and experiences similar to this kind of vibe. I REALLY hope audiences for this type of music will expand beyond just musicians and audiophiles :-)
